We are educators. I also volunteer as a docent for the Sonoma County Park and Recreation Department. I speak to visitors, local school children and adults about migrating and local whales, tide pools and abundant wild life in the area. We would like visitors to enjoy our cottage as we have. The river has a remarkable calming effect.
The property is private. Launch kayaks from the property and enjoy the spectacular wildlife and view.
Close to the ocean cliffs, redwoods and restaurants. Nice clean quiet house right on the Russian River. Would stay here again.
This is a great spot. It is handy to Guerneville but is also quiet because it is on the opposite side of the river from the highway. Nice cottage, nice big balcony, nice view of the river, and great communication from the owner.
This was our 5th year renting the same place! We love that it includes great grounds - easy river access from the yard - views- kayaks and bikes... We bbq every night and sip coffee from the lovely deck! Catherine never disappoints with a clean lovely home - great kitchen tools and bedding! Just bring food and you really will not want to leave the property during your stay - extremely private!!! Melody
We enjoyed our stay in this light, bright, open feel cabin in a beautiful river setting. Nice views out the windows, secure parking and a huge private deck make this place even more attractive. A great getaway!
House was perfect for the two of us. Roomy, not at all cluttered. Nicely laid out. Deck is big and comfortable. A very quiet spot, not much noise except for all the amazing birds. Shower, tv, dishwasher, heaters everything worked just fine. bed, couch, chairs all comfortable. It was nice to be able to walk around Villa Grande community (few cars) but also fun to take longer walk to store. We really loved it, didn't want to leave.
We had a great time! Our only complaint is that we only booked it for three days ;) All of the recommendations from Catherine of places to go were spot on! Loved the wild life (especially the harbor seals at Goat Rock beach), various beaches on the river, bakery, kayaks and shops. We will definitely book here again if we come back.
Golf at Northwood Course, take in the panoramic views from high above the ancient Redwood forest on the Zip line in Occidental Zip - 15 minutes away. Fifteen minutes from where the Russian River empties into the pacific ocean. Stunning vistas. You are right in the heart of the Sonoma wine country. Visit Francis Ford Coppola's new winery or Preston organic winery. Catch a hot air balloon ride, or visit the Charles Schultz museum - reconnect with Peanuts!
