Guestbook comments from the owner

A great balance of comfort and being outdoors all at the same time and the two-minute walk to a beautiful beach the ocean and sunsets is just a gem

The kids had a ball in the pool too and learned to swim much better then they would have in rainy Portland

Car: recommended

Puerta Vallarta has everything you could hope for, there is swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, parasailing, and many different day boat cruises and tours. The area has some great golf courses, and a waterpark. Puerta Vallarta is known for it's nightlife as well. There are many popular bars and disco's. A boardwalk runs the length of most of the downtown area (Malecon), which is the place to go for an evening stroll, it has Artists displaying their work, shopping, local food vendors, a nightly fireworks show, just to name a couple of attractions.

Other Activities: Puerto Vallarta has activities to many to mention some include, tours of rain forest, day cruises, water sports of all kind, great shopping.

We are right across the street from the ocean, so there is traffic noise. Ask me if this is a concern for you

You won't be disappointed

This was our second time visiting. We definitely will be going a third time. The place is clean, comfortable and private. Literally walk across the street and enjoy the beach with the locals. You will not be hasseled by any vendors.

I would suggest getting a rental car so that you can go back and forth into town as we did.

Down the road there is a restaurant called El Set. Have dinner and a few cocktails right at sunset. You'll never want to come home.

Second Visit....still amazing!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 10 days last year and loved it so much we thought.....hey, let's stay for a month next time! Fast forward to this April and we arrive at the villa to have Rene greet us once more; the smells, sights, and sounds of Casa Zafiro embracing us like an old friend...ahhhhh! The staff here is wonderful and can never do enough for you...any issue we had was addressed promptly and with a smile. Lot's of wildlife around.....the geckos, iguanas, and coatis all part of the charm and we enjoyed watching them. We had no issues with the coatis getting into the house but we did keep the open areas locked up at night. Used the bus service quite was convenient and very inexpensive at 8 pesos. We did alot of grilling and cooking at the villa.....was alot of fun trying new dishes and shopping in the local markets for the freshest seafood, meat, and fruits/veggies! The kitchen was equipped with most everything we needed and the water dispenser is wonderful to have if you are concerned about drinking from the tap. There are many great restaurants in Puerto Vallarta as well....from higher end to street food we tried many; some of our new favorites being Mariscos Cisneros and Santo Tacote for cheaper eats, Cafe de Olla for moderate, and Anejo Limon for higher end (but still inexpensive compared to home). The location of Casa Zafiro is in such a beautiful area and is central to many activities, whether you want to go north into the main part of Puerto Vallarta or south to Mismaloya or Boca to catch a water taxi to many hidden or less touristy beaches. Thanks to the staff and Debra for another wonderful trip......we will be back!

We were two families with young children, the space was perfect for us both as a home base to go out and explore from and as a lovely place to enjoy sunny days by the pool. The ocean breeze kept the home perfectly comfortable, we barely turned on the air conditioning. Our little ones delighted in spotting the iguanas by the pool, geckos, butterflies and even a gang of Ringtail Coati! We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Tips for future visitors: Pick up Groceries, especially basics like cooking oil, salt, pepper, ect in PV and cook at home, meals by the pool were one of the highlights for us. the small market in Mismaloya is great for fresh produce. We are Vegetarian and we found incredible restaurants in PV, Veggie Table, Planet Vegitariano, ect. We were not as impressed by the restaurant in the nearby resort, nor Chico's Paradise, which had some great views, but terrible food. The beach just across the road is fantastic for splashing in the surf, what a gem!

Thank you for sharing your paradise with us!

Overall good experience

  • 3 of 5

Loved the authentic Mexican feel. Pool area was beautiful with amazing tropical plants. We enjoyed seeing the "wildlife"-iguanas and coati mundi. On that note, do make sure bedroom areas and stairway area are closed off as you will have visitors especially if you have any food out. The villa could use some maintenance-the air conditioners did not work in upstairs master and also downstairs master, the toilet seat in upstairs bathroom came off, there was a strong odor coming from the floor drain in upstairs master bath, and 2 of the outside patio chairs were torn and not usable. If road noise is an issue, this is not your place. VERY Noisy!! You are on a main road with lots of taxis, buses and trucks. Overall, we had a good time and enjoyed our stay. The housekeeper and pool man were awesome.

Great Casa

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful month at Casa Zafiro and will definitely stay there again. Enjoyed our time at the beach, lovely pool and patio area. Great for a family. So much was supplied, toilet paper, soap , paper towels, water. Bus service was great , every 10 minutes. We did have a visitor for the first 3 days who enjoyed our fruit. We had a racoon (Coati) sneak into our Casa during the night. He managed to slide open a window to get in, problem was resolved quickly, a trap was also set up, caught, but managed to escape. Locks were installed on window. Can't wait for the next holiday, hopefully Casa Zafiro will be available.

Had a great time!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for three weeks and truly enjoyed our time at the villa. It is comfortable and feels like home. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need. Having a laundry room is a great perk and there is a place to hang up your wet clothes coming off the beach.

This was new for us, as we previously went to all inclusive resorts. We wanted a new experience this time. It was fun grocery shopping and finding cool little places to go. I don't think I will ever do the resort thing again. This was so much more enjoyable. Anything we needed was taken care of. Debra is an amazing host.

There is road noise which was an issue for some, my husband and I didn't have an issue with it. The pool is a little chilly but that didn't stop us from sitting around with our feet in it.

The evenings were cool so we didn't need the air conditioning and the open concept allowed a nice breeze through the day. The bus stop is close and the beach at Garza Blanca is beautiful and right across the street.

One more thing, safety is a huge issue for me and I felt very safe here.

A perfect place to enjoy this amazing city!
