About the Property

3 bed/2 baths, screened porch-open deck, most rooms offer great waterfront views

This home sits on north side of road, high on the bluff overlooking St. George Sound. We have 200 feet of private bayfront on south side with a large grassy area and palm trees. The property has shallow water for about 400-500 feet out. The property sits on three acres and backs up to the National forest. We have a large screened in pool,(can be heated in those cool months), and a great octagon shaped deck for sunbathing when you decide not to beach it. There is also a nice screened in area with great views of The Sound as well. St. George Island and the small towns of Carrabelle, Eastpoint, and Apalachicola are just minutes away and offer good seafood restaurants, grocery stores, small shops, and fresh seafood markets.
There are three bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with twin beds. There is seating at the kitchen bar, separate dining room, and in the screened porch area. Kitchen has stainless two door frig, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and ceramic cooktop. Living area has a large flat screen TV and also flat screen in master bedroom. There is also a sitting area off the master. Both bathrooms have walk-in ceramic tile showers.
If renting in fall, winter, or spring, ask if the pool can be heated and the fee.
If you are a golfer, the St. James Bay Golf Course is only about 20 minutes away. It is a world class golf course and the areas only Audubon Signature Sanctuary.
Wildlife and marinelife are plentiful. We are also one of Florida's great fishing areas. Whether its fresh water, bay and flats fishing, or off-shore, a day on the water is usually a successful day. Guests can catch a variety of species of fish including redfish, speckled trout, flounder, spanish mackeral and so much more right out in front of the house. However, if you would like a guide to take you out, there are numerous great captains in Carrabelle and Apalachicola. There are also boats and sailboats available to rent if you want to have your own journey. We have several docks on the New River in Carrabelle that can also be used for your convenience and pleasure. The New River is very beautiful and quiet and makes a great place to relax and enjoy the wildlife.
Our home is just outside of the town of Eastpoint. The Eastpoint waterfront is filled with small seafood houses. Lots of oyster boats and shrimp boats line the waterfront. The seafood markets offer fresh shrimp, fish (grouper, snapper, flounder, mullet), oysters, scallops, blue crab, and more.
You'll find plenty of restaurants, groceries, seafood markets, antique and souvenir shops,, entertainment, and, ofcourse, plenty of boat captains right there among Carrabelle's many small marinas. If you didn't bring your boat, and don't care to hire a captain, remember you can rent your own boat, kayak, canoe, etc. Plenty of bait and tackle shops available as well. Be sure to stop by Millender's Seafood. Lots of fresh seafood, and Dale makes the best smoked fish dip and crab cakes you have ever tasted. The white sands of Carrabelle Beach are just a mile away. You can walk for miles on the white sand beach, and bring a picnic with you, as they have a wonderful covered area for picnicking. Or, 20 minutes further are the beautiful beaches and state park of St. George Island, or the historical homes and businesses of Apalachicola. It's a bustling little town full of great restaurants, antique and unique shops, and art galleries along the waters edge. Beautiful old homes and lots of history. Remember to visit the Florida Estuary and Research Center in Eastpoint. There you will find all the marine life, shells, and artifacts indigenous to our area. Another trip you shouldn't miss is Wakulla Springs State Park just 30-35 minutes from Carrabelle. This is probably the largest springs in the country. 7 mile of the Wakulla River is closed off to any traffic. Only the boats guided by your park ranger can take you for an hour's unforgettable trip up the beautiful Wakulla. Crystal clear springs with lots of fish, gators, turtles, birds, and most of the time, even manatees Up Close!!!!' It's the old Florida with beautiful fauna you'll never forget. And best of all, the whole family can cruise. It's very affordable (less than $10 for adults) and every seat on the boat is great. Take lots of pictures. Be sure to bring your bathing suit and go for a swim after your trip

One other thing to enjoy are our four lighthouses. Carrabelle, Shell Point, St. George, and the Cape. There are so many things to do in our area. Just hiking or biking our many State and National Forests, Parks, and Estuaries is a wonderful thing to do.

The house sits on four acres on north side of road on the hill offering fantastic views of St. George Sound from almost every room. There is 250 feet bayfront on south side of road. The enclosed pool overlooks the bay and can be heated for an additional charge. You have your own small beach area with shallow water for several hundred feet out offering lots of fun for children swimming and shelling, and good fishing and sunbathing for the adults. In addition the beaches of St. George Island and Carrabelle are just minutes away. And be sure to visit the historic town of Apalachicola with it's great restaurants, quaint little shops, eco tours, and historic homes. You'll also want to make a trip to the Florida Estuary Research Center with tanks of all the marinelife indigenous to our area and a trip up the Wakulla River at Wakulla Springs State Park is just 40 minutes away. The park ranger will take your family for about an hour trip ($8 currently for adults) up this beautiful crystal clear river to see lots of gators, turtles, birds, fish, and beautiful vegetation. (The Old Florida) AND some of the manatees have been staying there year round recently. After your trip, go for a swim in this beautiful spring. (I believe the largest in Florida) If in July or August, bring you snorkel gear for scallop season. You may have luck snorkeling right there.

Year Purchased: 2013

About: This is Jeanne and David, owners. (Aaron is our son and rents our vacation rental homes) David and I have lived in this area many years. Most the time on St. George Island. Now we live on the mainland, just down the road from this property. Aaron also lives here. When St. George Island became too crowded for us, we chose properties like this one for our privacy. We are currently on Magnolia Bluff; however, we truly will enjoy this property during a few weeks this fall and winter. (that's the prettiest time to us. In addition, I love to fish, and some of the best fishing in the area is just out front this property. You'll see charter captains bringing there charters to this area.

Why Eastpoint, FL, USA:
Again, we love this property because of it's beauty. It sits on four beautiful acres and backs up to the National Forests. AND, our waterfront is VERY private. Not only is the fishing good, but you never know what you'll find when you walk out on the sand when the tide goes out. And if you like nature and animals, you might see deer, raccoons, plenty of birds, eagles, osprey, owls, squirrels, dolphins, (ofcourse) and if you're lucky, a black bear or two. (usually in late fall and winter) Florida also has snakes, so if walking the forests, parks, estuaries, or any area really, just watch where you step. We are in their environment.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
You can do it all right here. Fish for trout, reds, whiting, flounder, etc. Net or trap blue crab. Swim in either the fresh water screened pool or St. George Sound. Sunbath next to the waterfront or on your private deck. Keep your kayak/canoe right there on the beach area. Go shelling or hiking through the hiking trails in the National Forest that surrounds you. Also, the sign leading to the dwarf Cyprus forest is less than a mile west of you.
