The Lodge at Lake Arrowhead was built by German craftsmen and master masons during the 1920's oil boom in Southern California and features massive stone fireplaces and hand carved wood beams. Tom Cannon, an oilman from Signal Hill, CA finished building this world class hunting lodge for his personal guests in 1928 in the then newly formed private community of Lake Arrowhead. Since that time, this property has served as a hunting lodge, a private residence to several families, and most recently as a Bed and Breakfast style Inn.
The Lodge has 6 bedrooms on the top 2 floors, all with a private full or 3/4 bath and most with lake views. On the main floor, there is a large salon with a piano, massive stone fireplace with hand carved mantle & beams, a library/ media room with a large flat screen TV & Blue Ray / DVD player, a convenience kitchen and sitting room with wood burning fireplace, an intimate dining room and full bath. On the lower level, there is a large kitchen, large dining room with wood burning fireplace, a family room with a large flat screen TV and Blue Ray / DVD player and a laundry room.
The Carriage House sits directly behind the Lodge and has 2 junior suites as is available at an additional charge for Lodge guests requiring 2 additional bedrooms. Each suite has a queen size bed, a queen size sofabed, 3/4 bath with a shared kitchenette between them.
There is abundant parking with 6 off street private parking spaces on Lakes Edge Road and 14 off street private parking spaces behind the Carriage House on Holiday Lane. The Lodge is located directly across the street from the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa and the Village of Lake Arrowhead, with over 50 shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The Lodge and Carriage House sit on a beautiful 0.6 acre lot with many large mature trees. The property is surrounded by a tall iron fence with locking gates for your privacy and security. This beautiful estate offers the very best of Lake Arrowhead and is only a short drive to ice skating in Blue jay, skiing & snowboarding in Big Bear. I stayed at this cabin with my family and friends for my daughter’s wedding directly across the street from Lake Arrowhead Resort hotel, It was so clean and comfortable with my kids more than enough room and just felt the comfort and elegance of this place, the surrounding of just nature, tree’s and the view of the lake everything was so close the Stores, Village and the Resort Hotel was perfect! The family room was awesome for family time together near the fireplace and two kitchens was fantastic with everything we needed. I give this place a 5 star and would do it all over again. Scott Anderson was so awesome and BJ was the best so nice and helpful. ******Thank you for this amazing weekend that I will always remember and appreciate******
We held a Women's Retreat here - what a fabulous house! Beautiful and quirky, we all enjoyed it. Big gathering room for our group, but lots of privacy (and bathrooms!) for everyone. Minor plumbing problem on the 2nd day, called the maintenance guy and he came out quickly with a plumber and fixed it. Lots of stairs!
We had our whole family of 14-16 people stay at this property for my mother's 60th birthday. Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. The property manager Scott was completely accommodating. We even had a private chef cater one of our evening dinners there. Scott was more than happy to show the property to the chef before she came as well! There is plenty of space and then some for everyone, and I'm not kidding when I say you can get lost in this place! There are lots of stairs, but everyone including my 85 year old grandmother was okay with that. We all gathered mostly in the common room, where the grand piano is. This house was built in 1920 for a wealthy oil business man and he spared no expense; If you were to include the carriage house like we did, there are 3 kitchens, 8 bedrooms, and 10 bathrooms! Beautiful floors and woodwork throughout! We look forward to annual vacations there!
We had a large reunion (17) and having all of us fit in one dining room was a nice feature. The common areas were roomy and eight rooms with in-suite (or nearby) bathrooms really fit our needs well. Location near the village was convenient, we walked everywhere.
Had a great winter family reunion. So nice to have a place with so many private rooms and baths, The suites were especially well-decorated, spacious and charming with great views of the lake. The Great Room was a wonderful place to get everyone together with its huge stone fireplace and grand piano. The kitchen and dining room easily handled even our large family. Plenty of parking was available in the upper parking lot; never had to use our cars as the village and lake were within easy walking distance.
Nice to see this older property so well preserved and still functioning to delight our current generation. Our grandchildren referred to it as "the castle" and had great fun just exploring the many rooms and grounds. Overall, we would highly recommend this property.
The place was perfect and spacious. There was plenty of space for the little ones to play, teenagers to do what they do, and the adults to hang out. We did not need to turn on the fans or window A/C units throughout our stay. The place is conveniently located to grocery shopping, shopping/shopping, eateries, and activities. The boat tour provides some interesting information about Lake Arrowhead and you also get a sneak peak into luxurious living. The only downside is there's' not a whole lotta beach, which is why I did not give 5 stars.
Lake Arrowhead is a private lake, so you are not permitted to use your private watercraft on the lake. Boat charters and water skiing are available through local service providers.
