After 25 visits to all the Hawaiian islands, this is where we landed. We've seen it all and Kauai's north shore is the best! We are always trying to improve our home and just removed all the carpet and installed beautiful wood floors in the upstairs bedrooms and loft. Wood floors are the best and stay clean and cool. Please click on the calendar tab above to check availability, it's always up to date. I favor stays that are back to back with other stays or ones that fill gaps of any size.
This condo is in the heart of the lush Kauai north shore.
Mauna Kai captures the true North Shore Feeling. A short hike down the Queen's path takes you to peaceful Anini Beach where you can safely swim or snorkel with the whole family. Calm waters and a rich underwater life make Anini one of the best swimming spots on Kauai. This peaceful stretch of beach is protected by the largest coral reef in Hawaii, so instead of foamy waves breaking up on the sand, you can expect a lake like atmosphere. The protective reef creates a beautiful blue lagoon, unsuited for surfing or body boarding, but perfect for family swimming. Many other close beaches offer great surfing, snorkeling, wave play and incredible beauty any time of year.
Mauna Kai is located between the Prince Golf Course and the Makai Course. This location will provide you with the finest tropical golf in the world or for some it may just be a nice walk, spectacular ocean views and great albatross and whale watching. Mauna Kai's tropical breezes and warm waters can be your next dream vacation.
Our beautiful Mauna Kai townhouse is in a lush garden setting at the end of a quiet walkway. It's an end unit with no one above or below, and only one common wall. The tropical landscaping is over the top and this summer the avocado tree was dropping fruit! Fresh delicious oranges were plentiful on the tree by the pool.
With three bedrooms there is plenty of room, two with queen beds and the third bedroom has a new king bed. In addition to the three bedrooms is a open room/loft with a new queen sleeper sofa, play area for the kids and a desk. This area has a DVD/VCR player and new LCD monitor. We enjoy staying there several times a year and make it feel like home, completely livable and fully functional.
Wood floors throughout the whole home give it that clean cool feel. The main floor living area has two story vaulted plantation style beam ceilings. Island style louvered windows offer good air flow to maximize trade wind cooling. The main living area is on the ground floor and stays cooler than units with second story living areas. A 120 gallon solar heated water heater offers plenty of hot water for multiple showers. This summer a complete solar electric system was installed to provide 'green energy' and as an added benefit it will fully shade the up stairs bedrooms. New wood floors have been installed upstairs replacing all carpet, it just doesn't stay clean like a wood floor does.
New furniture and curtains in the two upstairs bedrooms and loft, also with vaulted ceilings and fans (but no AC). The well equipped kitchen is remodeled with beautiful granite counter tops and maple cabinets. The upstairs bathroom has new marble shower and granite vanity top. The main floor bathroom has a new marble walk in shower and granite vanity top with vessel sink.
The Mauna Kai pool is the largest condo pool in Princeville, a pool where you can actually swim laps! It is now solar heated which is greatly appreciated in the cooler winter months. The gazebo offers gas and charcoal grills, sink, fridge and space for a private party for 50, however it is usually empty and quiet!
A short drive will take you to Hanalei town or Hanalei Beach Park, an incredible town beach with endless sand, soft waves, wade in swimming and boogie board fun. For the more adventurous, Na Pali Coast hiking, kayaking and Secret Beach are the Ultimate! Secret Beach is a 1/2 mile of ever changing natural sand, waves and cliffs with rarely more than a handful of souls.
A short stroll to the Westin Resort gives you access to the finest luxury spa and dining comforts, without the price of the room. Or maybe just visit for coffee, excellent whale watching, or the ultimate Bali Hai sunset! Bali Hai is the north shore's canvas for the last sunset in the United States each evening. The mountain's majestic profile is the beginning of the Na Pali cliffs along the north shore of Kauai and provides a romantic backdrop for ocean cruises, helicopter flights, and spectacular hiking adventures. It is also the million dollar sunset view just steps from our Mauna Kai condo in Princeville. A stay in our spacious 1500 square foot home is just what you're looking for.
The Princeville Center provides many dining and shopping options, including the local market to stock our fully equipped kitchen. We offer free high speed WIFI and plug-in internet service. A new HD LCD TV with a DVR will get you through a rainy day.
Princeville, on the north shore, is a great base to see everything Kauai has to offer. So come have a wonderful stay in Paradise.

The link below is good to look at to see what the waves are like. It also shows tides, wind, weather and water temperature. The wave heights are for the surfing area off the beach in Hanalei Bay. They aren't as big on the beach. When waves in the bay are below 4 ft it's relatively calm and at most beaches it is easy to swim. When the waves are over 10 ft it may be unsafe to swim and some beaches can be closed for swimming. In between 4' and 10' (waves in the bay) good judgement should be used. It may be too much for some or just right for wave fun. Good judgement should always be used.

About Bruce Padgett
Traveled to all the islands and settled here. The kids came as babies, now look at them. Aloha!
Bruce Padgett purchased this Townhome in 2011
Why Bruce Padgett chose Princeville
Our Mauna Kai condo is really a livable home, we go there and stay 4-8 weeks a year and love it. You would think some condos have never been visited by the owner. Ours is very functional. When we go we cook big meals with family and friends, the new kitchen is really a joy. Mauna Kai is central to all the best that Kauai has to offer. The pool is now solar heated, which is greatly appreciated in the cooler winter months.
What makes this Townhome unique
The Mauna Kai pool is the largest pool of any complex in Princeville, 78' long. The pool surface was just redone spring 2014 and was delightful to swim in this summer. The gazebo by the pool has several gas grills, a full refrigerator, shaded tables and room for large group activities, you may have it to yourself though! The large lanai at the condo has two tables and seating for 10.

Nice unit. Adults sleeping upstairs wished it had AC in bedrooms
Well maintained property
This was a perfect property for our multi-generational family vacation. The unit is very well kept, stocked, bright, and a nice place to gather and relax when not out and about. We had a few glitches but Bruce made sure they were addressed right away. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we came back to this beautiful island. Mahalo!
We really enjoyed the condo. This was the very best equipped place we have ever stayed, the kitchen had everything you could possibly need, there was an abundance of linens, and beach toys for the children. We would return here again.
Great property with great ammenities
We enjoyed our stay on Kauai and at this property. The townhouse was clean and well equipped. We never did get the hang of the television and the cable, but that was okay. We through the provided beach chairs in the back of our vehicle so we were always ready to site on the beach. This came in very hand when our Navy son was able to get us onto the Navy base on the west side of the island! Loved that the grocery store was so close. This was our fourth trip to the islands so we are used to the higher prices, still better than eating out all the time. Restaurants within the development were also good.
Comforts of home
My family of six were very comfortable in this townhome. The townhome was clean and inviting. The location was ideal for day trips both by foot and car along the North Shore and within the Princeville neighborhood. The kids loved the pool! We had a fabulous time staying at Bruce’s property! My family highly recommends this lovely spot!
Everything we wished for and MORE
My husband, children and grandchildren just returned from 10 wonderful days at this conveniently located condo. As the owner of a coastal beach condo myself, I really know what to look for in a condo. This condo is extremely well furnished - furniture, appliances, kitchen and even beach chairs, toys and even snorkeling fins and masks. The owner also provides everything long distance visitors need upon arrival - linens, towels (including beach towels), paper supplies, dry staples, soaps and laundry supplies. We felt immediately 'at home' upon arrival. The owner's personal reviews of nearby beaches, restaurants and shopping were so very appreciated. This was our 6th visit to Hawaii and it was the best ever as we felt closer to the real Hawaii.
Kauai Weather Weather you could be enjoying! Mon 11/26/2012 at 7 pm it is 74°F , today's high was H 80 F, and the low was L 66 F Step off the plane and feel the warm embrace of Kauai with average yearly temperatures ranging between 84 and 69 degrees. Ocean temperatures are also perfect ranging from 71 to 81 degrees year round. Kauai offers seven distinct microclimates, from lush interior spots to arid areas on the West Side. Mount Waialeale (elevation 5,148 ft) is at the heart of Kauai's uninhabited interior and is a quintessential rainforest with over 400-inches of rain per year. The rain that falls around Mt. Waialeale generally does not affect the coastal parts of the island, which get far less rain than the central spots (as little as 18-inches a year in western areas). Much of Kauai's rainfall is a nightly occurrence, and the rain showers that do occur are almost always brief. When you do see rain, wait for the beautiful rainbows that follow. The trade winds in Kauai also keep things cool for visitors. The winds are generally light and help chase away much of Hawaii’s humidity. With such great weather, any time of year is a good time to visit Kauai.
