I really enjoyed the house. However the driveway was steep and parking interesting.

  • 3 of 5

My bed was comfortable. I loved the deck both in the morning and at night. The basement room was a little musty. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

Lovely, homey place to rest and destress at the end of the day.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed the house and all of the extras. We were not in there much because we were in the area celebrating my nephew's wedding. But when we came in from a long day we could rest on the porch and listen to some music. The beds were great with soft sheets, great matresses, and plump pillows. The kitchen had everything to prepare meals. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. The decor reminded me of staying with my grandparents and aunts. It brought back a lot of memories and we talked about the things placed around from our childhood. So, if you would like to get away from things and relax, communicate with family and friends, make new memories while reliving old one, and stay in a comfortable, homey place, then this is the place to stay.

Very quiet neighborhood. Houses close by, but it felt like we were alone in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

The house was clean and easy to be in for 5 people and a dog. The deck was great to contain the dog when he wasn't crated.

We had no trouble locating everything we needed for meal preparations. The location was very convenient to the hiking trails we were interested in.

The steep driveway made it interesting, but we had no problem negotiating it; it might have been more interesting with frozen precipitation.

Affordable, large, and homey. But big internet issue and a couple of minor annoyances.

  • 3 of 5

We appreciated finding a 3 bedroom home at a very affordable price. It's a good size, is comfortable, and has a nice appearance outside and in. We also liked the location. It was convenient to drive to both Brevard and Hendersonville.

However, we were extremely disappointed with the internet service, because there wasn't any for over half of our time there. Check in was at 3pm on Sunday, and that evening we called the contact number VRBO gave us because the WiFi wasn't working. We asked them why there was no internet and asked them to fix the issue. We were told this was a common problem, but that it would be fixed easily by the home owner resetting his router. However, this was not done until after 5:00 the next day. So we spent over 24 hours without internet access. To their credit, they did give us a partial refund due to the problems we faced with the lack of internet access. But please be aware that this may be an issue when you arrive.

The rest of these things are smaller issues, but we wanted future customers to be aware. First, the coffee maker did not seem to work correctly. When we first set it up and turned it on, no water would drip into the pot. The only way we could get water to drip down into the pot was to lift the pot so that the lid of the pot was making contact with the bottom of the filter area. So we were only able to get coffee by either holding the pot up with our hand for the entire brewing time, or by wedging a plate underneath the pot so it was lifted up and pressed against the filter part of the coffee maker.

Second, the burners on the stove were so warped that the pans would not sit flat on the stove burner. We had to place something under the handle of the pan to tilt the pan so that it would sit flat on the burner and cook over its entire surface instead of just on one side.

Third, while were cleaning up, the vacuum quit working. We did inform the owner about these three issues, and he agreed that it was likely time for a new coffee pot and a new vacuum cleaner.

Overall, I would say if you're looking for a decent, affordable, large space, this is likely a decent choice. But there are some downsides we wanted you to be aware of before committing.

Owner's Response: The vacuum and coffee maker have been replaced. On the stove burners someone had knocked the supports loose, once we put them back the burners were good again. We hope to have you stay with us again :) The internet usually works fine but this is a rural area so it's not always 100%.

Peaceful

  • 4 of 5

The cottage is located in a quiet setting and offers solitude. It was nice being able to enjoy the porch without being able to see the neighbors.
