Overview

About the property

House, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This is our custom new home completed in 2011. It is beach life at its best! There are 2 bedrooms/2 baths, and an open kitchen/dining/living room. The house sleeps 6. The master bedroom has a connected bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed and double/twin bunk bed. There is wireless internet if you must be connected.

You are on the beach! The Dungeness lighthouse is right out front. Spectacular views of the Olympic Mountains are on the other side. It is a perfect spot for beach combing, bird watching or curling up with a good book.

We built this house because of our love of the water. Windsurfing and kayaking are two of our favorite activities. It is ideal for both. Bring your gear and have fun! The Dungeness valley is also great for cycling with the Olympic Discovery trail stretching from Sequim Bay to Port Angeles. What ever gear you bring, will be secure in the garage that the house sits on top of. There is a second garage door leading to the beach for easy gear access!

It's your vacation. Do as much or a little as you like. Inside, the house is a quiet, comfortable place to just 'be'. There is a wood stove that increases the cozy factor on cool winter days! Outside is what you make of it. The deck is a great place for bird watching during the day or star gazing at night.

Dungeness Spit is the longest sand spit in the US and a National Wildlife Refuge. It is about a 10 mile round trip hike from the base of the spit to the lighthouse and back. Hiking on a low tide is best. The trail head is less than a 10 minute drive from the house. If you're looking for more ambitious hiking adventures, Olympic National Park beckons. Within an hour you could be at Deer Park or Hurricane Ridge, on trails leading through some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth, really! Hurricane Ridge also has downhill and cross country skiing as well as snow shoeing in the winter.

About Guy Lawrence or Jeanne Neal

I am a 6th grade math and science teacher in Seattle. Being an avid wind surfer, paddler, birder and photographer, my dream was to build a home on the water. I met Jeanne (who loves all outdoor activities) in 2006 and together we built our dream home.

Currently we are busy raising a 17 year old daughter and working full time, but plan on eventually moving to Dungeness full time. We are Olympic Peninsula natives so moving back will be a homecoming of sorts for us.

We hope that everyone enjoys 'Beach Life' as much as we do!

Why Guy Lawrence or Jeanne Neal chose Sequim

I spent 5 years after college traveling the world working as a scuba diving instructor. I've always wanted a house on the beach. Diving has given way to windsurfing and kayaking. This place is perfect for both. The Olympic Peninsula is where our roots are. We love visiting and look forward to moving back someday.

What makes this house unique

We like to 'unplug' from the world and take time. We alternate between relaxing with a good book and getting outside paddling, sailing, birding, cycling or hiking the awesome Olympic Peninsula. Nash's Farm store is a must stop for organic veggies while we're there.

There is easy beach access for kayaking, windsurfing and kite boarding. It is easiest to launch close to high tide. Wind during summer months is predominantly a westerly-side shore that comes up in the afternoon. Mornings would be the best times for paddling if you like calmer conditions. There is boat launch on Cline Spit which about a 5 minute drive away, west.

Relaxing Beach Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We got to wake up to beautiful beach sunrises with the lighthouse and spit in the distance. It's a beautiful and calm setting and the house is set up very comfortably with a generous sized kitchen to cook family meals in. My husband especially loved the wood burning fireplace. Everything is up to date, well maintained and styled very nicely. We'll certainly be back again, and stay a week next time!

Beautiful Beach Life!!!

  • 5 of 5

My visit to Sequim and Beach Life was perfect!!! First of all, Guy was wonderful and very quick to respond back with any questions. It is obvious that the home owners are very proud and have put TLC into their home.

The home is absolutely lovely!!! The views are beyond belief!!! Every direction you look is a Kodak moment!!

The location is perfect. It is quiet if you want to relax by the beach/water. Close to town if you need to get some shopping in or check out the restaurants. Lastly, it is close to the great outdoors!!!!

The home inside is beautifully decorated, clean and has anything you might need! The beds are comfortable. Truth be told, I really didn't want to leave!!!

Thank you for sharing this gem of a home!!! I truly enjoyed it!! I will be back!!!

We loved our visit to Sequim

  • 5 of 5

First off, the photos don't do the views justice. You have views on both sides of the house. Either the mountains, or the water. Second, the wildlife is amazing. We saw the largest Bald Eagles imaginable. Sooo many birds. We could NOT believe this secluded spot even exists anymore. It is a true respite from real life and a place to immerse yourself in nature, if you wish.

The house is lovely. Everything you need in the kitchen. Plenty of towels. Comfortable beds. Could not have asked for more. We brought our 2 kids and they loved the bunk bed and catching crabs on the beach and playing in their driftwood fort.

We will be back :)

Beautiful home and very accommodating hosts. Excellent, quiet location.

  • 5 of 5

My wife, my friend and I really enjoyed our stay at Beach Life. The home was clean and modern. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pots, pans and utensils. And the garage was great for storing our bikes in the dry. We enjoyed several bike rides around Sequim and Dungeness from the house, hikes in the Olympics, trail runs and strolls on the beach. We liked it so much, we requested to stay another night and our host was very accommodating. We hope to return in the future. Thanks!

Already planning our next trip to Beach Life!

  • 5 of 5

You simply can't go wrong with Beach Life. It is a cozy home overlooking the beach/lighthouse and the mountains. It was a perfect size for the 6 of us (my mom, husband, and 3 kids). It was hard to tear ourselves away to explore the rest of the Peninsula. Speaking of the Peninsula, it is a great home base for the wonderful adventures awaiting there. The guide books in the house were super helpful. You can't beat the fantastic views at Hurricane Hill trail. Our favorite though was Camp Handy, which was even closer to the house. Can't wait to come back with kayaks and check out the lighthouse next time!

Perfect home base for the Olympic Peninsula

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 children) stayed here for 6 days and found it to be the perfect location for exploring the Olympic Peninsula. The views from the house are breathtaking (both water and mountains). The beach was great for the kids - we saw seals, bald eagles, crabs, jellyfish and numerous shorebirds. We traveled to Hurricane Ridge, the Hoh Rainforest, Rialto Beach and Lake Crescent - but it was great to have such a nice house to "come home" to every night. The kitchen is well equipped and the open concept area is perfect for family meals, games and time together. The owners were very responsive and helpful. I would definitely highly recommend this rental to others.
