Cozy and family friendly
We had a wonderful stay! The home was cozy, clean and comfortable. Our children (6 and 8 years old) enjoyed the say as well. The home included everything we needed for a relaxing getaway (wifi, laundry, updated kitchen with all amenities, patio area/backyard). It is situated on a quiet street with a water view and is near several restaurants, farms, and wineries. We will definitely be staying here again!
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay, the amenities and the area. Thank you for sharing your experience with potential future guests. I look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon.
Best wishes, Marilyn Marks, Shorecrest Bed and Breakfast and Property Management
Cozy Cottage - Great for Family of 4
This cozy cottage is located on a quiet street, centrally located to everything the North Fork has to offer. The property is clean and well-maintained with a wonderful backyard for kids to play. Marilyn, the property manager, was very responsive and accommodating. The perfect size and location for a family of 4!
Charming, comfortable, and convenient to all! A perfect Stay!!
We loved our stay at the Wine Country Cottage! What a charming home with all the comforts and amenities. The house was IMMACULATE. Beds were so comfy! The large eat-in-kitchen made meal preparation a breeze. Living room was spacious and offered every amenity. The dvds, books and games came in handy on a rainy afternoon. We loved the adirondack chairs and pebble seating area in front for wine in the afternoon and backyard dining area for our evening meals. We enjoyed barbecuing local fish from Braun's paired with farm fresh corn and local wine! Making s'mores over the fire pit was a real treat for the kids! The location is perfect: quiet, a short walk to the water down a quiet lane and near Pequash Beach, which was great for our family - thanks also for the loaner paddleboards, noodles and towels - it made it so easy for us. WE WILL BE BACK! Our host was always ready to offer suggestions and answer questions. Thank you Marilyn for a lovely family vacation!
Comfortable and relaxing
I thoroughly enjoyed my long weekend at this great little house. It is on a nice and quiet street yet close to anything I could want to do. The bed was sooo comfortable and I slept great. The main bathroom, while not newly updated, is very clean, as is this entire house. I am very particular about clean and this house didn't disappoint. The owner has a lot of thoughtful touches in the house, such as board games for a rainy day, and beach towels and accessories for the hopefully plentiful sunny days! New Weber grill out back that I planned on using but decided to eat out often! Definitely enjoyed my stay.
Served the purpose but lacked much
The location was good and the update kitchen was ok but the gas grill wouldn’t start and wasn’t clean. There was food left from the previous tenant in the fridge...and trash in the bin under the kitchen sink. The bathroom needs updating and a good cleaning, a working exhaust fan and ceiling light would have made it more inviting. There were not enough surfaces for us to open suitcases other than the floor. Hangers were sparse and mostly old wire ones. There were clothes in one of the closets and a bag with beach towels and several swimming noodles left in the laundry room. While the house sleeps 6 there is not enough seating to dine more than 4 or hang in the living room in the evenings or on a rainy day. The exterior lights did not work. Gutters, still filled with last autumn’s leaves, contributed to a feeling of a neglected house. Too high a price to pay for this little house with great potential.
I was sorry to read your review, especially as if you had contacted me during your stay, instead of waiting until you left, I could have taken care of the light bulbs, the grill and would have brought over my house keeper and handy man to fix anything else that you felt was needed.
As a manager for this property rather than the owner, I have limited control over certain aspects, however I am local and always available to take care of most of the issues you were unhappy with. For instance the owner keeps extra chairs for the kitchen in the garage but as you were supposed to be only 4 people staying didn’t think to bring them out. We are keeping them in the laundry room now for more easy access.
The basket of towels in the laundry room were clean and intended for your use at the beach. The owner includes pool toys in case of children.
As far as I am aware, the grill was working, and clean when we checked it after you left, although not new. But the owner has replaced it now as there is only so much you can do to make an old grill sparkle like a new one after all.
The bathroom too is not new, but clean, and everything works, except perhaps the exhaust fan which is being addressed and we keep light bulbs in the hall utility closet in case one should go out. I would have been glad to replace it for you if I had known
I have forwarded your review to the owner and she is being very responsive, looking into adding some extra chairs, and maybe a desk and chair to one of the bedrooms and making sure all the light bulbs and fixtures are working properly. She's also been working on the landscaping.
So I thank you for pointing out where we can improve the amenities for our guests and the opportunity to let future guests know to call me if there is something they need

Cute and Clean Cottage!
My husband and I brought our 5-month old son and my mother to the North Fork for our son's first beach trip. Our stay was great and made that much easier and more pleasant because we stayed in such a nicely kept home that was a perfect fit for our family for the week. The house is very well maintained and being able to do laundry easily was a big plus! We also enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood and were just a quick drive to a beautiful beach. Marilyn was also very nice and made us feel welcome.
