About Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners
We live near San Diego, California, but we love this area and will never tire of exploring it. And there is no end to the wonders available to explore! This photo of the owners was taken as we hiked in one of hundreds of slot canyons in Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument, east of Bryce Canyon.

Why Jan or Jim McDaniel, owners chose Duck Creek Village
We have visited and enjoyed many of our nation's parks and wilderness areas. We think Southern Utah is one of the most spectacular areas in the country, with an array of what are some of the most beautiful and accessible national parks and monuments. We have been coming to the area for several years, drawn by the beauty and wide variety of outdoor activities. Five years ago, we finally decided we needed to own a little piece of this incredible place. That was such a good purchase that in 2013 we bought this cabin, our second cabin in Duck Creek, with an eye to living here some day. With breathtaking natural wonders any way you drive, all within close proximity, you can't beat this location. Red Pines Lodge is in a great location, near the Village, and with easy access. It's a beautifully built cabin, has the amenities that make it comfortable, yet it has that rustic, warm feeling we enjoy in a cabin - and think others will too. We love both our cabins - both are welcoming, wonderful places. If you love nature and experiencing the outdoors, as we do, you will be amazed at this part of southern Utah. If you love the feeling of being in a beautiful cabin in the forest, then you will love Red Pines Lodge.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the majesty and beauty of Southern Utah so much that we purchased Red Pines Lodge, our second cabin property in Duck Creek. We also own Cedar Hollow log cabin (also listed on Homeaway/VRBO), in the Strawberry Valley area. It has a special place in our hearts. Most of all, we love sharing this special area with others! We enjoy extending hospitality, sharing our vacation cabins, sharing our knowledge of the area and it's attractions, and making all who stay at our cabins feel welcome and at home. That's our philosophy: to ensure that our guests are comfortable, and welcome, and have a memorable experience. Our brand of hospitality is what makes a stay in either of our cabins unique.

Wonderful house for a group or family
Our party of six, four adults and two children (a toddler and a 5 year-old) had a wonderful time visiting Bryce and Zion National Parks from this perfectly situated house in Duck Creek. This house has plenty of privacy, surrounded by woods, and set back from the road and other houses; we enjoyed the quiet! Many safety features give the overall impression of very responsible owners (i.e. the heated outdoor stairs in case of ice or snow on the steps. Very thoughtful!) The large, comfortable sitting area, the big table for dinners and board games, the kitchen for easy use by several people helping to prepare dinner -- all these elements made for a pleasurable vacation for our family. While we brought most of our food, the pantry was well-stocked with lots of spices and condiments. Plenty of towels and blankets -- it was obvious that the owners wanted to ensure that the renters enjoy their stay. There were plenty of chairs and tables on the outside porches where it's nice to sit, read, and hang out. We loved having the woodstove in the cool evening in May, since we are used to using a woodstove at home. Having a Pack-N-Play for our toddler was important and could fit in the middle level bedroom. Our 5 year old slept there too on a comfy mattress provided. The ground floor bedroom with two single beds (and bath!) would be perfect for single adults or children old enough to sleep on a floor different from their parents. All in all a perfect home away for a group, and certainly was for our family.
Great Cabin / Attentive Hosts
We really enjoyed staying at this great cabin in Duck Creek Village, Utah.
The cabin was wonderful with too many amenities to list. Lots of rustic comforts with plenty of space.
Jan was also an outstanding host. She immediately responded to our reservation request and provided several detailed emails covering everything about the cabin, the area, travel routes, and conveniences nearby. She even provided links to weather and road conditions, so we knew what to expect prior to getting there. Fortunately, she brought to my attention the temporary road closure through Zion NP, which affected our planned route to the cabin.
While a surprise snow storm in mid-April was not part of our plan for the spring holiday, everyone loved the cabin and the kids really enjoyed playing in the snow!
Thank you. Hope to visit again some time.
Amazing, quiet, nicely decorated place
Stayed here for a long weekend getaway. Desired to see snow and we saw it...very very much of it. The owners were great to work with. Responsive and tentative. We love Duck Creek and the cabin was in a desirable area, close to the village and clear roadways...even in snow. I would recommend this cabin, for sure.

The cabin was very clean
We spent every night by the fire pit it was amazing
Thankfully we took our own s’mores sticks.
The snow was amazing and it snowed all day Christmas Day so we stayed in and sat together by the beautiful wood fire.
The village wasn’t far and is so quaint
Jan was available for any questions
It was a great trip and we would stay again.
Only downside was the WiFi struggled with us all but thankfully at&t service was strong.
