About the owner: Discover Royston House ....... It's like being in an island of serenity--an idyllic park-like retreat just minutes from downtown Courtenay. It was originally a property attached to the Hilton Manor and used as their orchard so it contains some 90+ year old King Apple trees that produce delicious apple juice. Nancy and Ross Munro are your hosts who live on this 2+ acre estate. They built their home and Vacation Rental, or Bed and Breakfast in 2004 after moving from their organic blueberry farm in the Fraser Valley on the British Columbia mainland. Still growing fruits with organic principles extensive fruit is available both wild and cultivated seasonally on the Royston House property. Nancy makes fresh jellies that are provided to Guests. Ross provides assistance to new organic Blueberry startups on Vancouver Island. Children are welcome at Royston House and will love it here
Why the Owner Chose Courtenay, BC, Canada:
We chose to make the Comox Valley our home after we decided to sell our Blueberry farm in Mission BC. Nancy had travelled all of British Columbia with her Company and the Comox Valley was her choice of a place to live. We were fortunate to find this beautiful nature property that we named Royston House because of its rural hamlet location next to the Oceanside. There are so many things to do and see year round in the Valley that you never run out of exciting opportunities. In fact most of our Guests are disappointed when they realize they have not booked enough time here. Only a couple of minutes from your accommodations to access the new Royston Seaside Trail and Park immediately in front of Royston House with it's great views where Nature abounds. Royston House was custom built by Ross in 2003/2004 with the Carriage House opened as a Vacation Rental in 2008 when our daughter moved to this area. The property has been retained mostly as originally found except for adding our home to an open space. Majesty Douglas Fir are located on the east and west sides. A giant Gary Oak greets visitors entering the property. Native plants grow in abundance and provide an ideal wildlife habitat for deer and birds. As we are on the fly pass from and to Alaska, Birds enjoy the natural food and fauna in the Comox Valley and at Royston House. With year round accommodating weather we operate Royston House 12 months of the year
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Building our Royston House gave us the opportunity to make it a true west coast design home with natural woods, timber frames and natural rock. Indoors you will feel like you are actually outdoors with the large viewing windows and the ability to open to the ocean breezes that occur every day. A perfect Oceanside Retreat to totally melt into Nature and the outdoors yet so close to all the Comox Valley has to offer. Birders, Photographers, Cyclists and Outdoor enthusiasts have come to respect the Comox Valley for the magnificent outdoor habitat it offers. A food Haven on Vancouver Island with support of local farms by leading Vancouver Island Restaurants. Named a cultural capital in Canada local artisans and musicians come from all over the world to call this home. You can discover their talents virtually anytime. The warm climate of Vancouver Island makes this a year round outdoor activity center for any sport you choose.
