Spectacular mountain views, big living room & game room, king & queen beds, 3BR
We are both educators working from home. We live part of our time on the western part of the state but still go back to spend time close to the coast of NC, close to our family. Caleb, our son, is now thirteen years old. We were fortunate enough to adopt him from China eleven years ago. God has blessed us in many ways- in finding one another and in having such a loving family.
Tony purchased this Cottage in 2012
Why Tony chose Blowing Rock
Being in Misty Mountain is like being at home, but better. No matter what part of the North Carolina Mountains we visit from time to time we always end up back at Misty Mountain. This cottage is located in such an ideal setting. Very few cars coming and going next door, no barking dogs to wake you and the only stoplights are in town. Yet, it's close enough to the nearest restaurant, store, or any other sign of civilization you're looking for. It is just a great place to let your nerves settle. Take a cup of coffee out back and unwind. Or if you prefer you could enjoy a bottle of wine with a few crackers and cheese. You are away from it all in a nice quiet neighborhood. Neighbors in Misty Mountain are quietly doing their own thing. The foliage gives you barriers for more tranquility It cost little more than a hotel room but offers so much more. We will do everything we can to help take care of your needs while you stay at Caleb's Outlook.
What makes this Cottage unique
The location is really quite ideal. Blowing Rock is touristy without being overdone. They have very nice restaurants, candy stores (including the famous Kilwins), specialty shops, and so much more. From the front, back or sides of Caleb's you see nothing but great scenery and nice houses sitting in yards left with Mother Nature's handiwork. Misty Mountain neighborhood is full of upscale houses that has been a favorite vacation spot for many years. It is a neighborhood where you will feel safe. The paved lanes are curvy and steep but in A1 shape as the local crews keep them free from leaves or snow, whichever the case may be. Holly Lane is an easy road for travel with a slow incline that you will appreciate especially during the winter months. You can sit in the living room during the winter months and watch the snow just as if you sitting outside in the snow due to the glass doors and long windows. We have made every attempt to put window treatments that will protect you from the sun in the summer months. There are so many comforts to make your stay a good one.

Overall enjoyable stay but could use a good cleaning
The location, views and size of the property was perfect for our family. The only reason it didn't get 4 or 5 stars overall from us is the fact that the house was quite dirty, especially in the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as the toys downstairs for our little ones. We had to wipe down the counters, refrigerator, toys and showers extensively before using. Overall we really enjoyed our stay though, we were hiking and in downtown blowing rock the majority of the visit and were rarely in the house and when we were there we enjoyed the deck and the beautiful views outside.
Hello: This news is as disappointing to us as it was for you. We have had very good results with the same maid for the past four years, so there must have been some kind of mix-up in this rare instance. I am sorry that you did not contact us at the beginning of your stay, as we are ready to respond and would certainly have had the maid, who lives in Blowing Rock, come back to the house. A simple text or call by us to the maid and she would have been there within the hour to address any problem.
We have notes from the maid as to the cleanup of each room, before your stay, but as you were not satisfied we are happy to offer you one night's free stay on your next visit. We contacted you through VRBO and through your personal email, to share information with you about the house, and as we are with any renters, we were ready to respond to any issues- but we can only do so when contacted at the beginning of, or any time during, your stay.
As can be noted by the positive ratings we have received over the past several years, your experience was highly unusual. We care about each renter and do respond to any questions or issues any renter has. Glad you enjoyed the wonderful view- sorry you did not contact us so we could have ensured that your stay was everything you hoped it would be.
All the comforts of home...with a VIEW!
King bed comfy (only one we used), TVs plentiful, kitchen well-stocked with everything from crockpot and waffle iron to pots, pans, dishes, glassware, silverware. There wasn’t one thing we wished for and didn’t have.
The view off the decks is serene and beautiful. We enjoyed just being still and watching the clouds get snagged on the peak of the mountain and the cloud shadows chase across the landscape.
At first, I was unsure of where to park but a quick call to the owner let us know to pull right up on the deck in front. Owner was great to work with throughout transaction.
Thank you Tony & Sybil! PS - love the new rugs!
Thank you so much- you were great to work with. Hope to have you back real soon.
What a View!
The view is breathtaking from the living room and bedroom. It’s an all season view and worth the visit. We had a very relaxing week in this cabin. It was so cold when we were there(8 degrees), but the fire and heat kept us nice and warm. We had snow twice but no problems at all with the roads. The parking right at the front door is a huge plus.
The appliances in the kitchen are old and need replacing along with the pots and pans. The gas stove cooked way too hot, even on the lowest setting. But we still enjoyed cooking and eating at the table watching the clouds and mist roll in. That’s the only reason this cabin got a 4. We would definitely go back.
I was recently there and checked on the pot situation. I took them all out and the counters were completely covered from end to end with 2-3 of every size, plus a griddle, waffle maker, large pot for cooking hams and a large and small roaster. We have so many things there to cook in so I cannot understand this complaint. I have personally placed them up on the upper shelves for our guests convenience so hopefully this will help future renters. I am sorry you had trouble cooking on our stove as we are always quite satisfied. I always purchase really nice pots and dishes. Thank you for your review.
Nice place, beautiful view
Had a great week. The house worked out well for my family. We would definitely stay there again.
So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to have you back real soon. The view is spectacular there for sure! Caleb's offers lots of privacy for the bigger families, is peaceful and has a wonderful location.
Awesome home and view!
My family and I really enjoyed this home, the location, the view. The home is comfortable, warm, cozy and clean. It has all you need. Beds very comfortable. The view is breathtaking and the outside decks are awesome. Most importantly, we had booked this for 3 days in September. Hurricane Florence decided to come onshore near us. We were unable to make our trip. Anthony was so kind to let us pick another time to come. Thank you so much for being that kind to strangers. My 88 yo father in law loves your home and wants to come back! So do I!
Caleb's Outlook is perfect for young and old alike. We spend time during the off season upgrading and making things better. It is nice when someone expresses how they enjoyed all our efforts. Thank you so much.
Peaceful and Relaxing
Great place to stay! It was clean, quiet, in a great location, and had an amazing view. Would stay here again with a small or large group!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The view is great isn't it? So happy you could take time to relax and enjoy all the peace and tranquility the area has to offer. Hope to hear from you again real soon.
Caleb's Outlook is only a few minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 5 minutes away. Tweetsie Rr is about ten minutes away. Julian Price Park, in the Blue Ridge Parkway, is nearby. About twenty minutes from the house on the Parkway is Linville and Linville Falls. Also in the Linville area is Grandfather Mountain (which can be viewed from the cabin).
