The property is owned and operated by Richard and Joelle Prather. A portion of the fruit grown in the vineyards each year is used for our own winery, Occidental Road Cellars.
Our goal is to grow and produce the finest ultra premium wine possible, from lands farmed by our family for four generations. The vineyard site is a rolling ridge with a southern aspect and spectacular views of the hills beyond. The moderate climate allows for fruit maturity with exceptional depth and balance. Occidental Road has always been the egress for our bounty, and always our way home.

This house was perfect for us (5 adults & 2 little ones) - it is even better than the photos! Private & peaceful with beautiful views. Spacious, well equipped kitchen - comfy living room (bigger than photos look). Nice bedrooms - great sheets. 3 minute drive into charming Occidental, or about 10 minutes into Sebastapol. We were very pleased and highly recommend this home.
This is a lovely, well furnished comfortable three bedroom home sitting right at the edge of a vineyard. It defines tranquility. The homeowners left us a bottle of their 2008 single vineyard pinot noir (not the two buck chuck). We look forward to returning.
Note that the house is on a property that operates as a working farm, growing wine grapes. There is a risk that there will be noise and dust from work being done in the vineyard. We were not inconvenienced, but we were warned upon arrival that there might be early morning noise from the harvest. (As it turned out, they were either picking elsewhere, or had delayed the harvest, and all was quiet.)
I do not want to say too much because too many people will want to stay here. It is absolutely my dream home, nestled atop a vineyard, views to die for, and a peacefulness that is unique. It was absolutely special!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Occidental Road vineyard house. We recently spent a few days there reconnecting with friends and exploring the region. The home is located along a country road, a few minutes drive from either Sebastopol or the little town of Occidental for groceries or eating out. The location is also convenient to Santa Rosa, Bodega Bay, and the Alexander Valley and Russian River Valley wineries. The setting is stunning, with sweeping views from the back of the home of vineyards and mountains. The house itself is spacious, clean, comfortable, and the kitchen is very well equipped. There is a very nice laundry room. Excellent sound system - made playing cards at night extra fun!! I highly recommend this house.
The home was everything we hoped for. Great location between Occidental and Sebastopol, close to many excellent wineries. The home was spacious, well maintained and well equipped, with a beautiful deck and terrific view. The quiet combined with the incredible night skies made for a memorable get away. The photos were very accurate, and there were no unpleasant surprises. Only wished we'd had more time to enjoy the well equipped kitchen. Perfect for a couple's wine-tasting weekend.
