We had a great stay at Thorndyke Lodge. Our only regret was booking for only 2 nights as we did not get a chance to get into the park for any activities. However, we had plenty of fun staying at the house, enjoying the beach, and playing games. The sleeping arrangements were so perfect, nobody had to make do with a spot. Everyone had their own space (we had 7 adults, 3 kids and a toddler) and slept so comfortably. The giant dining table was another fantastic feature. We really got to spend time together sitting around it for meals and games. It was really neat to see how far the tide would go out and then come back. The kids got a kick out of the little swimming hole. The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of room for the many cooks :) We messed up and didn't buy our groceries on the way in, but the store run is not too far. We really enjoyed our stay!
Such a Heavenly Location
The listing does not do this property justice. You’re literally feet from a private beach from which you can’t see another human or hear one. Talk about tranquil! We had grandparents, aunt and uncle and cousins with our family of six. Everyone LOVED this property. One tip - do your grocery shopping on your way in, bc you’re a good 30 min one way from a full grocery store. But, we all wished we had another full day to just hang at the property and enjoy the views and nature! The kids loved all the shells and sea life on the beach!!
We enjoyed every part of our stay! The kids has a blast at the swimming hole, while we enjoyed the lovely views.
My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful place. Amazing property.
Clean, spacious & comfortable in a private nature preserve-like setting.
Very clean, spacious & comfortable house with panoramic overlook by tidelands, one of the few remaining, unspoiled estuaries in Hood Canal. Very privately situated at road's end by old-growth forest in a nature preserve-like setting with plenty of deck & grassy field spaces. Peaceful, serene with sights & sounds of waterfowl: Bald Eagles, Ducks, Great Blue Herons, Kingfishers, Seagulls, Terns, etc. Also forest birds including woodpeckers, songbirds, owls, etc. Direct beach & shore access to Hood Canal. Classic Pacific Northwest scenery of undeveloped forest shoreline, tidal saltwater. A nature-lover's haven. Interestingly connected to the history of Pope & Talbot developments in Greater Puget Sound. Return for sure!
