About the property

2 bedrooms, 1 bath plus outdoor shower, sleeps 4

Recently renovated home is situated a stone's throw from Pirate's Cove beaches and boat ramp with access to Popponesset Bay. The home is located on a large and private wooded lot (complete with a fire pit), with partial views of the bay from the deck. Conveniently located approximately two miles from the Mashpee Commons for shopping and restaurants and just a short walk to the Mashpee River Woodlands and hiking trails. This location offers terrific opportunities for boating, water-skiing, tubing, kayaking, fishing, and access to Nantucket Sound. The home contains a large deck with gas grill and picnic table. The newly renovated interior of the home boasts an open floor plan with a large cathedral-ceiling family room, dining room, kitchen, and two bedrooms (master bedroom also contains a sitting area). This home was not offered for rental during the 2015 summer, which is why all of the reviews are from 2014, the first year it was offered as a rental, (the home was used only for family last summer).

About Dean Siflinger

Marlborough resident, father of three children (two boys and one girl). Avid boater and fisherman (who generally likes to drive the boat while others catch fish!).

Dean Siflinger purchased this cottage in 2011

Why Dean Siflinger chose Mashpee

This property is located in an area that provides everything great that the Cape has to offer. The property is close to the Mashpee Commons, close to the bay and beaches, it's private and comfortable with an open floor-plan that's well laid out with plenty of space. The kids and I love to boat, fish, and the kayaking in the bay is outstanding. The property has a large, private lot so when you sit on the deck all you really hear are birds or the sound in the distance of boats, and you can see the water enough to know that it surrounds the area. A walk across the street in one direction or down the block in the other and you're at the water (beach, picnic area, or boat ramp) within a minute or two.

What makes this cottage unique

Acess to the water and beaches! Everywhere around this property you're reminded that you're on the Cape and surrounded by the water! Short drive to the Mashpee Commons and short walk to the association beaches, boat ramp, and Mashpee Woddland's hiking trails.

Nice property and a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We had a great experience at this property. The owner was very easy to work with and accommodated our every need. We loved the location, close to Mashpee Commons as well walking distance to the water and a short drive to many beaches. The house was very clean upon arrival and we enjoyed the open kitchen/dining/family room layout as well as the over sized porch. The girls loved the bunk beds and the master bedroom had plenty of space.

We would definitely stay here again and we are hopeful it is available again in the future.

Wonderful stay! Recommended.

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful week in Dean's house. It was clean, in a nice neighborhood, and exactly as represented here. It's only a couple miles from Mashpee Commons, which is very convenient for shopping and errands. The neighborhood was nice for the kids to ride their bikes around and very quiet, and a small beach is right around the corner. The large deck is really nice, and we ate outside for dinner.

We weren't at the house a lot, since we used it as our base from which to explore the whole Cape -- both Upper and Lower Cape. It is the perfect location for that, and we went all over. Provincetown. Head of the Meadow Beach. Martha's Vineyard. Woods Hole and the Shining Sea bike path. Old Silver Beach. It's centrally located for lots of day trips.

Dean was a great person to rent from. We had a hard time figuring out the outdoor shower, and he sent someone out right away to take a look at it. With six people, the outdoor shower came in handy for getting ready to go out to dinner after a day at the beach.

I would definitely stay here again.

Very clean, plenty of shade in the backyard.

  • 5 of 5

I rented this property for my kids to spend a week with grandparents. The house is very clean, the floors are beautiful, the living room has an airy feel to it. Kids loved the fire pit and the kayaks. the backyard has plenty of shade. Everything is very close: the beach (one is a five minute walk great for morning swim, and a beautiful state beach about 15 minutes drive), a supermarket, dining, shopping (there is a kaleidoscope place in Mashpee commons - kids enjoyed it tremendously, did not want to leave). My parents said that they spent a leisurely relaxing week there.

Dean,

Thank you very much, it was a pleasure to rent from you. Would do it again next summer, if we decide to send kids to the Cape.

Amazing Property-Fantastic Experience

  • 5 of 5

For starters, Dean was a pleasure to do business with. He was very responsive, flexible with my schedule and went above and beyond to make sure our trip was perfect. Not only did he offer detailed descriptions of the house and surrounding areas-but he also made great restaurant, beach, and day trip recommendations. The house itself is exactly as described. It's spacious and has great amenities and appliances. It was also super clean which is a concern when renting! My group loved the outdoor fire pit and the deck dining area. You are literally a 2 minute walk from a private cove and 10 minute drive from one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in Cape Cod. Also, Mashpee Commons is right near by and AMAZING. It had everything you could ever need while away. I whole-heartedly recommend this location and working with Dean. You will not be disappointed!

Comfy & Cozy Cottage Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My family usually goes to Maine every summer to Old Orchard Beach camping. We decided to change it up and go to the Cape and stay in a cottage by the beach. My husband and I have a 5 month year old and two dogs. We needed somewhere that was close to everything, no long drives in case we needed to bring the baby home or attend to the dogs. This cottage was the perfect place! It was close to three local beaches! And the Mashpee Commons were about a 5 minute drive from the cottage which was perfect! There was a Stop & Shop right there, Roch Bros, Liquor store, Cupcake Charlie's even CVS. Sam's Sea Food was close also, so good! Amazing seafood and whole fried belly calms.. Everything was local it was perfect! Also, right around the cottage walking distance was a small beach area for local residence. People brought their dogs there and kids were running in for quick dip. The cottage itself was amazing. My father and brother were there also. I think the max people allowed is 6. There was a master bedroom, with TV and couch. And then another bedroom with 3 beds! And even had an extra twin bed. When we arrived the place was so clean! That was my biggest fear for my 5 month old, that it was going to be dirty/ dusty but it wasn't! The living room was huge, new floors it seemed like with a nice ceiling fan... there is no AC but we opened up all the windows and it was just fine.. the house is kind of shaded by all the trees so it worked out well. All the appliances seemed new too.. fridge that worked great, dish washer and washer and dryer. Bathroom was a little small but tub was nice and big.. my son's big baby tub fit just fine.. It was great! The cottage had cable too, which was nice because we were able to watch the Bruins game! The yard is huge and we enjoyed nightly fires and my dogs laid under the shade of the trees all day! Tons of trees to use a runner or tie them up too. Gas grill outside as well. We were 100% satisfied with our stay! Every penny was worth it. It was a huge change from camping but wanted something a little easier with our 5 month old baby. Neighborhood was nice, everyone was so friendly. It was not a busy street either which was awesome because I wasn't worried for my dogs if they ran out to street. We are planning on renting it again next year. The owner Dean was super nice, answered when ever we called and he was so generous. So glad we found this comfy cozy cottage! Hope ya'll enjoy it as much as we did!
