Winter Wonderland

  • 5 of 5

We visited with the family on Dec 7- Dec 10, It started snowing Dec 8 and we had 8-10 inches of snow, it was beautiful. Scotty, father, and his two sons, Dalton and Dillon, helped us down to the main road since we drove our cars to the lodge, SUV 4 WD is the best for the terrain. Thank You guys we had a great time.

We had a group of 12 that gets together once a year at a different place somewhere in the country. We've been doing this for 20+ years, and over the years, a few places have made their way into a group of return destinations. It was overwhelmingly decided that Forge Lake Lodge will be one of these places going forward. The house is incredible, and so is the lake which we felt was our own private paradise (very little lake traffic). The marina is just across the lake making boat rental a breeze. The marina has great food too. I highly recommend this vacation house.

Not perfect, but the view cannot be beat!

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from a five night stay at Forge Lake Lodge. We were a group of 10. Our initial impression was what an incredible place this is. Our group rents homes all over the world and this place is quite unique. The home is plenty large and all the rooms are very well equipped. Most of the bedrooms have Lake views. The lake is spectacular and quite calm since most of it is protected from development.

We did have a few issues however.

1. The A/C on the bottom floor was broken during the first two nights of our stay but that was not so much of a problem as the nights were quite cool.

2. The jukebox which sends music throughout the home and ,I assume to the outdoor spaces ,was broken.

3. The oven was hard to regulate as it is obviously in need of recalibration.

4. The master bedroom had a beautiful copper tub. However, after filling it only about 1/4 full it began to leak all over the floor.

5. The gas fireplaces in the front main floor bedroom and the master bedroom upstairs are difficult to operate and seem to cycle on and off at random.

6. The advertised outdoor waterfall was broken.

These may not seem like major issues but the management company and owner do advertise many of these extra amenities and the house did not deliver on some of them.

I would also suggest to the management company/owner....put a few more signs on the road leading up to the property, especially where it forks right at The Wingate home. We all got confused there! It is a windy narrow road so all the help you can give your renters the better....!!

I must say that the management company did communicate very well with us. Sasha and Luke were very pleasant to deal with.

Owner's Response: First we want to say thank you for choosing to stay in our home! We are happy to know that you enjoyed the views and many of our amenities. We do understand a couple of issues arose during your stay and we want to apologize for any inconvenience they may have caused you. We are sorry for the lack of A/C caused for your 1st evening and understand that can be disappointing. Unfortunately, it was not something we couldn’t anticipate and we had it repaired at the earliest time possible. Fortunately, the weather was a cool 50 degrees each night of your stay, so we hope you were able to still sleep well. In response to the Juke Box, we are sorry that it went out, and the copper tub as well a few other small glitches. We are having those issues corrected, so that should not cause problems for guests in the future. Thank you for bringing those issues to our attention so that we can improve them for future guests as we want everyone to be able to enjoy our home. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do, The Elite Team

Good Times

  • 5 of 5

A short 1.5 mile single lane switchback gravel road will lead you to this wonderful lodge. Our first trip down this road was a bit scary but we soon became to enjoy the drive.

Our group of 11 adults had plenty of room to roam or escape.

We spent our days sitting on the rear patio, hiking the nearby trails and sightseeing. Our evenings were spent by the massive upstairs fireplace and preparing meals.

The open floor plan handles a large group with ease.

The lake is beautiful but the temps were too cold for swimming or boating. No one in our group took advantage of the hot tub.

The negatives are few but include:

Light Switches are difficult to figure out.

Too many remote controls.

No working elevator (we had elderly parents with us).

No instructions for gas fireplace.

The Positives

The View

House in great condition

The View

Accommodates a large group with ease

The View.

The bedrooms seem to block out noise from the common areas.

The View.

We loved the Lodge and did not want to leave.

Oh yes. We were there to celebrate a 60th birthday. The caretaker helped us arrange for Chef Daniel Baker to prepare a meal for us at the Lodge on the birthday. Just one word - WOW !!!! You need to do that at least once !!

Beautiful Home with a stunning view!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a reunion at this lovely home and found it to be everything we had hoped it would be. The lake with the surrounding mountains is so beautiful and we all enjoyed swimming and relaxing around the water. The view from the deck was amazing! We recommend renting a boat from the local marina to explore the lake more. We would recommend this home and location to anyone and in fact, are planning to return next year! Everyone we dealt with in reserving this home and arriving at the site were extremely nice and helpful.

A magnificent lodge located on a beautiful lake.

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with our 4 children, their spouse, and 5 grandchildren. The lodge and lake were as described and we all fell in love with both of them. Our plans were to drive out most days and explore the area and enjoy activities of river rafting, zip lining, etc, but we never left the premises. The lodge was unbelievable, lavishly decorated with antiques, a bedroom and bath for each family,a large accommodating kitchen, a wrap around balcony on both levels that revealed the beauty of the lake and mountains. The weather was perfect for swimming, even for our toddlers. Everyone enjoyed the pontoon boat, jet ski, paddle boards, kayaks, and fishing. A memorable week without cell phones. WE WOULD LOVE TO RETURN SOME DAY!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Family of 11 adults and 4 children: this place was magical and private.

Deer horns and carved bears, and exquisite googahs from exotic foraging. Felt like this construction and decorating was a labor of love for an artistic soul. No expense spared. The sheets were a heavy sateen that stayed cool. The bedrooms were unusually shaped, well lit, and comfortable. TV's everywhere, balconies every level and wraparound. Views of the lake are unforgettable. Kitchen is central and plenty of stovetop burners, deep double sinks both sides, extra fridge in garage. Built to catch the light of the morning and the setting sun, it is as much fun outside as inside. Rent jet skis for the lake which is enormous. So many nooks and crannies to explore. Huge fireplaces. WiFi. Gym. Private terrace off Master.

Only drawbacks: no cell service (use the phone provided); and the twisting, unpaved, one-way road to get there is a little intimidating. Avoid night driving.

We absolutely loved this place.
