This location has it all! A sandy beachfront and one of the most spectacular views on the North Shore. Most beachfront houses just look out at open ocean. However, this Oahu guest house has been built to provide full 180° views of Laie Bay, Hukilau Beach, Malaekahana State Park, and Goat Island. This beachfront lot offers a private, gated access to Laie Beach. Do you remember the lyrics in the Hawaiian song 'All the Hulau nets are swishing, down in Old Laie Bay'? Well this is the spot that that the song was written about.
A little less than one hour from downtown Honolulu, this beautiful location will give you an 'Outer Island' experience without the extra airfare cost and time, traveling to Maui or Kauai. Some of Oahu's biggest attractions such as the Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Golf Links, and world-famous North Shore surfing beaches are only a few minutes away from this Laie retreat. It's the perfect blend for a paradise island getaway.
This large 390 square foot studio, was primarily designed as a guest accommodation to the main house. It's fully-equipped tile kitchen and bath will delight you. The studio sports 10 foot high ceilings and large, panoramic ocean views from both the huge 3ft. x 6ft, kitchen window and from the 6 ft. sliding glass door. Its queen-size 'wall bed' folds away during the day to optimize space (regular size mattress not a thin pull out). Although the unit has a window unit air conditioner, most people prefer to leave the sliding glass doors open and fall asleep listening to the tranquil surf sounds.
Choose the perfect setting for your morning breakfast of tropical fruit. Just outside your door is a tile lanai or a few steps down is your own private sun deck, complete with lounge chairs and table. A hillside of tropical plants, ponds and the sound of the ocean await you..
The owners live in the main house. Must love cats! This is a multiple cat household, they are outdoor cats and are never allowed into the guest house. There is convenient (off street) driveway parking for your rental car with your own private gated entrance, this studio has it all...Great views and beachfront too. This is truly a unique beachfront rental at an affordable rate, not to be missed, so come and share our beautiful little piece of paradise! Be sure to view our previous 'Guest Comments' (Like E-Bay feedback!). We have 99.9% 5-Star, guest comments/ratings since 2004 and one 3-Star:(

Scroll down all the way to view our 16 photos of this property! Sorry, there are not to many different ways to photograph a studio and bath. So we have added several photos of the turtles and monk seals that frequent the beach in front of the house. NOAA officials have named that monk seal 'Cookie' because of the 'cookie cutter shaped scar on her back. Another monk seal; 'Honeygirl' also likes to spend time sunning right in front of the house. We also show several photos of the views from the rental, as well as some nearby attractions.

My husband and I stayed here for two weeks in January 2015. Wow, sleep to the sound of the waves, wake up to a view of the beach and bay. The pictures on the site are very accurate. The bed was comfortable. The suite was clean and lots of towels. Beach toys and beach towels along with a cooler bag so you can head out for the day and pack your lunch. The kitchen worked well for dinners in and we used the barbecue for fresh fish from Foodland just a short walk away. This is one of those spots when you arrive and you just go "aaahhh". Loved the kitties, the duck, the turtles, and the hermit crabs. We've already booked our return trip, need I say more?
We stayed at this beautiful beach front property and totally enjoyed our experience there. It was a clean, well maintained and inviting studio apartment as described in the listing. The queen bed was comfortable and the accommodations served us well. We received excellent customer service including emails and phone calls before our stay. We arrived at night by following very specific instructions sent to us. Once we arrived, the owner kindly showed us around the apartment and answered our questions. We also received a written sheet of instructions. We were contacted ahead of time to make sure that we would be amenable to cats on the property and we were. We enjoyed walks along the sandy beaches and snorkeling in an area we could walk to from the apartment. We saw the beautiful sunrise only a 1/4 mile walk away. We enjoyed eating at the Fiju Curry shack not far away and had Polynesian bread at Tita's. We loved our day at the Polynesian Cultural Center and went back again for free just to walk around again. We went to and enjoyed the Valley of the Temples and drove to the Punchbowl Military Cemetery. We went to the USS Arizona Memorial. We visited the L.D.S. Temple visitor's center. We love taking pictures and were seldom at a loss for a beautiful panorama or close up shot of the amazing ocean or vegetation of Hawaii. The waves were large at the North Shore and we watched surfers. We finally found and enjoyed watching the tortoises basking in the sunshine. We would highly recommend this property and in fact have already done it. We would like to return some time.
This was our first VRBO experience, and it met all of our expectations, and more! The studio apartment was everything we had hoped for. We listened to the ocean waves with our patio door open the entire three weeks of our visit. The vista is fantastic and the miles of beach below us were relatively uncrowded. Linda, Ken and Pat, were the perfect hosts and caretakers, and went out of their way to make our visit comfortable and enjoyable, as well as giving us lots of advice about the area when we had questions. The close and convenient grocery store, gas station, theater, post office, and numerous restaurants all made this a great location. We enjoyed being close to the North Shore, the Polynesian Culture Center, and especially the rural setting on this side of the island. We have already booked our return reservation for 2017!
This was our second visit to Linda and Ken's studio. Everything is here, beautiful views, sandy beach, swimming, snorkeling, miles of beachcombing, shopping a short walk down the road with a well stocked Foodland, restaurants, post office, movie theatre and even a sparkling brand new gas station. McDonald's has reopened down the road if you are heading out for your morning walk and want to pick up coffee on the way back. PCC has opened the new Hukilau Marketplace with shops, quick eats and live music and all open to the public without purchasing an entrance fee. The studio itself is well stocked for cooking in, the bed comfortable, plenty of towels, beach toys, beach chairs and cooler. Pat looked after us this year as Ken and Linda were out of town and she is such a lovely lady with great suggestions on places to go and restaurants to try. Pat even sent us on the plane with a bag of treats to munch on our way home. Thank you Pat! This is not a hotel, this is not a resort, it is a studio apartment for two people who can fend for themselves and are entertained with books, beach time, jungle hikes and ukuleles. You won't be disappointed. P.S. See you next year Garfield!
Stayed here for 6 wonderful and blissful nights and am so sad to leave! Absolutely a perfect stay and didn't want to leave! The grounds are beautiful! Easy access to the beach and all the comforts of home. Including furry friends which my husband and I really enjoyed! We will be returning! Thank you so very much for sharing this piece of heaven with us on a much needed vacation.☺️
I was in Hawaii for a short stay, and wanted to make the best of it. This place allowed me to unwind and relax for a few days and stay away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu. I especially enjoyed sleeping with the windows open and waking up to the sound of the rain and the ocean. The bed here is a fold down Murphy bed, and though I had my doubts when I first saw it, it turned out to be soooo comfortable.... And I especially enjoyed the pillows, I actually wrote Linda an email just to find out where she got the super comfortable pillows from. I was impressed with the kitchen set up here, everything was here... Pots, pans, measuring cups, whisk, knives, you name it and it was there. This made it very easy to go to the grocery store that was right around the corner, and not have to settle for certain meals due to limited cookware. I also greatly enjoyed the surroundings... The view was amazing and I often found myself daydreaming looking out at the beautiful beach and ocean. The private access to the beach was great and I took advantage quite a few times during my stay. I would also like to mention the cats that reside on the property. There are several of them here, and they all had interesting personalities. They were all well behaved and did not try to break in to the guest house.. Hahaha. They were my visitors, usually when I was cooking, and were well mannered. I think they were just assisting me with any "leftovers". That might be a problem... Hahaha. There are a few other things that I wanted to make mention of... There was a book shelf and an end table that had many books available for reading. One book in particular that I enjoyed was a coffee table book about the aerial photography of Hawaii. There were also guest books on another shelf, and I found that they contained a wealth of information regarding local restaurants and places that people visited and enjoyed. These were small additions to my vacation but I think worth mentioning to others. I would love to come back and stay again when I have more time to relax and enjoy. Thank you so much for the hospitality!!
