The home was a very clean and comfortable living environment. My family enjoyed the living space, and quiet atmosphere. An extra bathroom and more parking would have made this place 5 Star quality. The owner, Walter was extremely helpful. I would rent again.
Perfect cottage in an absolutely ideal, central location. The house was exactly as described and pictured; located in the very quaint, quiet and picturesque Avondale neighborhood; five minutes from a half dozen restaurants (including Saw's Soul Kitchen and Post Office Pies) and two coffee shops and fifteen minutes from just about anywhere else in Birmingham (including the airport, downtown, Five Points, the Botanical Gardens, Crestline, and Mountain Brook); and Walter could not have been more kind, providing us with a number of recommendations. My own dining recommendations if you're lucky enough to find yourself in Birmingham: (1) Woodlawn Cycle Cafe and (2) Pastry Art Bake Shoppe. The former for breakfast, lunch and dinner -- once you try the breakfast, you'll come back for lunch, and then dinner -- and try the Baby Bites at the latter.
Myself and two friends stayed in Walton's 3 bedroom home near Avondale Park in Birmingham at the end of September. We were there for the US State Team Championship. It's a lovely bungalow that's quite comfortable and pleasant in a nice, quiet, and safe neighborhood. It's walking distance to entertainment in the Avondale district, and a short drive to any of the other Birmingham hotspots. He obviously puts a lot into care and maintaining it for guests. Includes everything you need, beds are comfortable, it's got a nice living room with TV, dining area, full kitchen with all utensils, pots, pans, etc that you'd need, and a nice side porch to sit outside. I'd recommend the place and Walton as a host anytime.
We loved the way the home was decorated...very cozy. The beds were very comfortable. I always judge the location by the linens on the bed, the mattress and the pillows. This was a winner! We enjoyed the farmers market on Sat. morning just about a 5-7 min. drive away. The home was also only a 10-12 min drive from Samford University where our daughter attends.
There were 3 couples who came down for a college football game. I had stayed here before so I knew we would have a comfortable place to stay. We weren't disappointed! The house is well kept and Mr. Brown has provided everything needed. The neighborhood is quiet, and there is a nice park nearby. Restaurants are within walking distance, so you really don't need to drive anywhere. This will be my first call whenever I come back to Birmingham!
