Why Chris Fernald chose Acton

Working together my grandfather and my father built this summer camp for the family to enjoy. Years later it was renovated to be a year round property.

What makes this cottage unique

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Great East Lake is an 1,825-acre (7.4 km2)[3] water body located in Carroll County, New Hampshire, and York County, Maine, in the United States. The lake is shared by the towns of Wakefield, New Hampshire, and Acton, Maine, with 45% of its surface area in Acton and 55% in Wakefield.[2] The lake is the farthest upstream of the five headwater lakes of the Salmon Falls River, a tributary of the Piscataqua River. Water from Great East Lake flows out its dam and through the 800-foot (240 m) Newichawannock Canal into Horn Pond, then into the Salmon Falls River below Horn Pond.

The widest part of the lake is in New Hampshire. The lake narrows to the east in Maine, creating the First, Second and Third basins. Great East Lake is the largest of the Salmon Falls headwater lakes.

Great East Lake supports abundant wildlife, and 21 fish species including lake trout (togue), rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, American eel, hornpout, white perch, black crappie and chain pickerel.[3]

Beautiful- relaxing time with family!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this cottage from 8/6-8/13. First thing to say is SUPER CLEAN. That is BOTH the cottage AND Great East Lake! Cottage was well appointed, and all furniture and kitchen items were well taken care of, and showed that the owner cared about their tenants comfort. The yard was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the fire pit every night. We were surprised how quite that end of the lake was, which added to our positive review. The cottage looks small from the road, but we found it was just enough space for everyone to be comfortable. We work ALOT, and were looking for the perfect - DO NOTHING vacation. This property allowed us to relax. We brought kayaks, fishing poles and a canoe, and enjoyed every minute. There is nothing negative about this place. We loved it!

Beautiful and relaxing

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at Chris' family cottage. Their was plenty of room for the 6 of us and the décor is beautiful. The location on the lake was peaceful and relaxing; and the water area was clean for swimming. I'd highly recommend staying here for anyone looking for a stress free vacation.
