We had a wonderful getaway Everything was well stocked. We enjoyed the luxuries of home. The woods were beautiful and the driveway was wide and easy to navigate. I would recommend this home to large family as it was roomy with ample privacy.

Wonderful home and great vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this wonderful home over the Thanksgiving holiday. What an incredible vacation. Both the adults and kids (13, 11 and 7 yr old) loved every minute. Sitting by the fire in the morning and taking in the views from this beautiful home always made it difficult to get the day going but once we did the area had so much to offer. Kids and adults all enjoyed skiing at Cataloochee, horseback riding, hiking, trip to Biltmore & Ashville, Sierra Nevada brewery tour, many trips to Barber Apple Orchard near by, picking out and cutting down a Christmas tree to bring home and, of course, sitting back and relaxing at this comfortable home. Come dinner time, Waynesville offered so many great restaurant choices (Frogs Leap remains one of our favorite by far and Bourbon Barrel our least favorite). However, if you are wanting a relaxing evening at home cooking, this home is fully stocked with cooking supplies. Plus having 2 full kitchens in the house (one up and one down stairs) made cooking Thanksgiving dinner much easier!!! This house is so warm and inviting and definitely offers all the comforts of home. We couldn't imagine a more ideal spot for a NC mountain getaway and hope to come back real soon. Thanks so much for sharing your home with us and making our Thanksgiving a memorable vacation!

A vacation in the mountains.

  • 5 of 5

This place is very peaceful and relaxing. The cabin was very nice and cozy. This cabin had it all the bottom floor was awesome and fun. The main level was wonderful and feels like your at home. The deck was my favorite becouse you can just seat outside in the rocking chairs in the morning and see all types of birds feeding. Sunrise and night time seeing the moon was phenomena. And the most coolest part of this cabins was the upper and last floor in the bed room you can fall asleep looking at the stars throw the sky lights. My family and i have stayed in many cabins in North Carolina and by far this is the best and most relaxing stayed. This is a little piece of heaven according to my father.

Beautiful Home and un-believeview

  • 2 of 5

This home is nice for a wonderful vacation with a large group or just two. The home is well supplied. Our only issue is during season the house keeper didn't have enough time to clean the home properly. The owner stated she was busy and sent and un-experience person to clean. The porch was covered in leaves and lots of dust. Our stove wasn't cleaned at all, and supplies arrived late in the day after we had purchased what was missing. Housekeeper was honest with owner and told a few fibs. But we loved the home, the inside and out. Wi Fi is limited because of location and no phone service via cell phones. Phone in home you could use. Be sure to check out the upper outside sloops we saw many deer and lots of birds hang around porch. Being an owner of many property I was just stunned when I mentioned what was wrong, the reply from owner was, what are you doing trying to get a Free ride. Also she didn't need the money. I still to this day this has bothered me. In all my life I never had anyone say this to me. Being a well to do family as well, I wouldn't ever make a comment like that to a renter. But all in all we loved the home. My only comment would be that you tell her what you want up front so there are no secrets once you arrive. Have fun and my brother who is ill loved his visit and the company. Our friends live there and we will soon. You can't get enough of Wayneville..Kathy B

Owner's Response: I am glad to see that this vacationer's tone has greatly mellowed. A very tense vacationer finding fault with everything and being very shrill with my dear housekeeper, whom had arrived that first afternoon with further supplies, which I don't have to supply. Having never dealt with anyone like this before, I asked her if she wanted to leave, as I didn't need her money, she said "No" that she loved the house. Yet she kept complaining. My Housekeeper and I felt that perhaps she wanted a free ride and needed to be shocked back to reality. The wifi wasn't responding when she arrived which set her off, although straightened out by early evening. Leaves on the porch furniture is to be expected in October. The fireplace flame is adjusted by remote, all clearly marked. Every TV has directions as to use. Hard to get phone service in the mountains unless you have Verizon, she was advised to use the house phone. There was a problem with the oven, which is electric. Apparently when the housekeeper turned on the oven to be cleaned, it never cleaned, unaware that apparently the computer board had gone bad. Thank goodness there was another oven in the house that worked. The stoves were working as they run on propane. As in any home appliances can have problems. I always fix immediately. There are no secrets as indicated in the review. I always tell my guests to open all the cabinets and closets and they should find everything they need and then some. My guest reviews up-to-now, have always been very positive. I trust the good reviews will continue to prevail in the future. Diana

Tremendous house and property!!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about this house is perfect. We stayed here for 6 nights while exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Pisgah Forest and surrounding communities. It is a beautiful home with great furnishings and decor, and has a great view. We cooked several meals and found everything we needed. This feels like someone's home, not like a rental. We highly recommend this to anyone looking for something in the Waynesville area. We enjoyed fly fishing, golf, hiking, and shopping in the local area. My wife also enjoyed all of the hummingbirds and butterflies around the porch. We had a great vacation, and really appreciate the owner making this property available.

The log home is in a gated subdivision that does not feel like a subdivision at all. When you first arrive it feels a little remote because you do not know where you are going . We found after settling in that it was not very far to town and the highways to Waynesville and Asheville. We had easy access to rafting, golf, hiking GSMNP, Blue Ridge Parkway, shopping, gas etc. and any drives you have are beautiful anyway. As far as the home is concerned - it is extremely comfortable and very well stocked. The outside decks and covered porches are great for relaxing and the grounds are beautiful. Main floor has kitchen, dining room, family room, laundry room and Master Suite. My oldest son loved the downstairs with its own little efficiency apartment with kitchen bedroom dining room and living room combined with separate bathroom. Upstairs is a nice seating area overlooking the family room below and another bedroom and bath. Everything was in great working order and the owner could not have been more helpful. She provided me with golf information, where to catch July 4 fireworks and a charcoal grill for cooking out on the deck. I had not cooked with charcoal in quite a while and I had forgotten how good the steaks and burgers taste when cooked over charcoal. We are in the area fairly often and have been trying different VRBO houses. This one is a winner and we will definitely return!
