About Patricia Rael

Patricia Rael is a member of the Rael Family. Her father was the historian of Questa, a school teacher and writer. Her mother and father raised 6 children. She remembers her father inviting the school children to enjoy the land.. At an Easter Egg Hunt, holding her dad's hand, she decided one day she would have a an affordable beautiful place in the country for people to get away from the city and have enough room to enjoy nature and each other.

Patricia Rael purchased this cabin in 1990

Why Patricia Rael chose Questa

I was fortunate to have inherited this history rich property from my parents. One of the acres which is now the main house was an artist's studio converted to an open loft and easily sleeps 6 people

What makes this cabin unique

I enjoy the beauty of the mountains closeby, the large cottonwood trees, the small creek that weaves through the property and the serenity and privacy - a place of peace and space to relax and not be burdened by the city noise.

Absolutely Blessed!

  • 5 of 5

We had our wedding there last June. It was absolutely perfect! The photos do not do this property justice. Patricia went over and beyond anything we could have expected in getting the property ready for us. The property was beautiful and the creek gorgeous! We had our wedding and reception there. Plenty of room for the kids to play, huge dance area, and the reception tables and caterer. She even accommodated parking. The main house was perfect for the bridal party and stayed in the Casita for the first few days of our honey moon. It was too tranquil to leave. Our guests had a blast! We continually recommend this property to everyone we know. Thank you Patricia for all you did for us, you made it memorable!

Wow, what a fantastic stay we had at The Casita. It was the perfect size for my husband and I. The the pups had a ball roaming the property. We couldn't have found a better place. So quiet and away from any crowds. Great location. There were plenty of hikes in the area, though we did hit some at Taos Ski Valley also. The place was completely stocked with anything we needed. And I was pleasantly surprised to find that even the Casita had a washer/dryer. We had no problems but if we had, I know Patricia would have had us fixed up in no time. We look forward to returning next year.

Spacious & comfortable lodging for family.

  • 4 of 5

My daughter & I stayed here with two young children. The house is unique and very spacious and Patricia was a wonderful host. The children enjoyed all the room to run around and spread out their toys, and my grandson was thrilled when he found out that the Blue Buses would take us to Taos or Red River for free!

We all slept upstairs in the spacious loft and the beds were comfortable, but my only concern was that the only bathroom was downstairs. There was a futon downstairs, but we didn't use it. There was also a large dining table and lots of comfortable seating (we each had a large couch with one to spare). Despite the size, it would be a difficult place to share if anyone needed privacy as the only walls were around the bathroom. Nevertheless, I would happily stay here again.

Quiet and peaceful and ample space for family of 4.

  • 5 of 5

We liked the location because it allowed us to goto different areas and do different things each day. Patricia really did a great job getting the place clean and is super accommodating as well. Two queen size beds on the loft, one fold out downstairs. We slept great, made breakfast and lunch when we were there. Sat outside at night under the stars. I would go there again for sure!

Quiet and convenient

  • 5 of 5

I've always stayed in Red River and while it's nice there, you want to branch out from time to time. Staying in Questa gave me equal access to Taos, Red River, and the wonderful Rio Grande del Norte national monument. It was quiet, comfortable, and Patricia couldn't have been a better hostess. Thank you and I hope to be back soon!
