Lovely hideaway with California King Bed and gorgeous views. Can be used alone or as an add-on to the main house, Casita del Cielo VRBO listing # 3551710 (there is a full lot between the two) . A most lovely and romantic spot. Use of the main house washer and dryer (located in outside building). This Mini Casita is not meant for groups. 340 SF, Large Deck included with seating and views as well. Add on rate to main house is $139/ night (so you get a great discount for booking both).
I bought my first home in this neighborhood in 2001 and have been at it ever since. It took years in Los Angeles to find my 'perfect' place that kept us in the city, but away from it all.
Kristie Holmes purchased this cottage in 2013
We fell in love at first sight. Open house was packed, and no one stayed less than an hour. We competed with four other offers and eventually won out.
Views, views, above the City of Angels. The price on this Mini Casita bets even the most obnoxiously priced hotels in the neighborhood by more than half- sometimes 70%. Plus you don't pay additional for a designated parking space or wifi!

Perfect location for Pilot Season Actors.
This neighborhood has a great history and we really enjoyed our stay in this casita.
Amazing experience! A true gem. Thanks Kristie!
Loved our stay at this quaint hide-away in the hills! The canyon is peaceful, yet minutes from Hollywood. We even had the pleasure of being met by a deer resting in the front yard one day. The mini casita was very comfortable, providing everything we needed to get a good night of rest after a full day of touring in LA. We will definitely consider staying here again!
Great place, great location. Owners made everything so simple and easy and were very communicative. Highly recommended!
Beautiful view, plenty of outdoor charm. Lots of trees and a nice outdoor area with 2 chaise lounges. (Hope it doesn't rain during your visit, because there is no comfortable chair anywhere else.) There is no grill for a reason; the dry grass hillside is a tinder keg. One stray spark and boom! Instant conflagration. Give up smoking while here! The deck is not well-maintained, badly needs some repair & paint to cover the plentiful grease stains.
It's so unfortunate that the indoors doesn't really match the beauty of the outdoors. There IS a firm king size bed, air conditioner, useful microwave and coffee maker, but that's about it as far as creature comforts go. The towels are quite nice, but the old and worn bed linens, pillows and pillowcases belong at Goodwill. What serves as "kitchenette" is an old sideboard (door hanging by just one hinge) that has a small bar sink and a faucet that doesn't work much -- no cold water at all, only a trickle of warm. Dishes must be washed in the bathroom sink, where there is some warm water. The "kitchenette" is poorly equipped, not even a salad bowl. Microwave and take-out meals are your best bet. Sweep up your crumbs, keep the garbage can covered. There are lots of ants in the wall above the sink. They visit often. No ant traps anywhere. There is a small bistro table with 2 very uncomfortable metal straight-back chairs, so tiny it's not very useful. The bathroom floor was really dirty. Don't go barefoot! The miniature tub/shower combo is a bit of a joke. Shower curtains are way too long, caked at the bottom with soap and mildew, tub is cracked, leaks onto floor. Difficult to not be standing on them when you shower. High ICK factor. The walls are dingy, who knows when the windows were last washed. But the beauty of the canyon itself will probably offset any shortcomings in your memory. The owner has other Laurel Canyon homes for rent; but it at least appears that she has not been to this one in quite a while; it appears poorly maintained, it's not shabby-chic, just shabby. Parking space is big enough for a compact, nothing larger, the road up is narrow and winding. The 55 uneven steps are a challenge, strong back and knees and good balance required. Have a flashlight; steps are not lighted at night, be very careful. (We were told "sorry, the lights washed out in the spring rains". It hasn't rained there in months, plenty of time to have long since have had them repaired, it seems.)
Such a lovely little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city! We can't wait to make a return trip and take in all of Laurel Canyon. The casita was perfect, had all the amenities anyone could need. The owner was out-of-this-world helpful, from lending us beach towels from her own private stash, to recommending the PERFECT place for a romantic dinner (Pace, down the hill by the Canyon Country Market). She was quick to respond to anything we needed - which took every bit of stress out of the trip.
The street up to the casita is STEEP and full of hairpin turns. While it's easy to find, you do need to be a bit of a confident driver. The description of the location of the property (from the owner) is spot on - when she says there's a parking space next to the steps, it is there! The amenities are just as described - coffee maker, fridge/freezer combo, microwave, toaster. There's even a hairdryer and little shampoo/conditioner bottles - just like a hotel!
Being from the Midwest, I am used to being able to walk most places, but Laurel Canyon is NOT made for walking. There is plenty of hiking available (you have to drive to get to the starting point), but be prepared to drive/Uber everywhere from the casita. There is no "oops, I forgot to pick up milk - I'll just walk down to the market and pick some up". If you need a big shopping trip, there are options minutes away in Hollywood. But if you need to just pick up an item or two, do NOT miss Canyon Country Market. Simply an adorable corner store - with such an incredible vibe. They have great coffee, served out front in the morning - enjoy it while watching the world pass by. And if you love Italian food - do NOT miss out on Pace. Right around the building from the Market - downstairs in what feels like a little cellar. The atmosphere is magical and the food was delish!
Many thanks to the owner for such a great experience. We WILL be back - hopefully sooner, rather than later!
