About Celia Duthie
I have been married for more than 30 years to my dear husband Nicholas Hunt. We have 2 wonderful children and 3 cats. Much of our life was spent in the book business in Vancouver; now we have a gallery of studio furniture and landscape art. We love to cook, eat, walk, read, garden and play bridge.
Celia Duthie purchased this Studio in 2004
Why Celia Duthie chose Ganges
We chose our location because it is a very pretty property and lovely cottage; we are close to Ganges so we and the kids can walk there and our gallery is also within walking distance for boaters.
What makes this Studio unique
Visitors to the Gallery B&B will enjoy the art and studio furniture in the suite, the landscape art and sculpture on the property and the stunning and original work in the Duthie Gallery. As hosts we can recommend restaurants, studios and excursions, and provide maps of trails for hikes and rambles. The suite is completely private, with a private entrance; guests will feel they're in their own place while staying with us at the Gallery B &B. The kitchen is well equipped for gourmet cooking and when in season fresh greens and vegetables from the garden will also be available. With our background in books, and being serious readers ourselves, there is always a good supply of current books and magazines available in the suite. Visitors to our Gallery B&B suite will also enjoy its close proximity to Ganges village, Churchill beach and, for lavish dining, the Hastings House hotel, directly across the street.

Charming and Peaceful
We had a lovely stay in this quiet suite in the forest, surrounded by tall trees and art. An easy walk into town, but still secluded. Very clean, lovely linens, great granola. Many thanks!
Thanks for your kind words. Sorry we were not around to meet you. Hope to see you our way again.
Beautiful property, charming hosts
This is the place to stay on Salt Spring Island. The location is perfect. It is quiet and close enough to walk to town. The property is an art oasis. Be sure to visit the gallery and stroll through the beautiful sculpture garden at night when it is lit up. The cottage is cozy, comfortable and clean. It was well stocked with fresh fruit, yogurt, eggs, bread, orange juice, coffee, tea and Nick's homemade granola. The patio and garden area is perfect for outdoor eating or just sitting and reading. Nick and Celia were helpful, friendly and charming. We would definitely stay here again.
Thanks Karen for your kind words. Hope to see you on SSI again. Nick
Wonderfully peaceful home, will definitely come back!
A short walk to to Ganges, great location, very clean and serene
Nice quiet location
The owners are great and very accommodating. The condo is in a nice quiet location. The condo is well equipped for all your needs. We enjoyed our walks to town . This condo is good value and we recommend it to others.
Sweetest suite, awesome central location
This was the perfect place for me and my daughter on a rainy November weekend. Close enough to walk to Ganges proper, but still quiet and private. Beautiful at night with the sculptures lit up. We would stay there again for sure.
Thank you for your sweet review - I wonder whether you meant it to register only 3 of 5 stars? Celia
Our visit to Salt Spring Island was car free and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We caught the bus from the ferry and it dropped us off at the corner, steps from our accommodations. The suite is lovely and comfortable and is run by the owners of the Duthie Gallery. It's a short walk to the town of Ganges and far enough that it's peaceful and quiet both day and night. The sculpture garden attached to the Duthie Gallery is lovely to enjoy and steps from the private backyard that comes with the suite. It was wonderful to come into the suite and have fresh baked bread, some local fruit, homemade preserves, and all the fixings for a breakfast or snack. The only drawback for us was that the suite is open concept and if one person is awake it's difficult to let the other person sleep. Our contact person was Kevin and he was helpful with any questions we had and gave us a ride to the ferry for our return trip. We rented bikes to explore the island but that lasted one day after we experienced the multitude of hills. The next two days we rented scooters and enjoyed seeing the island and having some time to do some hikes as well. I have to say, I love the west coast! The people are relaxed and "real", the service was great, wherever we went, and nothing was a problem.
Illuminated art and light show at the Duthie Night Gallery(July/August), walk to the Saturday market, tour of the island's extensive network of artists' studios and galleries, sign up for lively variety of art and craft workshops and music and theatrical programs, live music every night from June to September at the Treehouse, excellent restaurants: Auntie Pesto, Market Cafe, House Piccolo, Hastings House, boat and kayak rentals within walking distance, much beloved island festivals such as Canada Day, the Fall Fair (Sept) and the Apple Festival (Oct).
