About the property

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 9)

The Lake is full and ready for you. Nana's Nook is a hide-away for a family to have fun and get away from the busy life. Relaxing on the deck with refreshments or a book is a wonderful way to get away from 'it all.' The large bedroom is a wonderful place for the kids to hang out with games or a movie or their choice. A short drive to Pinecrest Lake and Dodge Ridge Ski Resort gives it a perfect location.

About Julie Bretz

My family loves the peace and quiet of the mountains. At the same time they love the activities of playing at the lake, walking the trails and snow activities.

Julie Bretz purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Julie Bretz chose Gold Country & High Sierra

Pinecrest Lake is full, stocked and ready for your summer visit. It is within 5 miles of Nana's Nook and there is great fishing and lake activities. Dodge Ridge (7 miles) is a ski/snowboard resort. Snow play is as close as the back of the cabin. Stream fishing and mountain walks and climbing are also nearby.

For those who like, a casino is apx, 20 min. away. As is the little gold mining community of Columbia.

A market and 2 great restaurants are within a mile of the cabin.

What makes this cabin unique

We love that it is a 2+ hour drive from home. Close enough for visitors and a short trip, yet far enough to really feel away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life.

Even though we have to drive to Pinecrest Lake, when we get home we are in the quietness of our own place. It is well worth the drive.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a fabulous time. The location is quiet, yet close to many activities. We loved our day at the lake, walked lots of trails and even considered going to Yosemite, but we decided we loved the Cold Springs area enough to hang out here.

You will love staying at this cabin!

Very nice cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at "Nana's Nook". It is a comfortable cabin and is well equipped & maintained. It is only a short drive to Pinecrest Lake which made it very convenient . And having Mia's restaurant so nearby was a benefit---great pizza! We especially enjoyed spending time on the beautiful deck playing board games, eating our meals--and just relaxing! Thank you Julie for sharing your great cabin with us---we would definitely like to rent it again!

Great cabin!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Nana's Nook! There wasn't any snow during our visit, but we were still able to do a lot of hiking and exploring in the area. The cabin itself is great! Clean, fully equipped kitchen, very cozy bedrooms, and clean bathrooms. There are a lot of paintings/pictures on the walls which makes the whole interior very homy and inviting. We also loved the spacious deck. There, we enjoyed some great BBQ dinners and coffee breaks.

The 2 things that we missed are a washer & a drier. Our stay was short so this was not too bad, but if your stay for over a week, it will become an issue.

Our overall experience with this property is great and we will definitely visit it again!

Family Vacation

  • 4 of 5

Stayed for 3 nights with our 2 young kids and 4 adults. Very quite neighborhood and nice house for our size group. Julie was great to work with and her grandson saved the day as I lost all our check in info and called last minute in a panic for address and lockbox code. Pinecreast Lake is less than 10 min away and we spent 2 days fishing and hiking there-beautiful! Did a 6 mile out and back trail to camp lake(off crabtree 30 min drive) which was lovely and wore my 3 and 6 year olds out. Stopped at Jamestown on the way home to ride the train and the kids loved it! We all loved the area and had lots of fun!

What a Wonderful Place to Go!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to spend a vacation! Well appointed & comfortable, Nana's Nook just had that home-like feel that you just don't get at a lot of places. Our kids, grandkids, & in-laws just loved this place. And Julie ( the owner ) is a sweetheart! She was very easy to deal with & worked with us to try to make our vacation as pleasant as possible ( which it was ).It was close to Pinecrest ( literally a 5 minute drive) which made our days so easy going back & forth. I don't want to let the secret out about this place because it's so nice we want it all to ourselves! Well worth it . Thank you Julie - we will be back!!
