About Craig Corser
I live in Alberta, Canada. I am involved in secondary wood manufacturing, elk farming and organic food production. My wife Kelly and I, have been married for 32 years. We have three adult children and three grandchildren. We all love Tortola and Cane Garden Bay.
Craig Corser purchased this Cottage in 1979
Why Craig Corser chose Tortola
This property was originally purchased and developed by an uncle and eleven other 'cockeyed optimists' from Alberta, Canada, in 1979. My father bought out eight of these twelve in 1990 and upgraded the property. I got involved soon after and have been managing the property for about 20 years. We have continuously improved the property, including a full renovation in 2013.
What makes this Cottage unique
We are located at the quiet end of Cane Garden Bay, literally steps from the beach and a short level walk to everything you need. Our property is 1.75 acres and is unique in that we have a large, lush private yard, shaded by coconut palms and almond trees. There are hammocks to relax in and high speed wireless for your convenience. There is a tiny, family run bar and general store right next door. Rental cars are available locally. We did a full renovation of the property in October of 2013. We added a 14' x 18' gazebo to the yard. The gazebo houses a charcoal grill and tables. With four rental units (see VRBO Listing #'s 914871, 914873 and 914875 for details on the other three units) and a large private yard, we are a great place for family vacations, weddings and business meetings.

Best Location on Tortola!
We loved our stay in the cozy cottage. When we booked we didn't realize that Cane Garden Bay is the best area on Tortola if you want to be able to walk to the very nice beach (literally only 50 steps away) ...and the bars and restaurants, grocery store. It was so relaxing and the property is very nice. Loved the big porch to hang out on... the bed was super comfy, and the A/C in the bedroom was wonderful! The property managers were exceptional as well... replacing a broken beach chair within a day or two and they checked in with us more than once. They also left thoughtful things like milk for coffee, a couple of bottles of water, and sodas, fresh cut flowers. We highly recommend this place. The only downside is that it's not particularly quiet because of the roosters and the motorcycles that like to go up and down the main street especially on weekend nights. Not too late though and we got used to them (the roosters and the motorcyclers) within a short time.
What a great review Debra! The experience you describe is precisely what we strive for.
You are part of the village when you stay with us at The Cottages.
The road in front is the only road going through the Bay. A couple of speed bumps would eliminate much of the motorcycle noise. The chickens are quintessential Caribbean and help us with insect control!
Good location, nice house
No negatives minus the roosters running around that are very loud at night. I think that’s expected on a tropical islands. House is super cute and well kept.
Glad Jaclyn liked The Cottages. Disappointed she only gave us a 3 star review because she didn't like the roosters that greet the early dawn, crowing back and forth, throughout the village. She is correct that it is quintessentially Caribbean. Our large lush yard has a beautiful lawn and there is usually a rooster, and 2 or 3 hens with chicks, patrolling the grounds, eating insects and bugs. They are wild, keep to themselves, and are a natural form of pest control !
I really enjoy staying at the cottages. I've stayed several times and am glad to see how nice they are after Irma. They are very comfortable and clean. Also very well located. As always, Sam and all were wonderful! Can't wait to return!
Very nice place.
Excellent place well cared for. To many cruise ship people for us.
Cane Garden Bay is one of the best beaches in the Caribbean and has great restaurants and services! That is why it is a popular excursion offered by cruise ships that dock in Road Town a few days a week during the busy winter season. They are rarely seen throughout most of the year. Passengers stay a few of hours and then disappear back to their ship. On cruise ship days our guests can get beach time in early and then check out other quiet beaches and attractions around Tortola. I will ask our managers to let guests know where to view the cruise ship schedule so they can better plan activities.
Craig, Sam, and Patty Ann were all so easy and wonderful to work with on this last minute stay on the island. The place is clean and quaint. Only two things: construction in front of the house and loud roosters in the middle of the night. But honestly, that is to be expected! Myetts is good :) the bartender jem is a sweetheart! We had a wonderful experience on the island! BVI strong. You’re all doing a wonderful job!! Thank you :)
We were happy to be able to accommodate Madison's last minute booking!
Reconstruction of the wall across the road is almost complete and it looks great! Rebuilding form the destruction of Hurricane Irma continues throughout the Territory. Everything is being rebuilt better than it was before.
Chickens roam throughout the Bay and are classic Caribbean. The roosters do crow in the early morning to greet the coming dawn. They keep to themselves, keeping bugs and insects under control in our beautiful yard as they go about their business. Many guests find them charming.
work in progress
It did not live up to expectations. There was no prior mention of the roaming roosters that started going off around 4 am. We had an issue with bugs: mosquito and roaches. House cleaning never came while we were there to change out linens. We understand that the recovery is still progressing from Erma but there was no prior warning of the true condition that the area is in. We do plan to return in the future to see the progress on the island.
I am sorry Kate's experience at The Cottages was not great. Guests' comfort and enjoyment is our greatest concern. We appreciate Kate speaking up about deficiencies she experienced. The housekeeper simply did not show up to do the scheduled mid week cleaning. We are taking steps to ensure the housekeeping schedule is followed, and will provide better guidance for guests to call if it is not. We are proactive with insect control and take care to ensure window screening is in good condition. We are going to provide guests with tips on how to manage insects
common in tropical climates.
