The perfect getaway!
Tonight we counted up the times we’ve stayed at Joan’s fabulous riverfront houses - 4: 3 times at this house and one at her first house up the road. Our week in late May coincided with two graduations and visits with long time NJ friends. This house is absolutely perfect for family reunions and for friends coming together to celebrate years of friendships.
We’re cooks - and everything evolves around the dining table for us. I had no doubt the kitchen would have what we needed: Hungarian sweet paprika, a lemon zester, and best of all - well sharpened chef’s knives. Whether eating at the long table in the kitchen/main room or at river level in the screened in porch, this is the place for shared good times.
The beds could not be more comfortable, and each bedroom is absolutely cozy. This year the elevator came in handy for a husband with ailing knees. My 14 year old grandson and I had a super time kayaking up river - in a high level and swiftly moving Delaware and then an hour or so biking on the canal tow path.
We’re already thinking and dreaming of our next visit. Thank you, Joan, for thinking of everything!
wonderful, spacious home - well equipped!
This home is as advertised. We stayed during Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed the views, the spaciousness, the multiple decks, and the attention to detail. Part of what drew us was the elevator, since one person in our group has trouble with stairs. The entire group LOVED the house.
A particularly wonderful aspect of the house is the well equipped kitchen - with all a chef would want to cook, and the pots and pans and dinnerware to feed our group of 12. A VERY appreciated element of our stay was that Joan leaves so many items you need if you prepare food and/or cook - spices, condiments, etc - in the kitchen. It is annoying to show up to a place with a kitchen and find there is not even a salt shaker... this experience was the opposite - there were loads of those items you need only a little of - possibly left by prior renters (we left some BBQ sauce and some rum we couldn't finish)....
And, the fact that there were several bikes and a kayak was also a completely great amenity. Even though they weren't used by many of us, the few of us who used them really appreciated them being available.
All in all, Joan is remarkably welcoming, solicitous of us as guests, and very accommodating. If we ever go back to that area, we would go to that house with a group.
I can’t say enough good things about Joan and this property. My fiancé and I stayed the weekend with three other couples for his birthday. The house was beautiful but cozy all at the same time. We had enough space to be together or spread out for privacy. Perfect for groups. Everything was provided already, right down to condiments! Joan literally thought of everything and was courteous the entire way. Even with poor weather, we had a wonderful time. Not only is the house amazing but there are so many things to check out in the area as well. We would definitely stay here again!
A dreamy respite from everyday life!
Joan has created an oasis of calm--with all the possibilities of outdoor adventure! Our research team rented this peaceful riverfront property so that we could come together to write a grant. Sounds like a chore? Not at all.
We enjoyed every second of our time by the river. The home was such a comfortable, well-appointed, and spacious site for our retreat. And when we needed a break from writing, we borrowed Joan's kayaks and paddled (up-river first, on Joan's urging), savoring the Bucks County landscape. I had never before truly appreciated the beauty of the Delaware. We also loved our runs and walks along the Tow Path, which is right across the street.
The beds were very comfy, the kitchen had all the tools we needed (including sharp chef's knives and lots of dishes and cutlery), and the house was very well-suited to both children and elderly visitors. (How thoughtful to design a universally inviting home, Joan.)
I can't wait to come back with my team, and with my family. My children will LOVE this place. I'll be dreaming of it until we return. Thank you, Joan.
A beautiful retreat
Our research team was enchanted by Joan's home on the Delaware, which we visited for a writing retreat. The views were so serene, and the house was so well-equipped for both active adventures and total relaxation. We found so many quiet places to read and write, and we took great breaks by paddling up river and riding the current down. We also thoroughly enjoyed walks and runs on the Tow Path, which is right across the street. Joan has bikes for people of all sizes, too!
The house was immaculate, the kitchen was well-stocked for cooking (chef's knives, lots of serveware, spices), the beds were cozy, and the outdoor spaces were inviting and gorgeous. Joan was generous with insights about how to make the most of our stay.
Very importantly, Joan's home is the most universally accessible home I've encountered on VRBO. How refreshing to find a place for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
We will be back, with colleagues from my lab, or with my children and our friends, who will love this place! And I will dream about it until we return. Thank you, Joan, for being such a wonderful host!
Great place for an off site team meeting!
The entire house is better than the pictures. I had a 10 person off-site team meeting and it was perfect! It allowed us to all work thru our agenda in a very relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of room for all. And the WIFI was great!
The house is located right on the Delaware river, providing the perfect opportunity for swimming, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Close to the Delaware Canal tow path for bicycle riding and hiking. About 30 minutes to New Hope, Lambertsville and Doylestown. Families with children will want to visit Sesame Place and the Crayola Factory.
