Relaxed Austin at its best! This cool, modern South Austin home is located in historic Fairview Park at the edge of Travis Heights. Originally built in 1949, the house has been updated with a beautiful new addition and separate guest house. Owned by long-time Austinites, this family house was designed for entertaining and can accommodate up to 12 visitors. The main house has 3 bedrooms and an additional room with a fold-out Queen sofa bed.
Enjoy hanging out and relaxing after a day at the F1 track or SXSW in the large open living room with HD TV, Wii gaming station, small DVD library, and premium cable. We’ve stocked the kitchen with some of our local favorites for you to enjoy – Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka, Topo Chico, El Milagro Tortilla Chips, Rose’s Salsa, and Red’s Porch Gift Cards (best burgers and sangria in town!). The open gourmet kitchen overlooks the living room and boasts a tiered Silestone island and iPod stereo system. While the large custom dining room table seats 8, there is an additional seating area in the screened in porch that easily accommodates 6. The adjoining billiard room (pool table is on its way!) opens onto the living room and includes a kid’s loft stocked with games and toys.
This home is furnished with comfortable, modern furniture, gorgeous family antiques, and beautiful hardwood floors. All beds are made up with luxurious hotel linens and fresh pillows. The recently remodeled bathrooms are supplied with fluffy towels along with amenities for your use including shampoo/conditioner, body wash, sunscreen and hair dryers. The cozy guest house sleeps 4 on a King bed and Queen futon. The full kitchen includes a rustic dining table but the iron table on the front porch is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee! The full bathroom includes the amenities as the ones in the main house and a full tub and shower. High-speed wireless internet is provided for the main and guest house occupants.
The tree covered back yard is the ideal spot to enjoy your evening cocktail. This house offers everything imaginable for an ideal Austin evening: fire pit, trampoline, Adirondack chairs, grill, swing set, iron table and chairs, and grass lawn. While there is plenty of street parking, the driveway can accommodate 2 cars. You won’t need a car, though, to walk to S. Congress for fabulous local boutique shopping, great restaurants, and live music. The caretaker of this home is available 8:00a – 6:00p to answer any questions and does respond to text and email inquiries. Additionally, during your stay, the caretaker is on-call for 24 hour emergencies.
Reservation Dates: Please not that this house is primarily for rent during SXSW and F1. We are open to the possibility for rental at other non-holiday times at a rate of $2K per night. Feel free to email us with your dates.
What a lovely home! It is right in the middle of south congress but does not feel like it! Also, as a couple of other reviewers said, there is a lovely little hike and bike trail (2 miles out and back) which is great for any runners out there. Amenities were beautiful and the neighborhood seems super safe and beautiful.
We had a blast!
This property is amazing! It is located is the BEST part of Austin. Walking distance to great shops and restaurants (I love Guero's or Doc's Motorworks for a festive drink, Vespaio for dinner, and Continental Club for legendary live music). We were also excited to see the bats come out of the South Congress bridge this year - which is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. The property is both comfortable and luxurious. The kitchen/living room area is perfectly designed for open conversation while some are cooking and others are hanging out in the livingroom. The beds are comfortable! The neighborhood is quiet, and easily accessible to downtown and the Austin freeways. This place is a great find.
This rental was everything that the description promised and more! Clean, well-maintained, with a huge kitchen and plenty of space to relax and entertain. A short walk to South Congress where there are divine restaurants (try Perla's!), excellent music (Continental Club) and awesome shopping (too many places to name!) For those who like to exercise, just a few short running steps from the house is a park with great running trails which we took advantage of daily (in spite of the August heat!) Do also try Red's Restaurant -- a short drive away -- for its awesome food, attentive wait staff and terrific vibe (not to mention the Sangria -- yum!) Can't say enough great things about this property. Will definitely come back!
I first stayed in the guest house during SXSW 2011. I’ve returned several times since for long weekends staying in the front house as well during. I was a little sad to see that the family who owns it is now listing it on HomeAway, as it was my secret Austin hideout (insert pouty face). I love staying here because this house has everything – great location, quiet street, awesome backyard and the most important thing, super comfy beds! I usually rent a car but when I have needed to cab it, I have been really lucky walking to S. Congress via Hotel St. Cecilia and flagging one down (almost unheard of during SXSW and ACL Fest). My friends and I usually end up eating out a lot when in Austin but we did make dinner once at the house and the kitchen was amazing. It is stocked with everything you could need or want. I can’t wait to come back!
