Our house is a vintage beach cottage on a quiet and quaint street at the very southern end of Wrightsville Beach. This house was built by Bryan's grandfather in the 1960's and has been a gathering place for the family over the generations. We hope that you will find it a charming place to relax and unwind. Sunsets over the sound and sunrises over the ocean are offered at no extra charge!
Mid-century is very popular now and we love that! We're mid-century too. Our cottage is truly mid-century vintage. The kitchen is lovely with an old gas stove and original vintage blue formica counters. The old wood paneling glows warmly in the afternoon sun. All the floors are hardwood. The whole house is second story and the houses on three sides are only one story so there's a royal view out of every window. We've had fun furnishing the house like it's 1960 all over again.
The house is clean and dry with lots of natural light. The bathrooms and appliances are all updated, of course and there's central air. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking.
The sound, called Banks Channel, is across the street with a public access on either end of the street. The front porch looks over Banks Channel and has a great sunset view.
There is off street parking for four cars. And an outdoor shower.
Public beach accesses to both the Channel and the ocean are just down the street. The beach is one block east.
It's a lovely stroll along the beach and around the tip of the island at Masonboro Inlet. There's a bird sanctuary there so bring your binoculars. Or, often, there will be Audubon Society volunteers who will let you use their binoculars and scopes and provide information. Scheduled bird talks are also available.
Across the inlet is Masonboro Island, to which you can paddle or motor. It's 8 miles of uninhabited beauty.
We LOVE to sail (see the photo of our boat) and we'd be happy to invite you and your family along, weather dependent, so check with us! We have beautiful wooden sailboat that's comfortable and safe for everyone. We sail in Banks Channel, not much in the ocean.
For paddle boarders or kayakers, we can show you the paddle routes through the marsh just across from the house. The access to the water is just across the street from the house. Easy to carry your watercraft.
Bicycling on the beach at low tide is always fun and bikes are the best way to get up to downtown WB for the restaurants. We offer bicycles as needed.
