As a South Florida resident for over 50 years, I have always enjoyed the Florida Keys for the fishing, boating and relaxation. The Keys are truly a unique and wonderful place to visit. You have all of the advantages and convience of being in the USA while having an out island experience. The water is crystal clear and the reefs are unbelievable. And its only an hour drive from Miami.
Steven Stenmark purchased this townhome in 2009
Mariners Resort is the most beautiful development I have stayed at in the Keys. The landscaping and beautiful buildings are not found anywhere else in the upper Keys. The Marina is world class and so is the Clubhouse and pools. You really won't find a better place in the upper Keys.
Group of 5 (4 adults / 1 child) stayed at this townhouse 3/19-3/25/16. We were so excited to stay in what appeared by the photos on the VRBO website to be a beautiful townhome rental. While the location was great-the Marina itself was nice, the pool was awesome, and Marina security was just right...we were really let down with the townhome. There were so many things not working, broken, or missing. The property was just not kept up; it could be very nice but it is run down; obvious wear and tear taking its toll. It didn't feel very clean, either. (a dessicated gekko body found in the lower level living area--missed for how long by the cleaning people? A shirt from a previous renter was found behind a chair in the master bedroom, an enormous cockroach was scuttling around in the entryway. Although the cockroach thing is understandable, I guess, as they are problematic in even the cleanest of places in Fla. The bathmats are disgusting, and the carpets are stained and need a good steam cleaning) A few examples of the broken/missing/not working things we had to put up with: only 1 house key left in lockbox (supposed to have 2), broken furniture--chairs in living area, toilet seat completely broken off in upstairs guest bath (1st time using bathroom, and almost fell into toilet. :( hinges on seat completely rusted through ), bed skirts torn/ripped, screens on patio doors torn and had holes, none of the locks work on the patio doors/broken, toilet in master bath not flushing properly, shower curtains missing hooks, not enough hangers in closets, ironing boards but no irons, closet door missing in upstairs guest bedroom, glass table on main balcony is chipped and table slopes to one side, bedroom lamp switch broken, we were given wrong WiFi password (we figured out the correct one on our own), drain plugs don't work or are missing, lower level bath tub needs new anti-skid material. Yes, it was a lot of little stuff that really didn't make or break our vacation but it was annoying and we shouldn't have had to deal with it. We paid a cleaning fee as part of rental fee---the property owner may want to get better cleaning service. We didn't get our money's worth ! We did call the agent for the owner of the property right away to let him know of the toilet flushing problem, the broken toilet seat, and to get the correct WiFi password. He checked on it-but checked the wrong unit. Most of the problems require minimal expense to fix. Hopefully soon!
The pictures of this property do not do this justice. We could not be more pleased with the townhome. We had 10 adults (four families) sharing this property with plenty of room for all to spread out. Were able to cook and eat comfortably for 10. If you want a great high end, gated property, you will not go wrong with this townhome. The main pool is to die for. Even saw an iguana sunning herself by the pool. The view at the marina is gorgeous. We did have some issues when we arrived, but we contacted the rental agent right away and everything, and I mean everything was fixed or corrected by the next day. On day two of our eight day stay, at about 8 - 9 pm, the owner of the unit showed up. Not the rental agent, the owner. He comes to apologize for the condition of the townhome. That spoke loudly to us. We could tell he was nervous as he probably expected us to yell and cuss him out with the unit (evidently, there are others that do this). We were all impressed by him doing this and had a great conversation. Being polite also helps to pick the brain of a local to find out the places to visit and eat. Between the owner and the maintenance guy, we found the places to visit and eat.
If you want places to go, the State Park has snorkeling, kayaking, glass bottom boat, etc. Everglades airboat rides/alligator farms are near by. Theatre of the Sea was fun. Even hit Key West one day, about a 2 hour drive. Try the hogfish at Wahoo's in Islamorada. Would we stay at this townhome again? In a heartbeat. We went for my sons wedding. Don't know if I will ever be able to get back to Key Largo, but if I do, I know where I want to stay. Mariner's Resort.
Our family of 6 spent 4 nights in this wonderful home the end of July. The entire rental process was very smooth and painless. The complex is very safe and pleasant. The home is spacious and the bottom level is an apartment in itself. Being on 3 levels, I might hesitate recommending this unit for elderly or those having difficulty navigating stairs, but the lower level would be no problem. The furnishings are of good quality and we really liked the Tommy Bahama décor. Personally, I did not care for the "plastic wrap" on the mattress (it gave the bed that "crinkly" feel and sound), but I understand it. The pool facility is great as well. This was a fantastic find and we were very comfortable.
My family and I rented this townhome for a long weekend in April 2015 and it was a wonderful experience. We were 6 adults and 3 children and there were many things to do for all of us, either in the resort (pool, beach, jacuzzi, tennis) or close by (snorkeling, diving, kayaking). The Rental representative was amazing with all her help from the moment I contacted her to the moment we left the premises with her assistance in how to get there, how to access the internet, and all the questions we had (and we did have some :-). The place was very clean and equipped with all the necessary basic needs and it was very close to many restaurants so if you really do not want to cook, you do not need to. If we come back to the keys, we will definitely come back to this place and we highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the exotic side of the keys and staying close to Miami.
The pool was the best part about our short stay! The house was fairly clean, but ill-equipped - not enough linen or towels, no basic cleaning supplies and the kitchen was extremely lacking in utensils, dishes and pots & pans! While in search of more linens, we found that there were dirty linens and towels left in the wash room and even in the dryer!! Security, too, was a big issue. I know that there is a guard at the gate, but the issue of 2 sliding doors not locking was definitely a concern. We had to put a broom in the track so no one could just walk in. It says it has WiFi, but really it didn't! The passwords provided did not work. My fiancé is a very busy realtor and the lack of WiFi nearly lost him a sale! One of our guests (who showed up later) had his own personal hot spot, which he loaned to us for the weekend. Thank Goodness for that! Many ceiling lights were out and the TVs didn't all work either, or the cable was not accessible. When we called about our concerns, they NEVER called us back! We asked several times to be able to see the unit before our stay, but our requests were denied. After we returned home, and we contacted the "owners" again (which just happens to be The Mariner's Club itself), we were first told that they would make it up to us with a stay "for little or nothing". Well, that never happened! Then we were offered $100 refund (totally insufficient), but to be done with it - fine. Well, it's been 2 months now since our stay and 1 month from when it was promised and we still have not received the $100 credit back to the credit card. The only thing we did receive was the runaround by the renting representative.
This was our family Labor Day vacation and this town house was a perfect fit for us (9 total). The weather was extraordinary, 3 beautiful sunshine days. Very clean, perfect location. The pool was great, very relaxing and the entire facility very well maintained. The Ocean Grille Restaurant next door was perfect, no need to drive, just enjoy the ocean view while walking the complex. Security was just right.
