Complete with old wooden beams and brilliant sunrise and sunset views. It is a wonderful house for large families, groups of friends or anyone who simply likes lots of space, airy rooms, scrubbed pine floors and country living by the sea. Perfectly located at the end of a quiet private road, you can relax to your hearts content. Watch seagulls wheeling high overhead, inhale the wonderful mixed fragrance of pine needles and salty sea air, listen to bird songs or stroll down to the shore in Hulls Cove to look for sea glass and other treasures that the sea has left behind. Acadia National Park is just down the road. Hike or bike the scenic carriage roads and trails, climb a mountain, go sea kayaking or walk over to secluded Lake Wood for a swim.
May we suggest you also take a look at The Orchard House, our adjoining property #3752195

Perfect Vacation Rental!
This home is the perfect vacation rental for a large group! We totally enjoyed our few days celebrating a graduation and family get-together. This place was by far the best rental we've enjoyed to date, and we've been to a lot of places! It was spacious and beautifully furnished. Everyone said the beds were super comfortable. Everything you could imagine needing was there. (I usually pack a few things that aren't always available at rentals - like a teapot and a good paring knife for examples - but this place had it all!) The owner was so pleasant to deal with. We called to report a small issue that we didn't even mind dealing with - just wanted her to know for future rentals; but she came right over to check it out and had it taken care of promptly. The location of the property is ideal for outings to Acadia, and it is private/quiet for time just spent at the house. Our entire group (14 of us!) hated to leave. Thank you, Trish, for sharing your wonderful home and helping us create some great memories!
The Cider House was a spectacular place to stay, and we loved it. There was attention to every detail that we could possibly want. Will be returning over and over!
It will be an absolute pleasure to see you again!
Great house which accomodates a large group
It is a great house, with plenty of rooms to both bring people together yet also find places where you can have a bit of quiet if you are with a large group. Rooms were very clean and the showers were lovely with plenty of hot water available. It is situated on a quiet small road, very close to a park entrance and about 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. Trish, the owner was very responsive every step of the way -from the booking to requests when we were there. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is that the kitchen needed some attention. For example, one of the surface elements on the stove top was not working, we had some problems with the toaster heating, and we only had one medium sized saucepan and a few smaller ones to cook with the first evening we arrived (Trish got us larger saucepans the following day).
We loved having you all Nuala! Large family get togethers make for wonderful memories and we want every visit to be absolutely perfect!
To that end we double check all the little household details before our guests arrive and if during the visit something stops working or is not exactly as expected, we immediately look into it. We would have gladly taken a look
at the toaster and burner if we had known there was an issue with either.
Great location and space for a large gathering.
Good location out of town located near bus stops. Deer herd entertained us each morning.
Perfect for our family reunion of 12 people. We even had 2 empty bedrooms!
The outside grounds were great for activities, bbq, afternoon happt hour, lawn games. Great nature viewing--deer, wild turkeys, groundhog and lots of birds.
We loved having your family at the farmhouse Anna, it's always such a pleasure to know the little ones have enjoyed the peaceful, natural outdoorsy things that go on around here.
Charming, spacious farm house
Three families--6 adults and 6 kids ages 19 to 9--stayed for a week and had a great time. The house is charming and spacious. Bedrooms were all good sized and one of them (BR #7) was huge. Lots of seating in the kitchen for a crowd, and the living room is large with lots of comfy leather couches and chairs. There's an additional sitting room, too, when family members need to get away from each other!
Trish was great to work with, very responsive. Trish is generous in stocking up the house with toiletries, paper towels, etc that normally don't come with a house rental.
Location was superb. The house is at the end of a private road, so no traffic at all in front of the house. It feels very secluded. We never saw the neighbors (only on one side). The lawn is expansive and was great for kids to run around. We ate every meal on the large deck. A restaurant in Hulls Cove, Peppers, served Guiffords ice cream (try the Maine Black Bear--yum!) , which is less expensive than the more famous location in Bar Harbor). The "secret" lake up the road has great swimming and diving off the rocks--a huge hit with the kids. Trish will tell you how to find it. I'm not writing it here so it says a secret!
We rated this 4 stars because we did have a few house maintenance issues, which may have been due to a late-season rental (end of August) and the wear-and-tear that comes with weeks of rental use.
Also, a heads-up on location: As mentioned above, the house is located on a private road off of Crooked Lane in Hulls Cove. Be advised that Route 3 West heading out of Bar Harbor is closed for long-term rebuilding (I believe the sign said until 2019) and all traffic is diverted onto Crooked Lane. Crooked Lane doesn't have a sidewalk or shoulder, so it's a bit daunting walking to the general store or ice cream store as cars and trucks fly by.
That said, the house is a 3-minute bike ride to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center and the start of the carriage paths, so if you enjoy biking, this is an ideal house location.
*I'm sure the roadwork info posted by our guest was kindly meant however the detour and roadwork has been completed since mid November 2017.
It was an absolute pleasure to have your family staying here at the farmhouse and so very glad that you enjoyed everything about the house.
Acadia national park and the rest of our beloved Island. Our own children grew up here, and had endless fun and adventures in peace and safety so it is really lovely to know that your children enjoyed the very same things.
We always aim for perfection on our end but sometimes even though we watch for it, a little thing can get by us in which case we definitely appreciate your bringing it to our attention.
Hulls Cove is a quiet and beautiful little cove just 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The sun rises over the water and the Porcupine islands, each morning; the sky and sea delight the eye. Some days the islands are draped in fog and the water looks like silver. Other days the water sparkles like diamonds and countless shades of blue. It is ever changing and always breathtaking. At the Hulls Cove General Store you can pick up coffee, a newspaper and grocery items or board the free Island Explorer shuttle bus. The Chart Room Restaurant offers delicious dining right on the water or pop into Peppers for pizza and calzones.
Lake Wood is just up the road. It is part of Acadia and a great place to swim. Bullfrogs like it too!
