About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Soothing Quiet Home. Beaches, Arts, And Restaurants Nearby.

Tastefully remodeled - the Conrad Hideaway is the ideal home-base as you explore all the natural beauty, art and culture that Sarasota has to offer.

Relax in the intimate living room (with fireplace and 40” flat screen TV) that opens onto the dining room and a music room that features a separate seating area and a pass through bar into the kitchen.

The private areas include two bedrooms and two baths. Each bedroom features a comfy queen size bed. Both bathrooms have been newly remodeled with European fixtures. The main bathroom is extra roomy with distinctive and functional custom tile-work and an oversized sparkling shower.

There are cool terrazzo floors throughout the centrally air-conditioned house and a nice mix of authentic mid-century and antique furniture.

The kitchen has also been recently updated and is bright and functional, with ample counter space, top-of-the-line cookware, etc.

There’s powerful free WIFI throughout the property, new quiet ceiling fans in the bedrooms, recently installed washer and dryer in the utility room, etc.

There is also unusually ample parking (two driveways) with the carport adjacent to the kitchen.

Outside there is a large fenced yard (small dogs will love the freedom to explore) with old growth oak tress for shade and tropical plants. In the outdoor seating area there is a gas barbecue grill and a table and chairs for outdoor dining for four. There are also 2 heavy teak loungers.

In short, inside and out, the owners have outfitted this very well-maintained house with your comfort in mind. You can feel safe, quiet and at home in this vacation rental.

The house sits behind hedges, well back from the (quiet) street on a corner lot in the distinctive and friendly Pinecraft section of Sarasota. Settled by Amish farmers who came to Sarasota almost 100 years ago, to this day Amish and Mennonite neighbors still ride bicycles in Pinecraft to the Amish markets (fresh fruits and vegetables as well as prepared foods) and restaurants which are just half a mile away across Phillipi Creek.

Functional location

  • 4 of 5

The "Hideaway" was a functional house, neat, tidy & and located in a culturally interesting neighborhood. This alternative to being on beach front was great for our dog as fenced yard allowed him to freely roam & enjoy long walks with us. The location makes accessibility to all of Sarasota & surrounding towns quite easy. We enjoyed the patio, the layout of the house & nearby shopping. We are returning again next year!

Roomy house with a large fenced in yard

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the comfort of the well furnished house with it's mid century theme. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to enjoy mealtimes. The Barbeque made outdoor cooking easy and Yoder's market was nearby providing fresh fruit & vegetables as well as take out meals. Our dog enjoyed the large fenced in lot. The neighborhood was conveniently located. It was a real treat to find the house clean and move in ready.

Excellent property.

  • 5 of 5

House is in a very good location in Sarasota, reasonably close to grocery shopping and the two prime beaches Siesta Key and Lido key. House was as described, clean and very well fitted out. The owner's agent was very helpful. The fact book in the house was excellent and covered all the essentials plus some helpful guidelines for visiting sites etc. We particularly enjoyed St Armand's Key and Lido Key and old Sarasota. I would highly recommend the property. Interestingly it is within walking distance of a quaint Amish area of the City which has good food shopping. John Caldwell, Toronto Canada

We enjoyed our stay!

  • 4 of 5

We rented this property for 4 weeks in Jan, 2015 - hoped to bring our small dog with us, but Rosie went to doggie heaven during the holiday season. The owner graciously refunded out pet fee/deposit and we kept our reservation intact.

We have fairly high standards and this property met our needs - keeping in mind that it is among the more reasonably priced homes of it's type. The entire home has terrazzo floors which are quite easy to keep clean. The baths are very functional and it's always grand having a laundry! The beds were firm, but comfortable.

As to the location, we really loved it! I could walk to the famous Yoders farm market and get most anything in terms of fruits, veggies and basics. Many of the Amish and Mennonites live in the area and keep their properties looking nice. If you have a bike, you can get downtown or the bayfront in 12-15 minutes - by car it's about 8 minutes. A nice park is one block away - and another, where the Amish tend to group, is about 5 blocks. Access to shopping and other places is very easy.

My wife and I prefer a neighborhood experience to being tourists cooped up in smaller rooms or condos. We had plenty of room to stretch out and an extra bedroom when some friends from up north stopped by for a night.

We would definitely consider renting this property again - but, frankly, we liked Sarasota so much that we just put a deposit on a small home there!

Perfect Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

What a great house! Large, open, light-filled, well-laid out, immaculately clean, with plenty of room for relaxing. It's located in a quiet corner of Sarasota, and only a short drive to The Trail, I75, downtown Sarasota, Lido Key and St. Armand Circle, and Siesta Key. Beds were very comfortable; the baths well-stocked with towels; and the kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy any meals we prepared. Because we stayed for a month, the new, full-size washer and dryer were most appreciated. The living room had 3 comfortable sofas for watching TV or movies on the large-screen TV. The ensuite bedroom was decorated with vintage circus posters, which sets a theme for any Sarasota stay...The Ringling Museum is not to be missed! The owner and his agent were welcoming and very responsive. We had one small concern which was resolved on the same day. Altogether a wonderful place to enjoy a month away from the snow.

Car: recommended

Lido and (the world famous) Siesta Public beach are inviting destinations. You can choose to drive to these beaches or take public transportation. The buses from Bahia Vista and Tuttle run once an hour and are scheduled to get you to Siesta Beach in about 20 minutes.

In addition to its beaches, Sarasota is famous among golfers for its abundance of world-class courses . Bobby Jones Golf Club - a 45 hole municipal facility with 18 holes designed by in 1926 Donald Ross – is just a few minutes drive from your front door. Advance tee time reservations (up to 5 days in advance of desired play date) are available to the public on the American and British Courses at Bobby Jones are available online or by calling.

The house is in a safe, historic and quiet residential neighborhood on a heavily shaded street with old growth trees - and it is very centrally located. Sarasota Memorial Hospital is just 5 minutes away. Even closer are the YMCA (where short term memberships can be arranged) and the remarkable Sailor Circus (performances at the end of March and around Christmas should not be missed). Adjacent to the Sailor Circus is the historic Sarasota High School building, which is under renovation to become the Sarasota Museum of Art.

Visitors will love to explore Sarasota’s Main Street (a great place to eat and shop with a bustling Farmer’s Market every Saturday morning). Any location on Main Street or in downtown Sarasota can be reached in under 10 minutes by car. That means the Opera House, the Symphony, the Ballet, the Burns Court arthouse movie theater, the Hollywood 20 (20 screen) multiplex, the Marina and numerous music venues are all within a 5-10 minute drive. It takes slightly longer (about 15 minutes) to get to the Ringling Museum, the Historic Asolo Theater, the University of South Florida Sarasota/ Manatee, New College and the Ringling College of Art. The Sarasota Airport is 15 minutes away and it’s an hour’s drive to Tampa’s International Airport.

Fishing charters can be easily arranged – and kayak and powerboat rentals allow you to explore the bay and mangroves. Even if you don’t go out on the water, the breezes from the Gulf of Mexico make their way up Phillippi Creek to the charming Pinecraft neighborhood and the Conrad Hideaway.

In addition to easy access to the Gulf of Mexico, you will be less than a half hour drive from Myakka State Park – one of Florida’s oldest and largest – with 57 square miles of wetlands, prairies and woodlands. Myakka is popular for alligator and bird watching (take a ride on an airboat to see both eagles and gators), hiking, fishing, camping, and biking.

Also nearby (a 15 minute drive) is the elegant St Armand's Circle, where you can shop and dine at several excellent restaurants and stop for ice cream or fudge at Kilwins (we will give you a long list of places all over Sarasota when you arrive!).

We are confident that the great variety of nearby attractions will satisfy the most demanding of travelers.
