Casa Diamante is a luxurious, fully-furnished Spanish-colonial style casa with spacious rooms (three bedrooms, four bathrooms) three terraces with inspiring views of San Miguel’s iconic Parroquia and Historic Centro. The casa is situated on the historic and cobblestone street of Montes de Oca in a quiet, safe neighbourhood just four blocks from the artistic, social and cultural heart of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Spacious and comfortable, Casa Diamante offers bright, colourful interiors with living spaces for relaxing including an outdoor sala, roof-top tejado, lush gardens and stunning panoramic views. The 18th century architecture, thick adobe walls, high ceilings, arched doorways and colourful ceramics are creatively mixed with modern amenities and contemporary Mexican décor. “It’s SO fantastic! The large, fully-quipped kitchen with a ceramic-tiled island for cooking and seating, comes with extras including a microwave, blender, Kirkland cookware, a toaster oven and beautiful ceramic bowls and serving dishes from Delores Hidalgo. A full water purification system provides safe drinking water throughout the house.
In the dining room, the one-of-a-kind, hand-made dining table and high-back, upholstered chairs seats up to eight people in style and comfort. Both dining and living rooms have glass doors opening up to a garden courtyard with a fountain, wood burning fireplace and outdoor dining area.
Opening onto the garden courtyard with wood-burning chiminea, the large master bedroom has a king-size bed, ornately carved headboard, fireplace and walk-in closet. The oversize bathroom has double sinks, a separate ceramic – tiled shower with a rain head, plus a Kohler whirlpool bath encased in pink Cantera stone. A glass ceiling and a walkout to a tiny garden gives this bathroom a luxurious feel.
The second bedroom is equally large with a Juliette balcony overlooking the courtyard, an ensuite bath with double sinks, a shower stall and lots of natural light. The third bedroom, with its own private bathtub and shower has single beds and doubles as a study with desk and work space.
San Miguel is acclaimed as the creative capital of Mexico and home to a vast community of artists, writers, poets. Steeped in history, folklore and legendary tales it sparkles with year-round celebrations, music festival, fireworks, parades and pageants. Nestled at an altitude of 6400' in the mountains four hours north of Mexico City, it boasts spring-like weather year-round and with temperatures in the 70°s F (21-26° C.), blue skies, brilliant sunshine and low humidity, San Miguel is an unique paradise.
San Miguel is almost 500 years old, and the cobblestone streets, houses, monuments bullring and cathedrals reflect this but nearby are modern conveniences including shopping plazas, nightclubs, live theatre and cinemas. In the historic center, there are an estimated two thousand doors, behind which there are at least two thousand courtyards of various contemporary design. Most of the casas have been restored to their former colonial state,with facades of ochre, orange and yellow, windows and doors framed by handcrafted ironwork and made of hewn wood.
You can visit nearby shops, art galleries, outdoor craft markets; botanical garden, spas, cathedrals, hundred of top-notch reasonably-priced restaurants. There’s plenty to do here including taking classes in drawing, painting, ceramics, weaving, photography, printmaking, language, cooking, yoga or visiting art galleries, exhibitions, concerts hall, horseback riding, hiking, golfing or simply enjoying the grandeur and unique ambience of a UNESCO world heritage site.
From SMA there are wonderful historical, ecological, archaeological or just plain magical places to visit. Guanajuanto (famous for shoes and leather goods), Dolores Hildalgo (known for Talavera ceramics and tiles), La Luz (ghost mining town famous for gold and silver) and Xote (hot springs/swimming park) make wonderful day trips.
Depending on the number of persons our standard rental rate is $150 per night which includes the services of a housekeeper, gardener, maintenance, taxes, internet, satellite television and utilities. Minimum rental is one week. Our housekeeper Teresa or gardener-handyman Miguel who speaks excellent English will help you with all your needs or requests.
