Our spacious houseboat is moored in the Atchafalaya Basin. You can explore the swamps with the kayaks provided or rent the fishing/ski boat that is tied up to Summertime Houseboat. Take a swamp or airboat tour from local vendors if you wish. The houseboat sleeps up to 10. Relax in the quiet scenic beauty of the Louisiana bayou. Enjoy the beauty of nature, dine and dance to live Cajun/country music on the weekends during summer months.
The Summer Time is a 56 foot houseboat located in the heart of the Atchafalaya Natural Heritage Area, one of southern Louisiana's finest bayous. The Atchafalaya Basin is rich in natural flora and fauna. Activities include bayou sightseeing, fishing, bird watching and just plain relaxation!
Summer Time is moored in the Bayou Long off of East Stephensville Road deep in bayou country. You are just steps away from The Mosquito Bar where the locals congregate in the evenings to have a cold drink and a chat. Sit outside under the gazebo on the pier to enjoy the exceptional beauty of the bayou at sunset, or enjoy live music during the weekends. 4 miles further down the road is Gros Marina, which has live music on weekends during the warmer months of April to October. Summer Time has 3 bedrooms and can sleep up to 10 people; There are two full baths, one with shower and one with tub/shower combo. The houseboat is equipped with heating and air conditioning. A full kitchen includes dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, stove, coffee maker and toaster. A dining table for 4 and breakfast bar that seats 4 are off of the kitchen. An entertainment center in the living room includes a color TV with cable , DVD player, radio, and a selection of DVDs, books and games. Free Wi-Fi is available. The upper deck is covered. Under the covered area is a full wet bar that seats 4 and a dining area that seats 6. The upper deck also includes a Green Egg Bar-B-Q grill, hot tub, and selection of lounge chairs for sunbathing.
The houseboat is 85 miles west of New Orleans and its historic beauty and also a 90 minute drive south of Lafayette with its rich Cajun culture! New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette are close enough to visit via day trips and enjoy their many attractions all year round.
