My family and I live in Brooklyn and my parents flew in from Europe for a few weeks.
We decided to spend the July 4th weekend on the Cape - my parents' first Cape Cod experience.
The Blue Door did not disappoint.
Deborah was actually out watering the beautiful flowerbeds when we arrived! All picture postcard perfect!
With it's classic New England charm, the small house was perfect for all our needs.
The small porch room was great for relaxing in the evenings, the kids loved access to cable (naturally)
and we all enjoyed the outside space with grill for our last night bbq dinner.
Each room was well appointed, very comfortable and perfectly clean. The outdoor shower was a great experience too.
My dad and my son spent some quality 'grandpa/grandson' time together down on the jetty fishing the pond at the end of the lane,
and with the beautiful Seagull Beach only a 2 minute drive away, this property is a great choice for any family seeking some quality downtime on the Cape.
Our family absolutely LOVED our stay! We were welcomed by a generous gift bag that had a bottle of wine, Keurig coffee cups, useful info about different things to do, and a more. The proximity to different beaches was great- just a few minutes drive to Seagull Beach which was a perfect beach for our tot. Deborah was wonderful to work with, as she was very prompt, helpful, and thorough whenever we had questions. We hope to stay at this wonderful cottage again in the future!
We were a bit disappointed when we pulled up to the house. The photos posted on the web must have been taken many years ago as the house is in desparate need of updates, painting and a heard core cleaning. The laundry "room" is literally under the house only accessible through the basement doors outside and not a place you want to be alone in the dark. The house in general was smaller than we expected (ESP the kitchen). Our first night we killed numerous spiders in the bedrooms and bathroom upstairs and the second day in the house we woke up to find 100s of baby ants crawling around the kitchen. To the owner's (Deborah) credit, she was extremely responsive whenever we emailed her about the issues we were having and she arranged to have an exterminator come and spray the next day for the ants (unfortunately the ants were back a few days later but not as bad and apparently it's a problem at many houses in the area this time of year) She was also always prompt to respond to any questions I had and left us a bottle of wine when we arrived. The screened in porch was our favorite room and we ate all meals out there. The 1.5 bathrooms are both very small and old and the full bath leaks out the window onto the deck where the grill is when you use the shower. My husband and daughter loved the outside shower which they found to be nicer than the inside one. The house is in a village that has many similar older looking small homes but it was nice because you can walk to the salt water pond there and fish. The house is suitable for folks on budget that don't mind the various little inconveniences.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house was conveniently located to beaches, restaurants and shops. After a day at the beach it was nice to come back to the outdoor shower before relaxing in the yard, deck or the screened in porch. The house had everything we needed for a great vacation!
This vacation rental is a lovely, clean and well-maintained property. Located in a small village with about 20+ or so cottages - neighbors are extremely friendly and helpful. I rented the house with my husband, three kids and my uncle.
We had pleanty of room to enjoy our vacation with 3 bedrooms, full bath upstairs and a half bath, kitchen, dining room, living room, sun-porch downstairs. Small kitchen, but the dining room is steps away, so there's plenty of room. The sunroom is a great addition to this property, providing a space for the kids to spread out and play, watch TV, etc., with nice a nice area for the adults in the living room with plenty of comfortable seating. Kitchen stove works great, new, clean microwave and Keurig coffee maker, toaster, blender – all we needed to prepare meals at home and enjoy in the house or on the deck or picnic talbe in the back yard. We plan to rebook again for another getaway.
Bedrooms: the one with the twin bed is a small bedroom and only fits one person. The other bedrooms are spacious.
Outside deck and nice yard with picnic table. VERY close to the beach. We loved this house because it's clean, well-maintened and close to everything.
Homeowners were wonderful to deal with. booking, arriving, departure, all great.
Was very difficult staying in the home with the smell it had. Left early because of it. The home is very outdated with an ant problem in the kitchen. Ants crawled on our food daily. Good location.
Tennis courts, Play area with swings, 10 acres bordering salt pond. Launch your kayak from the dock by the salt pond. Paddle to Parker River.
