About Wendy or Gary Polonski
Gary and Wendy Polonski raised their two daughters on the South Shore near Boston and spent 16 years driving up for weekly ski and hiking vacations at Sunday River Resort. Once the girls were off to college, they sold their home in Hingham, MA and made the permanent move to their present home in Newry, Maine. Gary is a trained painter and sculptor and built their sister property, The Artist's Studio, for him to work and display his art. Along the way, they discovered a passion for sharing their slice of heaven with guests through Homeaway.
Wendy or Gary Polonski purchased this House in 2013
Why Wendy or Gary Polonski chose Newry
With the wild success of entertaining guests at The Artist's Studio at Powder Ridge, Gary and Wendy decided to purchase the property just below their main home and build a new smaller log-sided house to expand their experience. This property boasts the same amazing views and is being rented with their same philosophy of a higher-end rental for an incredibly reasonable price. All while being able to bring the family pet(s).
What makes this House unique
The 'Cabin' is decorated with many of the same fine details as The Artist's Studio, especially original paintings by Gary Polonski. Much of the furniture has been created and built by Gary and Wendy, being made from trees taken directly off the property. Each piece is one-of-a-kind and uniquely created for each bedroom, loft, living room and dining area. Partnered with beautiful quilts and materials, and Gary's one-of-a-kind original paintings, you will find the decor a treat to your senses.

Little slice of heaven!
We absolutely loved our stay at this special property! We travelled to the area from Canada to meet up with our 22-year old son - an Appalachian Trail thru-hiker - who is on track to finish the 2200 miles of the AT in a few weeks. The Artist's Cabin at Powder Ridge was the idyllic spot to be embraced by nature as we shared great conversation, meals and local attractions as a family. Spotless, well cared for, uniquely decorated, spacious, all the amenities of home, and with a view of nature that was second to none! We can't wait to return!
Awesome cabin! Immaculate, tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you could need.
Thank you Gary and Wendy!
You are so very welcome! It was a pleasure to be your hosts and look forward to your next visit!
Relaxation the minute you walk in the door!
This was quite honestly our best experience with VRBO. We just spent 5 days at this property and it was perfect for our family. My husband and I took the main floor bedroom, my daughter the downstairs and my son the upstairs loft. Plenty of privacy and space for all. Kitchen is well equipped with anything you need. The deck grill is also a beautiful spot to cook from, and you don’t need to worry about running out of propane as they smartly hooked up it up to the large house tanks. We have never stayed at a rental that provided so many amenities. Laundry supplies, dishwashing, and shower staples along with coffee and plenty of spices and oil to cook with are really appreciated. The owners provide a thoughtful note/of appreciation and a yummy baked good treat to welcome you. The cabin is in a great location to see and do so much in the area. This was supposedly the “off season”, but we found it to be the perfect time of year for our needs. We did plenty of hiking in Grafton Notch State Park, saw. many beautiful waterfalls that changed daily with the snow melt and rain. We were even able to do a day kayak trip. The more adventurous in our group even traveled to New Hampshire to hike Mount Washington (1&1/2 hours away) and snowboard back down! Celebratory brews at the Sunday River Brewery were fun too. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome cabin! There’s truly no downside to staying at this property or in this area- except for the fact that you really don’t want to leave!
What a review! We are just so delighted that you and your family enjoyed your stay and partook of the many outdoor adventures to be had in this gorgeous area!
Again, congrats to your kids completing Masters Degrees!

Gorgeous cabin with stunning views
My husband, young son and I had a terrific time at the Artist’s cabin! It is beautiful inside with all the amenities and stunning mountain views. Quick access to Sunday River for skiing and downtown Bethel. The owners even welcomed us with homemade cookies! We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
Just what we love to hear! Thank you for being such terrific and thoughtful guests and we look forward to welcoming you back anytime!
Will definitely be back!
