About Kris Rogers

We are semi-retired professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kris was a Radiologic Technologist and Don was an Engineering Project Manager. We were attracted to the beauty and tranquility of the area.

Kris Rogers purchased this house in 2010

Why Kris Rogers chose Mariposa

Our honeymoon was in Yosemite and we have shared a love of this area. We loved the open concept, exposed wood beam ceiling in the living room, the slate floors, and granite counter tops. We saw the potential in this property from the immediate yard area to the more remote areas that are picturesque and great for future development.

What makes this house unique

We love looking at our mountain view, the beautiful sunsets, and the visiting wildlife. While drinking coffee on our covered patio we enjoy watching the hummingbirds. Evenings are enjoyed with a glass of wine while relaxing on the swing bed under the covered pergola. Other activities include working on the property, hiking, riding bicycles, ATVs, and motorcycles.

What a wonderful place to stay with the family for Christmas!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a full week at the Howling Wolf Lodge during Christmas and enjoyed every part of it. The house is fantastic, all the small details makes it so nice and enjoyable.

Plenty space for everyone and the entertainment both inside the Lodge and outside in the garden was a big hit. Both kids and adults enjoyed playing badminton, boccia and golf during the day and we had a good competition going! Inside we enjoyed the sound system, the Air Hocky, the television and the wood stove was great for chill out evenings.

This house has everything you need and then a bit more.

The location is great, kind of in the middle of nowhere with no other houses in sight but still so close to lovely Mariposa and Oakhurst. We drove to Yosemite, roughly 60 minute drive, and enjoyed the fantastic view of El Capitan and hiked the Mist Trail, the signature hike in Yosemite. Another day we drove to Nelder Grove and took a nice hike to see the Giant Sequoias. The big trees are up to 2700 years old and the size is almost unrealistic!

A great place to stay and we would love to come here again sometime in the future!

Thank you Kris and Don for opening up your house for us.

The Howling Wolf Lodge is better than even the amazing pictures and video!

  • 5 of 5

We visited Oakhurst area to meet our son's girlfriends family and we so enjoyed staying at the Howling Wolf Lodge! Privacy, great views, off road parking was just the beginning of our amazing experience at the lodge. Perfect set-up with bedrooms and baths in 2 different ends of the home and the game room, open kitchen and living room concept were fantastic! The home was clean and ready for us and the extra supplies and kitchen items were so helpful! Laundry available in the home was handy for those that had been traveling. The complimentary coffee and champaign were an extra special touch! All the outdoor activities in the back yard and areas to relax and get to know each other were perfect! We had a stress free Thanksgiving celebration due to the great Howling Wolf Lodge! Proprietors, Kris and Don Rogers who obviously have a passion to share their home were available via email to answer any questions and their activity book provides additional information! Enjoyed hiking in Yosemite and shopping in Mariposa and visiting family in Oakhurst. Thank you so much Kris and Don, we look forward to our next visit! Dean and Annette from Michigan

Howling Wolf Lodge is more spectacular than photos reveal!

  • 5 of 5

Howling Wolf was even nicer than the photos showed. The lodge was well planned and great layout. The kitchen was a focus point and everyone loved the setting on the hill with no other houses in site. The bed swing gazebo was a great hit as well. We happened to be there during the harvest moon which added to the experience. The drive was not bad going to Yosemite two days and even drove to Kings Canyon to see the General Sherman Tree and the other amazing Sequoia trees on another day. Our son and girlfriend thought they were at the wrong place when they drove up with all the lights in the courtyard. The owners have gone over the top to assure a great stay with a great guest book with detailed dinning tips that were very helpful. It was very nice to find notes to help ourselves to spices etc that was a nice gesture. The complimentary champagne was a very nice gesture as well. It was perfect and we made great family memories with our adult son and his girlfriend. We felt comfortable enough to stand outside and Howl at the moon every night. Try that in your stuffy cities!

What an awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with 6 adults & 4 kids---ages 10, 6, 5 & 3. Every age had a blast! Lots of space for all to spread out and the yard was so much fun, with all of the games! About an hour from the Yosemite entrance---the town of Mariposa is really cute too! Mariposa coffee roasters was SOOOOOOO GOOD!!!! The house also had a VERY informative guest book with an extensive amount of trail info, local restaurants, things to do, etc. Would absolutely go back! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous house!
