Summer cabin retreat!
Overall, we had a great stay! The cabin is very well equipped and exactly as described. We had a moose come to the cabin one day and saw many deer also!
My only negatives are regarding the altitude (10,600’) and the road coming into the cabin. Our child got altitude sickness the first day and was placed on oxygen after a visit to the ER. The road leading to the cabin isn’t paved and is very rough. Our car was filthy after a week to say the least. These two minor issues probably won’t bother most folks but I wanted to point them out.
Geographically speaking, , we were in a great spot to drive to various other cities and attractions. My son loved the pinball machine and pool table! I enjoyed the steam shower most of all! Thanks to property owner for making this available, I would certainly recommend it!
Beautiful, remote location
This cabin was far enough away from town to have a lot of privacy, but still close enough for shopping and activities. Lots of games and activities in the cabin for us to do as a family. Colorado is just breathtaking.
Fabulous vacation at The Claim!
This cabin was perfect for our family vacation! We traveled with our 2 married adult children, our 13 year old son and one of his buddies. The layout of the cabin couldn’t have been better. We all had privacy and the boys all enjoyed the game room. All the amenities were perfect! The only negative was the water issue which we were well aware of from the posting. And truthfully we were glad to know in advance and would definitely stay again despite this issue. We had moose sitings almost every day and really enjoyed that too. Awesome family vacation in a beautiful location centrally located to many different activities.
Thank you Toni. I appreciate the feedback. The instantaneous water has it's negatives and positives. The good part is that you don't run out of hot water but using several showers or other water sources can affect the water pressure. If you space out showers and washing dishes, it is normally not a problem at all. We did have the plumber check it out and make some adjustments. I hope next time, your stay will be absolutely perfect. Our goal is for every renter's stay to be a perfect and memorable experience. Thank you again.
It was a beautiful cabin! So many amenities! The wrap around deck was especially wonderful!
We had a delightful stay at the Claim! We picked a great weekend with lots of sunshine and beautiful blue skies. The wrap around deck was amazing. The cabin accommodated all of our needs. We spent time in the game room enjoying air hockey and the pin ball machine. So many rentals don’t provide that kind of entertainment. We cooked almost all of our meals at the cabin. It’s a well stocked kitchen. Everything has been thought out so well! We enjoyed our stay very much!
I would love to say we ordered the weather, but am happy it worked out. Please come again, in the summer or fall and see the Central Mountains at its best. Thank you for taking such good care of our home !
We were so impressed with this place from the cleanliness to the heated floors, comfortable beds, hot tub, well-equipped kitchen, etc. Any questions I had were immediately addressed as well. It is a beautiful home with all the amenities. Our grandchildren especially enjoyed the game room and even had an Easter Egg Hunt in the snow!
Thank you for your kind words and please come again!!
Beautiful cabin minus several important details.
This is a beautiful cabin with a great location. The view is therapeutic and not as high in elevation as others further up Valley of the Sun. The snow can get pretty bad up there and if you're not accustom to altitude you'll feel more comfortable here.
Our family really enjoyed the air hockey and the pinball machine. There are toys, bowls and beds for dogs. The dog beds are important since the cabin is heated by floor radiant heat. The deck is perfect to relax or let dogs stay outside in an enclosed area.
There are a few details the owners and management company need to address. First, BRING YOUR OWN PILLOWS!! The pillows there are terrible with no exaggeration. The guest book has several comments about the pillows. It’s not a few pillows, it’s all pillows. One of the queen beds needs a new mattress. Unless you like sleeping in the middle. Next, the owner needs to invest in a new couch. The one they have is not comfortable. The back cushions are broken down. One of the requests is to vacuum rugs, sweep floors and clean fireplace. I think that's a reasonable request, however, the vacuum doesn't work and we finally noticed a mop in the garage when we left. Also, don't forget extra paper towels, trash bags, etc. since only one are provided. Similarly with toiletries, because non are provided unless you like logo soap.
The last thing is it sort of felt like we were staying in someone’s home. Don't get me wrong, this is probably one of the nicest cabins we've stayed in and we've enjoyed quite a few in Alma. However, the owners are pretty Texas proud and a little over the top with "The Claim" logo's on towels and soap to chapstick and pinball bumpers. Personally, I'd prefer new pillows and vacuum over a logo. An investment in fine details would go a long ways.
Several tweaks and investments; I wouldn’t think twice about staying there again or giving a five star review.
We are glad you enjoyed the central mountains. We are planning on a new vacuum and will tell the homeowner about the pillows. Glad that you and your pets had a nice time in Texas mountain home.
ctivities include World-Class skiing in Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin, Copper Mountain, and Monarch. Snowshoeing and hiking in nearby Jefferson Lake Park, Lost Creek Wilderness, Boreas Pass, and Guanella Pass. Fishing is fantastic at Jefferson Lake, Tarrayall Reservoir, and Lake Gorge.
