THE LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE SLEEPS UP TO 4 GUESTS
The Suite sleeps up to 4 guests in a QUEEN PLUSH bed, upgraded FULL size sleeper sofa, and a TWIN bed. The studio suite provides a semi separated sleeping area from the living room for the Queen bed and twin mattress. The Sofa Bed is located in the living room area.

Parking on the property requires driving a short distance on Cleator Road our Access Road / driveway:
~ it is STEEP in spots,
~ it is made of LOOSE GRAVEL
~ it has 3 TIGHT TURNS.
An all-wheel or 4-wheel drive vehicle the size of a Ford Explorer or smaller is required to drive our Access Road / Driveway. Road. Or, you may choose to park your 2 wheel drive vehicle at the top of the road and take the 5 minute walk down to the cottage. Parking is free.
2WD VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED TO PARK AT THE TOP OF OUR DRIVEWAY/ ACCESS ROAD
CLEATOR ROAD SHUTTLE SERVICE
If you drive a 2 wheel drive vehicle we have an optional Cleator Road Shuttle service for your convenience. Our Shuttle Driver will drive your luggage down Cleator Road at Check-in and up Cleator Road at check-out. All arrangements must be made in advance. *Ask about the details. Fee: $40 *This service is dependent on our driver’s availability and may not be available for all requests.

ARRIVE BY BUS - LEAVE YOUR CAR AT HOME
After you exit the ferry follow the signs to the bus stop, catch the C11 bus to Eagle Cliff, and the driver will drop you at the top of our driveway, Cleator Road. Be sure to tell the driver your destination. The cost is $2.50 and the ride is only 15 minutes.

SEPARATION AND PRIVACY UPGRADES
The LAZY BOWEN HIDEAWAY and the LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE have had extensive sound abatement upgrades between the rentals. The LAZY B WATERFRONT SUITE ceiling has been refurbished with 2 layers of Roxul Safe n Sound, Z - Channels with Quiet Rock attached (equal to 8 layers of sheet rock) plus sound proof caulking around the perimeter of the Suite. SUCCESS…..Voices and normal TV noises have been removed, a 300% improvement. The foot fall from the Hideaway above is muffled and greatly improved but cannot been eliminated 100%.
HEALTHY AIR CIRCULATION
We have installed a Heat Recovery Ventilation System which continuously circulates warmed fresh outside air throughout the property. In addition the storage and basement areas have been lined with Clean Space Liner sealing out all moisture created by the rock sub-floors……….no musty cabin smells…….all FRESH HEALTHY AIR INSIDE AND OUT.

About Jan Stevens
Jan Stevens was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. She studied art and Interior Design at the University of Washington. In 1982 she moved to Henderson, Nevada where she designed one-of-a-kind interiors for hundreds of clients. Over 13 years ago, when her son was an infant, she established Jan Stevens Design and began her successful design business while working out of her house and being “Mom” at the same time. Jan has designed stylish, comfortable and gorgeous interiors for over 30 years. Jan’s creativity and organizational skills has lead her to other entrepreneurial endeavors such as fundraising, graphic design, writing, and photography, as well as managing the Lazy Bowen Hideaway as a vacation rental. Over the last 10 years, following her passion for Bowen’s natural beauty, Jan began photographing the island sunsets, landscapes, and flora. Starting as a hobby the photographs were given as gifts to friends and neighbors as calendars and note cards. With the encouragement of a good friend, Jan has just recently signed, framed and displayed some of her best work at the Lazy Bowen Hideaway. All of Jan’s Bowen Island photography is available for sale. With all of Jan’s relatives being Canadian and living in the Vancouver area Jan’s frequent visits to her Bowen Island home makes staying in touch with family easy. The goal in the near future is to spend equal time between the sunny Southwest and the temperate rain forest of Bowen Island. This would be the best of both worlds. UPDATE AS OF FEBRUARY 2013 ~ I am proud to say that I am now a dual citizen, US and Canadian, retroactive back to my date of birth in 1955.

We have over 50 years of irreplaceable childhood memories of family time at the cabin: playing cards, board games, and swimming all day and night. Peaceful and comfortable
Jan's place is exactly as pictured. It is very clean, comfortable, has everything you would need, and the view is amazing! It was quite a hike to get back to the main road or to the house, but it's worth it.
Amadea, that 8 minute hike up to the main road is part of the unique character for the Lazy B Waterfront Suite, isn't it? A great exercise opportunity. In the old days (1955 - 1970) it was a deer trail and we did not have the option to park on the property with an All or 4 wheel drive vehicle. Today guests can drive down the access road and park on property with the proper vehicle. Once in the Suite the view and all the comforts of a great vacation are there.
The Bowen Hideaway is excellent. Great breathtaking view, beach steps away, all the imenities for a relaxing stay.
Pack light for the hike down the hill to the suite or bring a 4wheel drive vehicle.
Good visit had by all three of us on our women's getaway.

Restful, refreshing, rejuvenating!
We arrived tired and weary and left rested and refreshed! Beautiful suite, scenery and sounds of waves greeted us each day. Warnings about the road are accurate, extremely steep and difficult to navigate. As mentioned by the owner, a smaller 4 wheel drive is preferred. Our Highlander was a bit big but we conquered! Absolutely stunning!

The memories linger!
Here we are months later, and we still long for the tranquility that we found so abundantly at the Lazy B Hideaway. To wake up with the sea at your feet, it was like time stood still. We had a wonderful time and will always remember our stay. As I'm sure it's been mentioned, the warnings about the driveway are legitimate and you should heed them. We had a mid size 4 wheel drive and at times had difficulty navigating the very steep and winding road to the Hideaway. Island/coast life has it's benefits and sometimes, drawbacks. But obviously it can be done, so as long as you're prepared you'll be fine. This is the only reason for the 4 star review. Everything else was wonderful and exceeded our expectations. Thanks again for the treasured memories!

We are so glad that you mentioned our driveway as this is an important feature that we make sure our guests are fully aware of the All Wheel Drive or 4 Wheel drive requirement. We now provide a video tutorial on how to best navigate the driveway along with written instructions which have been a welcome tool used by our guests. The first trip down can be thrilling and after that easy peasy.
Of course, for our guests that are either driving a 2WD or don't feel confident driving down our driveway... AND would welcome an exercise opportunity, it is always an option to park at the top of the driveway and make the 5-minute walk down to our waterfront home. Breathing in the fresh sea air while walking down the used-to-be deer trail and now our access road is all part of the Bowen Island experience.

BEWARE ~ VRBO & HOMEAWAY are showing rates in USD - We quote and collect in Canadian $$. Scroll to rates to change to CAD. Base rate is for double occupancy. + $40 per night per each additional guest (children are considered guests) + $15 per pet per night (upon approval: age, size, type needed) maximum 2 pets + $85 cleaning fee All rates plus 5% gst and 8% accommodation pst Maximum Occupancy of 4 guests AWD or 4WD required to park on the property. ask for details. You might like to know................. We start our base rate at double occupancy because 60% of our guests are couples. We want couples to pay a fair nightly rate for their stay. We then add for additional guests to compensate for the additional amenity, water, power, and cleaning required. You might like to know.............. Our additional guest rate includes adults and children. With the exception of infants that are not yet walking, we do charge for all guests including children. Unlike hotel rooms we have many nooks and crannies, glass, and objects that require deep cleaning like a real home. Our house keepers do an excellent job of cleaning after each turnover and this all takes additional time with additional guests. Plus all guests use bedding, water, towels, and other amenities.
