Why Michael Deneui chose Russian River

I love the Russian River. It is beautiful. The house is only 20 minutes walk to downtown and the scenery is gorgeous. This is upscale Guerneville in a very quiet and charming neighborhood.

Perfect cabin for a perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a good bit of time trying to find the perfect place for us to get together with family. We ultimately chose Michael's cabin and we were not disappointed, nor were the other 2 couples who joined us. The cabin was cozy, clean, tastefully decorated, and quite dialed in with the amenities. The beds in all 3 bedrooms were some of the most comfortable beds around (all of them made up with very pretty, high-quality bedding). The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of dishes and enough pots and pans (if you are creative) to put out a meal for six people. We spent a lot of time enjoying the lovely deck, while sipping some of the wine we got touring Sonoma, and playing some of the games that Michael has in his cabin for his guests. The little town in which this cabin is located, Guerneville, is charming and welcoming and not too long a walk away.

Michael was extremely gracious and very responsive. His instructions for gaining access to the cabin were clear and simple. All in all, we would choose his lovely cabin again. It most certainly met our expectations.

Beautiful, romantic cottage...

  • 4 of 5

Definitely take your sweetheart to this adorable cottage that is truly nestled among the redwoods. Divine. Private. Beautiful views. Plenty of room for two couples, too. The kitchen has ALL the amenities. And the hot tub is a major plus! Just minutes from "downtown" and several restaurants (high end and low end). Plenty of hiking available at Armstrong Park (short 10 minute drive). And Johnson's Beach terrific. Take a swim in the river!

Awesome cabin experience!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfect for getting together with our friends. We each had our own bedroom with comfy beds. Very tastefully decorated and has everything you need. Great location with a short walk to town. Definitely would rent again. Very helpful owner as well.

Cabin on a hill

  • 3 of 5

The advertisement doesn't misrepresent itself but I will say I learned a few things that I know now if I ever try to have a natural getaway again. I'm usually a camper but I gave in to some friends who wanted a shabby chique "glamping" experience.

The cabin is well kept. It definitely sleeps 8. It was clean. Lovely tiling. Super hot tub. Great front deck. Although a bit small for 8.

The kitchen was absurd only in the sheer amount of stuff in the cabinets. There wasn't even a shelf for the few dry goods we brought.

The table outside was nice enough but for.us quite unusable. You have to skirt around an odd dirt path to reach it. The deck is elevated off the ground a foot on one side and two on the other with no railing. If you happen to have those in your party unsurefooted, as we did, you'll have to make do with buffet style dining and eating on the couch. Which by the way falls off of it's futon framework every few hours.

My last gripe is the locale is really no good if you want to be able to wander without a car. The road has no sidewalk to speak of and the populace seems happy to speed down the narrow roads at quite a pace. There was no walking to the river with kids for us. Although I think I found the river access; it's a harbour only accessible from a steep, dirt path. If you are traveling with kids, this place reminds you how nice it would be if only there was a yard or some outside space they could play in. Not what I was envisioning. Oh well.

Owner's Response: Firstly, I don't understand this renter. He says he is used to camping. The cabin is WAY above camping and we have worked hard to make it that way so I'm not sure what he was expecting. Secondly, you are CAMPING in a CABIN in the woods. Again, I'm not sure what the renter was expecting. Thirdly, the river access is 5 minutes away and had he read his instructions he would find a map that showed him the access point. Also, he could have called me anytime to help out. Lastly, everyone in the neighborhood walks Drake rd to town and have done so without incident for over 65 years. It's a pleasant walk and I'm not sure what he was talking about because many locals use the road to walk back and forth to town. In summary, folks before you rent please be aware this is a cabin from 1930. It has been lovingly renovated to give you all the creature comforts. If you really don't want to camp there is a lovely Radison in Petaluma right on the river I would like to recommend. Please don't give me a 3 star rating based on being in the woods in a small cabin. That's what the ad says.

All you would ever need!

Absolutely perfect cabin for the Labor Day weekend. Had all the amenities you could want and more. Close enough to downtown and beaches but still felt tucked away and remote. Would highly recommend!!
