About Moab Property Management

This story is really about the vision and hard work of the 3 owners, Joseph, Lisa and Dave. We all went to the U of U and ran around in the desert of S. Utah in the 70's, 80's, up to the present. We stumbled into Castle Valley sometime back then in the 80's. We all loved hiking, backpacking, river rafting, and just adventuring in S. Utah. Now a days, we just like going for day hikes and sitting out on the flag-stone patio - which we also built.

Moab Property Management purchased this house in 1991

Why Moab Property Management chose Castle Valley

Land in CV was pretty cheap back in the late 80's and early 90's. We were young and filled with enough crazy enthusiasm not only for the desert but for the possibility of actually co-owning, designing and building a special place in the desert. We bought the land in the early 90's and then proceeded to design and build our Red Rock Escape. It took us over 7 years, but we pulled it off. We had the incredible help of Warren Egbert, designer, builder, rock climber, cowboy extraordinaire.

What makes this house unique

It's a bit hard to describe the magic of the Red Rock Oasis. It's not at all High Brow, but it is amazingly comfortable. Beyond comfort, it is dramatic in its vistas, its stillness, and in its quiet peace. The house just has a feeling of ease and grand at the same time.

The house feels like it's inside of a National Park. Arches is 35 mins. The Island in the Sky an hour. The Needles District of Canyonlands a couple hours. Rafting on the Colorado is very close. Mountain Biking if your young enough to do that kind of thing is all within a day trip.

Beautiful setting and space

  • 5 of 5

We spent 6 weeks at Red Rock Casa in Castle Valley in October-November 2017. The house was superbly located at the top of a hill, affording a sense of privacy, solitude and quiet and moreover, spectacular views of the valley and red rock formations. The array of windows facing the valley provided wonderful natural light inside the home in addition to the views. As temperatures cooled in November, the radiant heating in the floor was divine! The house had a feeling of spaciousness with high ceilings in the great room and was well laid out and equipped. Its location enabled easy access to national parks and many other trails in the region. As advertised, there was spotty cell service at the house, and in addition, Internet access was intermittent. The owner, Joseph Losi, was responsive and attentive, available whenever we had questions, and ensured that our stay was a very special one. I highly recommend this property!

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

We didn't want to leave. Our whole visit, out on excursions in the Moab area or enjoying the national parks, we'd come to a point in the day when we'd look at each other and say "let's head home." And by home, we meant this oasis on the hill, Red Rock Casa. It’s a perfect base for exploring Moab and the National Parks, but you might not want to leave the house! We felt relaxed and eager to wind down and read or just stare at the stars.

The ever-changing views of Castle Valley and Castle Rock are almost startling. Powerful and magnificent. You'll take too many pictures of the same view, but it's new with every shift of the light. It's quiet and calming, and you'll enjoy the birdsong and sounds of rustling critters.

The layout of the house is open and the breeze moved easily even on the hottest days. (We only ran the swamp cooler a couple times and yet temps were in the 100s.) The kitchen is perfectly arranged and organized and we love to cook, so we barely ate out at all. For folks who drink coffee, there's a coffee press and an automatic drip machine. The water from the tap is drinkable and great for cooking/cleaning (Conserve!) but if you like a bottled source, buy the 2-1/2 gallon containers from City Market in Moab and drink it cold from the frig. The gas stove is a workhorse and a pleasure to cook on, and the gas grill outside gave us lots of options for dining at home. Kitchen is stocked. Great knives and a sharpener, to boot! If I'm being picky, a new can-opener would be nice and some OXO tongs.

Some ideas: Check out Lotus Massage. Lisa came out to Castle Valley and we both got massages right here. Nice birthday present!

Check out the handy Falcon Guide for day hikes on the coffee table. So many hiking trails, but don’t miss:

#1 Fiery Furnace at Arches. Reserve a Ranger-guided hike.

#2 Fisher Towers (just up the road off of 128)

#3 Granstaff Canyon -- formerly Negro Bill Canyon -- a beauty of a hike.

#4 Delicate Arch. Packed with tourist/hikers but worth it, nonetheless. Park hours were limited (7-7) while we were there (construction!) so no sunset/sunrise hikes in Arches until November at least. Oh, and brave the La Sal Loop mountain road if you can (more construction). It’s a beautiful and cooling scenic drive. Watch out for the cows in the road!

The drive to Moab is stunning. Grab a burger and shake at Milts and you can't go wrong at Quesadilla Mobilla…just steps away from Back of Beyond Books!

Hope to return. Thanks Joseph!!

Owner's Response: "We did not want to leave!" While Stephen went on to give a significant amount of praise and very useful information about the Red Rock Casa, he could have stopped there. Our home in Castle Valley just wraps itself around our guests and does not want them to leave. The only way to truly know that feeling is to experience it. The RR Casa, and it's environs are magical. You'll feel it! Joseph, Lisa & Dave, aka, "the owners."

fantastically beautiful

  • 5 of 5

The property is in tip top shape with everything you could ever need in the kitchen. The view out the front window is breathtaking and it is quiet, quiet, quiet. We hiked at Arches, Canyonlands, and Fisher Towers--all within easy reach. This is a fantastically peaceful way to vacation and I'll be back

Spectatular Views and Easy Living

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I were constantly reminded of the wonderful views from the house throughout each and every day. The setting would work very well with those who want to relax and just chill for the day, but for us it worked as a great hub for adventurous outings. A day didn't go by, when we didn't hike, bike, or take a scenic ride. Close to Castle Valley is a plethora of hiking, biking, and even horse trails. The ride into Moab is flat-out majestic and we were always looking for an excuse to head out. The house really offers everything a person could want. It's a perfect getaway!

Oasis indeed

  • 5 of 5

This house truly is an oasis. You could sit in the living room or on the patio all day and the view of Castleton Tower would never get old. But this place is also just a 30 minute drive to the delightful town of Moab and to the entrance of Arches NP and so much more. The house is spacious enough to be social in the great room or to relax in one of four nicely appointed bedrooms. It's easy to feel right at home here and not want to ever leave.!

Peaceful and Lovely

  • 5 of 5

This house has incredible panoramic views of all the formations in Castle Valley - an ever-changing show of light and clouds, stars and wildlife. It's 35 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Moab and well worth the drive.

The floor plan of the house is great for spending time with friends and family and the kitchen is well-equipped. Everyone I have shared the house with has loved it.

There are many beautiful hiking opportunities in the area, including Fisher Towers.

The property manager and owners are responsive whenever a problem arises.
