Great Space to spread out!
We live in Cary and love getting up to the lake house, play all day then relax under the stars at night. We love to kayak in the cove and ski and fish in the main lake. Our children love the floating island, water skiing and boating!
Sherry Williams purchased this house in 2005
The house is located about 15 minutes from I-85 just south of the Virginia state line only 1 1/2 hour from Raleigh. The layout of the house allows plenty of room when you need to get away for a little private time and the big rec room downstairs is great when you are ready to have fun.
You will see deer sometimes in the front yard. There is a big lawn in the front for the kids to run around, throw frisbee, etc. You can catch bass or catfish right off of the boathouse walkway. Be sure to enjoy the stars on a clear night. We like to take the boat down to Eaton's Ferry bridge and eat lunch at the grill or take the boat to eat at Watersview Restaurant or The Point!
I would defiantly recommend Sandpiper Manor. We had a great time and the layout of the home fit our two families perfectly. We had everything we needed and the home was well maintained. Sherry was great and easy to work with. We will defiantly be back next summer for another amazing week on the lake.
I would highly recommend this place. Stayed there last year. We had a few issues but they were taken care of in a timely manner. Agent was very easy to work with and the kids really enjoyed the kayaks and the adults enjoyed the hot tub. Property was clean and well-maintained. The listing was accurate regarding location, layout and amenities.
My thanks to the owner and the rental company, especially Sherry, for a wonderful place to stay! We had 3 teen-age girls, 3 older kids, 2 pups and my husband and I and everything we needed was there. The kids were so busy on the lake or in the game room that the TV's were rarely on. We took a few inner-tubes and with the kayaks and the large float that was there we were always in the water. The dogs loved it, we took our wireless fence which kept them out of the neighbors but they could still go in the water. We also rented a boat from the one of the local marinas for 2 days to enjoy the lake more...(not really happy with Morning Star Marina since the boat kept stalling, speedometer was broke, the Bimini Top straps were torn and the tow hooks could not be used) but having a boat to use, go fishing, and to see the lake was definitely worth it. Very lovely home, neighbors that lived there were very nice, cove area is secluded and peaceful, lake was beautiful! Would love to go back again.
We took 4 teenage boys and 2 teenage girls for the week and still can't believe what an incredible week we had. Our week involved fishing, boating, tubing, floating, swimming and kayaking. The days were gorgeous and the nights were peaceful. The setting of this house on the end of the cove was possibly one of the best locations on Lake Gaston. We had never done a Lake vacation before, and now we can't wait to do our NEXT one! Since July we have already re-visited the Lake for a weekend! The highlights of the week were definitely the fishing. At the opposite end of the cove, we caught some monster Catfish! What a thrill! It felt so nice to sit in the spacious living/dining room each evening, playing cards, games and just enjoying the peacefulness of the Lake. And thank you for opening your home to pets.....even our dog had the time of her life! She splashed in the water, ran on the dock and soaked in the sun. We can't wait to get back to Lake Gaston!
