Very clean and great location
we are a family of 4 and found this location as the perfect place to stay while visitting Acadia Park. Location on quiet side of island so it was not as crowded or busy. Host provided full cooking tools and grill was nice bonus. we were able to cook our meals and serve them just like home. would recomend to anyone wanting to get away from busy bar harbor and have a quiet spot to escape to after biking and hiking
Great location in Acadia's back door
We had no issues with this little unit, easy and clean arrival. The location is really great, close to grocery store and the town of Southwest Harbor where there are plenty of small restaurants and not as crowded as Bar harbor. Only 20 minutes from the middle of Acadia. I will say don't expect there to be any food spices, oil etc. besides salt and pepper; and if you are picky about your shampoo and conditioner you should bring your own, what's furnished is some body wash and a tiny sized bottle of head and shoulders in each bath.
Very clean and everything you needed was right there. You can catch the island bus close by. Go downtown, bass Harbor, Bar Harbor was a 15 minute drive. Gail was always there to answer my questions. Very helpful. Had a great time. THANK YOU GAIL for making our birthday celebration even better! I appreciated all your help. Joyce
Very clean and convenient
Rooms were comfortable, kitchen was well equipt. Our family of 4 never felt cramped. We were able to do laundry in the house, which was nice because the kids stuff got pretty dirty hiking Acadia.
Great location. We loved walking into town. The Wi-Fi in the house never really worked well. Only occasionally able to access internet. Would still recomend.
The problem with the internet was that the modem was going bad. It has been replaced.
Nice home base for exploring the park. Kitchen and laundry. Comfortable place to relax at the start and end of each day.
We had a wonderful stay at Captain's Den, Unit A. Our schedule only allowed us 3 nights in Southwest Harbor - we wish we could have stayed longer. We liked the slower pace of Southwest Harbor. The unit has a fully supplied kitchen. We had two couples - one member of our group uses a wheel chair most of the time, but was able to get around fine on the first floor - only a few steps from the parking lot to get inside.
One morning we ate at Grumpy's and enjoyed the food, although the service was a bit slow. We also visited one of the markets and grilled hamburgers out and also cooked some fish.
We enjoyed seeing the sites around this part of MDI - especially the light house - but the hill to it is a bit steep.
We'd like to make a return visit to MDI and will plan on staying at Captain's Den. Highly recommend this location.
Gail was a pleasure to deal with.
NOTE: if you put the address in your GPS, be sure the city is Southwest Harbor. We didn't and spent a little while exploring places we hadn't planned to see.
There are many miles of hiking and cycling trails ranked from easy to strenuous. There are some 25+ hiking trails on the west side of the island
