About Kris Rogers
We are semi-retired professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kris was a Radiologic Technologist and Don was an Engineering Project Manager. We were attracted to the beauty and tranquility of the area.
Kris Rogers purchased this House in 2010
Why Kris Rogers chose Mariposa
Our honeymoon was in Yosemite and we have shared a love of this area. We loved the open concept, exposed wood beam ceiling in the living room, the slate floors, and granite counter tops. We saw the potential in this property from the immediate yard area to the more remote areas that are picturesque and great for future development.
What makes this House unique
We love looking at our mountain view, the beautiful sunsets, and the visiting wildlife. While drinking coffee on our covered patio we enjoy watching the hummingbirds. Evenings are enjoyed with a glass of wine while relaxing on the swing bed under the covered pergola. Other activities include working on the property, hiking, riding bicycles, ATVs, and motorcycles.

large beautiful property with lots of amenities
Lovely home with lots of space for relaxing- both indoor and out. We were a family group of 7 that all enjoyed our stay at Howling Wolf Lodge. Well equipped kitchen, and everything you need for a great stay. Lots of fun with golf, badminton and bocce. It took us one hour drive to Yosemite Valley. Only minor complaint was some of the pillows were very flat, otherwise the linens were top shelf.
We had a great vacation, great weather, the house was wonderful and everyone loved it. My kids did not want to leave at all. Thanks you :-)
Wonderful sprawling rancher, especially great keeping the kids happy and occupied inside & out!
I can't say enough about this beautiful home--both inside and out. 7 family members from different states met here for 6 days in March. The weather was fairly awful, but there are so many unique things to do inside--foosball, darts, air hockey, our 3 teens always had things to keep them busy indoors. They didn't try the electronic games, but the internet was decent. It was great to have the game room for them to congregate in while the adults were very comfortable in the huge kitchen/dining/family room. The outside area is terrific and we had a couple of days where we were able to play bocce, golf and just enjoy the gorgeous patio area while the kids played badminton, volleyball and chased after frogs. We were able to squeeze in a trip to Yosemite before the weather got too miserable and spent some time with family in the area, but Howling Wolf Ranch itself was a very special place--you could easily spend days here with family and friends even without all the area's splendor and still have a great time. Kris was very prompt and cordial with replies to my questions, very nice to deal with, and returned our deposit in a timely manner. If you are planning a trip to this area, I hope you are lucky enough to book this lovely home. Be aware cell phone reception was splotchy for our ATT and Tmobile users (there were a few spots around the property that worked better than others, esp for texts), but Verizon worked fine. I'm sure the bad weather contributed to the problem.
Amazing place for relaxation and having fun!
We had an amazing experience while staying at the howling wolf lodge .. it was way above our expectations. The place is very clean, very well maintained, very luxurious and cosy. We got the feeling that we want to stay there forever :) Not only we enjoyed the relaxation of staying in such a quiet place with beautiful nature around it .. but our kids had lots and lots of fun with all the amenities and activities provided in the house.
I’d definitely love to repeat my experience there!
Thanks Kris for everything!
What a wonderful place to stay with the family for Christmas!
We spent a full week at the Howling Wolf Lodge during Christmas and enjoyed every part of it. The house is fantastic, all the small details makes it so nice and enjoyable.
Plenty space for everyone and the entertainment both inside the Lodge and outside in the garden was a big hit. Both kids and adults enjoyed playing badminton, boccia and golf during the day and we had a good competition going! Inside we enjoyed the sound system, the Air Hocky, the television and the wood stove was great for chill out evenings.
This house has everything you need and then a bit more.
The location is great, kind of in the middle of nowhere with no other houses in sight but still so close to lovely Mariposa and Oakhurst. We drove to Yosemite, roughly 60 minute drive, and enjoyed the fantastic view of El Capitan and hiked the Mist Trail, the signature hike in Yosemite. Another day we drove to Nelder Grove and took a nice hike to see the Giant Sequoias. The big trees are up to 2700 years old and the size is almost unrealistic!
A great place to stay and we would love to come here again sometime in the future!
Thank you Kris and Don for opening up your house for us.
The Howling Wolf Lodge is better than even the amazing pictures and video!
We visited Oakhurst area to meet our son's girlfriends family and we so enjoyed staying at the Howling Wolf Lodge! Privacy, great views, off road parking was just the beginning of our amazing experience at the lodge. Perfect set-up with bedrooms and baths in 2 different ends of the home and the game room, open kitchen and living room concept were fantastic! The home was clean and ready for us and the extra supplies and kitchen items were so helpful! Laundry available in the home was handy for those that had been traveling. The complimentary coffee and champaign were an extra special touch! All the outdoor activities in the back yard and areas to relax and get to know each other were perfect! We had a stress free Thanksgiving celebration due to the great Howling Wolf Lodge! Proprietors, Kris and Don Rogers who obviously have a passion to share their home were available via email to answer any questions and their activity book provides additional information! Enjoyed hiking in Yosemite and shopping in Mariposa and visiting family in Oakhurst. Thank you so much Kris and Don, we look forward to our next visit! Dean and Annette from Michigan
We are located between the Hwy 140 and Hwy 41 Yosemite park entrances. The scenic drive through historic Mariposa to the Hwy 140 entrance is 42 miles. Once inside the gate it is another 10 minutes to the valley floor. The drive to the Hwy 41 Yosemite south gate takes 30 minutes. Our favorite hikes are The Mist Trail, Sentinel Dome, and Glacier Point trail down to the Valley Floor.
