LITTLE BEACH HOUSE - CLOSE TO OCEAN AS POSSIBLE WITH MILES OF INCREDIBLE VIEW

A Little Beach House is a newly built artistic retreat for a single adult visitor or a couple. Located on beautiful Gordons Beach (Orveas Bay), facing southwest overlooking the Salish Sea and the Olympic Penninsula of Washington,USA. A panoramic ocean vista with rare walk-on beachfront and amazing sunsets.

Three steps and you're on the beach. Walk for miles, beachcombing and discovering this natural wonderland. Eagles, gulls and ravens soar high above. Seals, otters, Orca (Killer) whales swim at your doorstep. The ocean a known 'hot spot' for first class fishing of salmon, halibut and cod. Wander and examine the smooth beach stones while on the look-out for the unusual flower rock. I dare you to go home without a few of these tucked in your suitcase. The driftwood piled high on the shores hint at the winter storms. Many visitors marvel and enjoy storm watching in season. On sunny days the waves sparkle. The sunset reflecting on the water can be breathtaking. Eventide in this west coast paradise suggests a romantic stroll, star gazing or building a small campfire (when permitted) to enhance the beach experience. On days of 'liquid sunshine' viewing the ocean and sky is not a problem from the covered gazebo or the warmth of the cottage. Nearby parks and hikes abound, both easy -going or wild and wooly. The capital and scenic city Victoria only 45 min. away as well as the International Airport. Eateries in the village of Sooke are both budget friendly and award winners of fine cuisine. You've travelled here to experience the best of the Pacific west coast and its delivered in spades when staying at our little beach house. All in all, an ideal place to discover and enjoy.

This newly built adult oriented cottage is bright, attractive, cosy and cheerful. You have sweeping ocean views. The open kitchen-living room has three sides of window showcasing the outdoor natural beauty. The fresh, clean and inviting decor suggests you relax and refresh from past day to day challenges. Wi-Fi availability keeps you in touch also telephone,CD,TV, if desired. A well supplied kitchenette opens to an inviting courtyard. This sunny wind-sheltered area is the ideal spot to read, write, or simply doze and dream. The small but perfect four piece bathroom includes a soaker tub. A seperate cozy bedroom with queen-size bed awaits. There you recline with a picture framed garden and water view. Be lulled to sleep with gentle surf sounds. From the living room french doors lead to a large sheltered gazebo. You'll barbeque your favorites while sipping a glass of wine enjoying the peaceful ambiance. Can life get any better? A surprise awaits around the corner...a private outdoor shower! What a refreshing and exhilarating experience. Having both hot and cold water you'll want to start every day this way. A Little Beach House inspires your creativity and spirituality. Time to wonder, discover, contemplate and meditate.

'Lucy' resident Shitzu, will meet and greet you (tail wagging).

About June Bartel

In l992 I was on my first vacation to Sooke, saw and walked Gordons Beach and fell in love totally. I knew immediately this was the place for me. It felt so right. Two years later on another visit I found this place, bought it immediately and then went back home to Vancouver to sell, pack, and move. I have never looked back. All my friends describe this spot as 'healing, calming, rejuvenating'. Now retired and still enjoying life and people its time to share this bit of paradise. No matter what season, this is the place.

June Bartel purchased this cottage in 2011

Why June Bartel chose British Columbia

I bought my home to relax and retire. This year the seperate cottage was built to allow others the pleasure of a very special place. If you desire activity and adventure its all In the close area. If you desire solitude and peacefulness, thats a given.

Come and enjoy and discover..

What makes this cottage unique

Wow! to the private outdoor shower. It feels so-o-o naughty but nice. The ocean, the sky, the clouds, the waves, the surf, the rainbows, the colors, the marine wildlife, the marine traffic, the fresh fresh air-----and the peace.

Perfect honeymoon getaway

  • 5 of 5

We went to the little beach house for our honeymoon and it was a perfect romantic getaway. We had lots of privacy. It is amazing being right on the beach. We spent tons of time on the little covered patio listening to and watching the waves and just relaxing. We also saw an otter in the water and had a view of a lighthouse on the point. We enjoyed using the little electric fireplace at night to make things cozy. We did lots of cooking there in the little kitchenette. It was nice having a full size refrigerator/freezer to use. One of the days it was warm enough to use the outdoor shower which was really nice, like being at a spa. The town is not far away so it was easy to get supplies and go out to eat when we wanted to. We made so many great memories there and feel grateful we got to stay in such a wonderful location.

Great Mom & Dad Getaway

  • 4 of 5

Our stay was carefree, unscheduled, and laid back - exactly what we both needed. June was very pleasant, greeting us upon arrival and showing us around the beach house. She then let us have the place to ourselves, but it was nice to know she was just next door if we needed something. The house was well appointed for the two us with just enough space and amenities for our 4 night stay. We were blessed with beautiful weather and used the sheltered gazebo every day for our morning coffee and our late afternoon glass of wine. The only complaint would be limited space in the bedroom, but the comfort of the bed and softness of the sheets certainly made up for it :).

Beautiful Retreat

  • 5 of 5

This place is an absolute gem. It is not a far distance from Sooke (maybe 10 minutes north). We were close to hiking (Sooke Potholes and East Sooke Rain Forest), whale watching, and great restaurants in Sooke and further North/West along the highway. There is a great view of the ocean from the bedroom and living room. June has two great outdoor spaces, again with fabulous ocean views. If you don't have cell service in Canada, June has a landline for local calls.

50th Anniversary trip

  • 5 of 5

This was such a beautiful place! June was so friendly and and helpful the cottage is just ideal. It really was the perfect place to relax and to do daytrips to Botanical Beach, and plenty of beach areas, although the beach just steps from the cottage was the best and so quiet and inviting. I had plenty of time for watercolor sketches and my husband took many beautiful photos. Next time we are on the Island we'll spend more than 3 nights. Perfect place to celebrate our 50th wedding Anniversary trip. Lucy was friendly, but content to glance in, if invited in she would come look around, then go on her way. We discovered Shirley Delicious Cafe our last day should have gone sooner. The Saltwest sea salt tour was interesting and yielded some great little gifts to bring home . Thank you Jean and Lucy!

Beautiful Sea Side Cottage

  • 5 of 5

June was very quick to respond to e-mails when we inquired about dates and information on her "Little Beach House". The description and pictures were very accurate. We loved being right on the water and the glass windbreaks over the patio were great for those windy cool days. We did see seals from the cottage, lots of fishing boats and a cruise ship. Although the weather did not cooperate we still managed to get in lots of hiking. We went to the Sooke Potholes, numerous close beaches including, China, French and Botanical Beach (go when there is low tide and preferable when it's sunny). Also, Witty's Lagoon, East Sooke hiking trails, and the Wiffin Spit where we saw otters and seals. We enjoyed the outdoor shower when it wasn't raining. The little fireplace (heater) took the chill off. Again, a nicely decorated cottage right on the ocean. And PS "Lucy" was adorable.
