Ocean View, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6, 2 lanais, 2 stall garage
Christmasberry cottage was originally constructed in 1991. It was my mother’s home until 2006. We have repainted inside and out, added a beautiful gas fireplace, replaced refrigerator and range and decorated with Hawaiian artifacts, Pegge Hopper and Karen Spachner prints.
For your vacation, you have a whole 1250 square foot, three bedroom house. There is one full bathroom and one bathroom with shower. There are two lanais, a large one overlooking the ocean and a smaller tiled porch from which you can watch and listen to the birds while basking in the morning sun. You have exclusive use of the two stall garage for your vehicles and toys. Your washer and dryer are also located there.
Design and decor: Outside, the house has the look of a traditional country home: red hip roof and green siding.
Inside, the living and dining areas are airy and inviting. Flooring in the big living room is beautiful native Ohia hardwood. Each of the bedrooms is uniquely decorated. My Geisha room has two Japanese inspired platform futons, and oriental style fabrics. The Ukulele room has a fun retro feel. The sunny master bedroom invokes a fragrant flower lei motif. Every room has big windows bringing nature close. Six people are accommodated comfortably.

The Green House
This home is set in a beautiful green setting. The house was clean kitchen equipment was adequate. Bed was comfortable. Need slippers and a robe in the winter months because the house is at 2,300 feet so is cool at night.
Warms up quickly during the day to low 70's.. The is a gas stove in the living room to warm up the house.
Margie is a lovely cheerful lady who will help with any problems that arise.
There were plenty of beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, and snorkel equipment. We went to the beach almost every day. Closest beach is 20-25 min away. Hapuna and Mauna Kea about 45 min away.
Was a great vacation from the cold mountains I live in.
A Hawaiian home for an extended stay
My wife, adult son and I spent three weeks in January at Christmasberry Cottage. The cottage, located near several coffee plantations, is well-equipped for an extended stay. We took full advantage of the beach chairs, beach towels, beach umbrella, snorkeling equipment, as well as the washer & dryer and the gas grill. Margie is a wonderful hostess who graciously provided us with fresh, hand-picked fruit during our stay. She and her husband live just up the hill from the cottage, but their house is hidden by the vegetation and you have a real sense of privacy. Since the cottage is located well above the town (and away from all the tourist congestion and noise), the nights do get chilly. We really appreciated Marige's advice to bring warm clothing and slippers. And we often used the gas fireplace as we had our Kona coffee each morning. If you are looking to have your own Hawaiian home away from home on the Big Island, I thoroughly recommend Christmasberry Cottage.
Nice location, beautiful views, the patio is the best!
Convenient to Kona, beach chairs and umbrella provided, delicious fruit upon arrival. Would rent again as it worked well for our family. 2 teenagers and they each had their own bedroom. The owner is near and is very helpful and kind.
Everything was great! Margie is a lovely hostess; very kind and helpful. The house was very clean, and it has all the supplies we needed.
We enjoyed our stay!!!
Thank you Margie!
Exactly as described
We were so pleased with the location. Everything was conveniently located. This cottage is nothing short of a true "Island Oasis".
It was lovely to meet you and great having you as our guest. Please come again whenever you can.
Charming and peaceful getaway
Nestled in five acres in the Kona coffee growing district, the Christmasberry Cottage is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Kona, yet close enough for easy access to all major shopping and points of interest on the Kona side of the island. The cottage was clean, well-furnished, and with a complete kitchen which made meal preparation easy. Margie, our host, had lovely flower arrangements in each room, and left huge bowl of local fruit for us on our arrival (the sweetest pineapple ever!) Margie lives nearby, on the property, and was there to answer any questions, but otherwise was very respectful of our privacy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Christmasberry Cottage is located above Kailua-Kona near historic Holualoa town. The newly redecorated house is set in an ohia- koa forest. It is an agricultural property with coffee, macadamia nut, citrus and banana trees. Situated up-country away from the hustle, bustle and heat of town, soft breezes, birdsong and an ocean view await you. Yet you are only 15-20 minutes from Kailua-Kona’s many amenities. Vacation here in this charming home and enjoy privacy, space and security in a gated community. Nature lovers will find this an ideal locale. From November to April, humpback whales can be seen right from shore. Dolphins can be seen year-round. Birds abound on your own 5 acre property. Travel just a little farther afield for outstanding birding at the ocean shore and upcountry. There is a 1000ft deep lava tube cave on the property (experienced cavers only).
