Guestbook comments from the manager

Two Broke Sistas,

Thank ya'll so much for allowing our family to stay in your beautiful beach house for the week! It completely exceed our expectations! The weather was absolutely beautiful our entire stay; which made dinners on the deck fabulous! We had 3 small children, so the plentiful space and outdoor activities were just what we needed we felt very much at home and much enjoyed the creative interior decorating! we will definitely be back and will highly recommend the "Two Broke Sistas" condo to anyone we know! Thanks again for your hospitality!

management was VERY rude!!

  • 1 of 5

My family and I stayed here for 3 nights. We told the management exactly how many people were coming. All of the beds were improperly rigged. They were all falling apart. We did not sleep! We expressed our concerns to management. The lady was so rude and nasty, our complaints could have easily been handled with an apology and and some kind words. The management's response was stay or don't stay I can rent this place out tomorrow. She further stated that the people who own the property know of the inhospitable conditions of the beds. So basically nobody cares. Also there was no soap in the property, no toilet paper, and only one small trash bag for the entire place. Cable TV is only on one tv, there was a broom, but no dust pan. It's the beach!! Sand was everywhere no matter what we did and we just had to live with it. So if you like to actually get what you pay for then please don't rent from these people. They have no respect for people who spend their hard earned money on a vacation who expect to have what they pay for. Did I mention management was horrible....just so rude!!

Owner's Response: This review is hardly worth wasting the time to reply; these renters left not one but two separate reviews from carload of people that chose to stay in a two bedroom; one bath cottage. The person that actually rented the cottage had stayed here last year and liked it so much, she chose to rent it again, but now badmouthed. I am the property manager and do everything possible to accommodate guests and anyone that has spoken with me know I am anything except rude. The cottage was set up with one roll or starter toilet paper and little soaps and large and small trash bags as indicated in move in instruction packet that is emailed to all guests with instructions for internet. Cable TV is in the Living Room as well as both bedrooms. The outside bed frame had split on one of the bunk beds and was being reinforced by a concrete block on the outer edge to stabilize the outer frame but in no way affected the framing across the bed that held the mattress and affected the way the person would sleep on the bed. This outer welding of the frame breaking took place right before these renters checked in and the owners were made aware and were bringing a new bed set up when they were coming in a couple of weeks. I came over and brought a blow up mattress for their use when I was called and told they did not want to sleep on the bed with the broken frame. They told me they could feel pressure points on the mattress from the outer frame weld being cracked. (I just don't see how that was possible, but to accommodate them I brought the blow up mattress and set it up for them) I found out later that they had other people arriving to stay in condo and I think they just wanted more sleeping arrangements for a one bath cottage.) The renters that arrived the next week and stayed did not find any problem with sleeping on the cracked frame bed and had no complaints. The owners came in the next week and replaced with a double bed and a twin bed with headboards that make the beds separate. There is a vacuum and a broom and dustpan in cottage. People that seem to want to go thru life expecting something free will never prosper. One has to decipher and see through the complaints; this is a precious cottage and I am not a rude person. The person that made the rental and had stayed before would not have wanted to come back if the place was not desirable. Alicia (Management)

Poor manager attitude

  • 2 of 5

This place was not advertised correctly. This unit sleeps 7 people and the "starter" kit they mention was 1/2 roll of cheap toilet paper, no linens for the sleeper, the knives weren't sharp enough to cut any vegetables, there is no garbage disposal, the front door leaks when it rains and the worst part is the bunk bed is broken and way too uncomfortable to sleep on for an adult. When I called the manager, Alicia Edwards, she said "you can check out if you want. It is what it is". I would have been willing to overlook everything other than the broken bed that was not made known in the agreement. The manager brought a cinder block to hold the bed and it sagged, and when I politely tried to explain she didn't listen and told me I could leave which she clearly knew was not an option because there was no available property. I had to ask her for a blow up mattress which she had brought later.

I am very disappointed in her attitude. I dealt with these people last year and was happy with them but after this experience I would not recommend this management at all. Again, to be clear the toilet paper and other things were minor in my book, it was her attitude that was so unbelievable. If you decide to use these people please hope that nothing goes wrong and you are willing to suck up whatever happens because this management agency will do nothing to make their wrong right.

OVERPRICED AND MINIMALIST - BRING EVERYTHING WITH YOU

  • 1 of 5

Our experience room by room:

KITCHEN: No dish drainer; only 1 dishcloth, 2 dishtowels; no dish soap; broken can opener; refrigerator door opens wrong direction; electric stove burners crooked so everything flows to one side; microwave turntable jerks and makes noise; 32 glasses take up 3 shelves of cupboard space; no room in cupboards to store food; junky metal kitchen chairs that are so uncomfortable you can hardly sit in them; only room for 2 people to eat (sleeps 7).

BATHROOM: only 1/2 roll toilet paper, no hair dryer.

BEDROOMS: noisy furnace duct in main BR which we reported and no one fixed; cheap thin sheets; plastic matress pad that makes noise when you move.

PORCH: metal chairs with no cushions (can't sit in them). Deck wood in terrible shape.

LIVING ROOM: problems with computer connection (mgr had to fix and continued difficulty due to main connection in duplex next door); old worn out couches; no desk; no radio or alarm clock; no list of restaurant/recreation recommendations.

STORAGE ROOM: Messy, cluttered with junk. Dryer takes forever to dry clothes. 2 bikes, but locked and we were told we couldn't use them.

We called mgr re: burned out lite bulb, noisy heat vent but no one came with bulbs, no one fixed heat vent.

ALSO: good review by KathyH is not for this unit. There is no pool, and this is not the "Edgewater complex".

FALSE ADVERTISING: This unit does not have tile floors throughout - only in bathroom and bedrooms. Linoleum in the kitchen and living room, which is old, worn and torn in spots. The swing and outdoor furniture is located under the other unit and do not feel comfortable using it. The view of the lagoon from the porch is practically non-existent. You can peek at it through the houses blocking the view.

We were very disappointed and glad none of our relatives were able to visit. There wouldn't have been room to eat at the table. This place would be OK for a few days, but not for the 3 weeks we stayed there.

Owner's Response: You can not make some people happy, no matter what. They did not want to make the trip and was not happy to be here after they had committed. We offered to replace the light bulbs and was told that they prefered to do themselves and not be disturbed. A full starter roll of toilet paper is what is provided at move in with starter soaps. Tenants are asked to purchase what they need for their stay. All this is explained in move in instructions so everyone knows what to bring. The cottage is fixed up very cute and attractive. No bicycles are furnished. I am sorry these people did not enjoy this cute place.

Its a Cutie!

  • 4 of 5

This place is cozy! It has been updated more from what the photos show. We stayed here and loved it! Walking distance of beach (200 yards) we grilled below and sat out on the porch in the swing. The view is nice! It is just so peaceful and quite. We loved the color of the place and the decorating in the house/duplex. We enjoyed our stay and suggest you to make this your next stay. It is also GREAT for Snowbirds! We will return next summer! Not to mention.....the Price is great!

Owner's Response: We want quests to come and experience the coziness and adventures the cottage lends to it's guests at a prime location that is close to everything. Great that it is open to your 4 legged friends, as well. Right across the street to the Ocean with everything you need inside to make you comfortable and happy. Everyone that has stayed has had a wonderful time and promises to return. Thanks for your great comments.

Great condo for large family

  • 5 of 5

As mentioned in the property description, this unit is actually a "double unit".....providing an enlarged

living space along with four (4) bedrooms/baths. This worked out great for our extended family, as it allowed for ample common areas (den, dining) but also allowed for private bedrooms/baths per family. As well, the unit offers an additional refrigerator (which always seems to come in handy at the beach) along with a storage unit/closet near the swimming pool (for storing beach chairs, umbrellas, etc.)... which avoids the need to transport items back and forth from the room. The unit is on the 7th floor and has an extended-wide balcony (which overlooks the pool and beach), which is especially relaxing in the mornings and evenings. The "decor" is along the traditional side (which we prefer)...with bright "beach" themes and colors. We rented through VRBO, and the reservationist/process was extremely accommodating....and one we would use again. Finally....this unit is part of the "Edgewater" complex....which is a relatively smaller complex as compared to many in Gulf Shores (which is why we like it.). In short, this is a unique condo arrangement, and is one of the few beach condos where I've not felt "cramped" , thanks to the extended living space.
