A great stay at the "Little House"!
My wife and I and our Irish Terrier spent four days/nights at this wonderful little house in late September, our first trip to Door County. We can echo what many others have already stated – it is a charming, well equipped little slice of “old Door County” on an amazing piece of property. The sunsets and star gazing from those Adirondack chairs at the edge of the rock wall above the water were great, and the stairway going down to the water should be in the stairway hall of fame, very well designed and constructed. We were pretty busy while there and wish we had made more time to just enjoy the solitude and privacy sitting out on the porch. We cooked a couple of meals using the kitchen and gas grill and everything worked well, and also had great dinners at the very nearby Shoreline Restaurant and the Cajun-influenced Fireside Restaurant in Sister Bay. The Island Orchard Cider House in Ellison Bay is close by and not to be missed if you’re a cider fan, and also don’t miss Bea’s Ho Made shop less than a mile from the house. Dan was an extremely good communicator (even keeping in touch while he and Cynthia were in Iceland!) and we had a very enjoyable chat when he stopped by to make sure we had gotten in OK since there is minimal cell service. We couldn’t imagine coming back to Door County and not staying at the Little House on the Bay…..thanks Dan and Cynthia for making it available!
We always enjoy reading/hearing that our renting folks have had a nice time staying with us at our retro "Little House on the Bay" ---excellent renters as well and we certainly appreciate them staying with us.
We absolutely loved the time we spent at the Little Cabin in the Woods! If you are looking for the most up to date amenities and furnishings, this is not it.
If you enjoy being away from the crowds, shoppers and hub-in... run, don't walk!
Favorite activity: listening to SILENCE, and then making a list of what we can hear... rustling trees, a bee, many different kinds of birds, lapping water.
It's a great place to refresh your spirit.
Believe the photos. Picturesque!
Beautiful location with stunning views. Cabin is well kept and clean. Kitchen is better equipped than most others. Dan was wonderful to work with and had lots of suggestions for local attractions. Very pleased to find such a comfortable, homey cabin for us and our dog.
It is always fun for us to see others come to Door County and enjoy their stay.
Cozy, private retreat
We had a wonderful time at the 'Little House on the Bay'. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and the cottage provided us with seclusion and a beautiful retreat that we desired. The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean and in good repair. We loved the stairs down to the lakes edge. We also enjoyed a fire in the pit in the back yard. It was great to be away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger towns yet close enough to visit when we wanted to. I would love to return to the 'Little House' in the future.
My family and I stayed at the "Little House on the Bay" and we had a awesome time. The location is spectacular, and the steps to the rocks down by the water are really nice. We saw a little red fox, mother deer, and a baby fawn decided to lay in the grass near the driveway. Needless to say, that was really cool for the kids. The location provides a peaceful getaway and the sunsets are really great. We enjoyed watching the boats and seagulls all the time. The location provides a great spot to drive to shops in Gills Rock, or down the road to Sister Bay as well. We were only 2 miles from the Boat Ferry to Washington Island, which also was a fun time. In addition had a charter to go fishing and caught some Salmon! Our family really loved everything about the little house and the quiet, peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed all the trees, rocks and flowers as well. Thanks Dan & Cynthia for a great vacation, and hope to return someday.
Our family of four, plus our dog, all loved our weekend stay at Little House on the Bay. The location is beautiful, peaceful and convenient. We loved walking and admiring the views from the entire "tip of the thumb" area. The view of the lake is just spectacular, and the stairway to the water is really a work of art! We drove to the Emphraim bay area to watch the sunset, but, then discovered that the view right from our window when we got back to "Little house" was the most awesome!
The owners are friendly and easy to work with. Thanks so much for a memorable weekend, Dan and Cynthia!
If I had a crystal ball ---I likely would see their two children while reminiscing together ---stating --- some years down the road from now,---something like "remember when our parents took us to that cabin, etc. up in Door County---lets take our kids up there--it was so much fun to be together." All of these seeds are being planted today.
