Overview

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

Decorated with contemporary art, this beautiful, fully furnished rental is completely equipped and ready for residents. Perfect for any season, the air conditioned apartment includes parking for up to two cars, a small outdoor patio, and is a lovely home away from home for one or two people.

The town of Madison is the perfect summer destination. Under two hours from Manhattan, twenty minutes from New Haven, and just 2.5 hours from Boston, Madison is a quaint getaway from city life, but is far from isolated. A centrally located train station connects to the Shoreline East Railroad, making travel into surrounding cities simple.

Local destinations like nearby Premium Outlet Shopping Centers; Mystic seaport and Mystic aquarium; Yale University; the Peabody, Yale Gallery, and British Art Museums; and the Goodspeed and Longwharf theaters make for great day trips. However, despite the temptation of these surrounding attractions, it's hard to believe that anyone would feel the need to go much further than Madison's town center. Just a three minute walk from the rental, the town is home to a beautiful library, a variety of coffee shops, world renowned book shop RJ Julia, Madison Art Cinemas, and a handful of restaurants and sweetshops, including local favorite Ashley's ice cream. Madison also boasts the Sculpture Mile, a free, self-guided walking tour of unique and eye-catching art which lines the picturesque town.

Staying for the summer? Madison's sandy, New England beaches are scenic and relaxing, the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon. A small public beach is located just down the street, and the larger East Wharf beach (pictured below) is just a ten minute walk away.

About The Owner

I have lived in Madison, CT with my two children for sixteen years, and I love the town. I take full advantage of the local beaches and take daily walks with my dog along the nearby shoreline. The rental is located across the driveway from our home, so I am available if issues arise, or if you simply have a question about where to find a great meal! I teach public high school, and enjoy meeting those who come to stay in the apartment throughout the year.

A cute free standing cottage within walking distance of the shore

  • 4 of 5

The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Linens are provided. There is a sidewalk running along the shore. It is a great area to walk. The house is minutes from the town green and from town which is lovely. The movie theater is close as is the grocery store. A good urgent care facility is just minutes away, too. There is also a beautiful state beach nearby with a greenway trail.

Perfect Little Gem of a Guest House

  • 5 of 5

This was my first experience using HomeAway and I couldn't have picked a better property. Madison is the epitome of "pretty" New England and this property, located on a gorgeous street, a half block from the ocean, did not disappoint. The home was spotless and is filled with art which compliments the lovely furnishings. The living room has a massive fireplace and is well stocked with books, games, and puzzles. The bed is super comfy and the bath is stocked with super plush towels. The kitchen is amazing. I had no trouble preparing dinner for my family. Every kind of utensil you could need is provided and there's tons of counter space. There is also a laundry closet with stackable washer and dryer which was so very handy. There's a second bedroom, which I didn't use, but the closet contained lots of beach gear. Since I stayed over Christmas week I couldn't take advantage of a lovely little enclosed patio with table and chairs and a Weber grill. Must be pleasant in warmer weather. Gini, the owner, lives in her house across the driveway...thanks for the wreath on my door, Gini! She is friendly and helpful and did check in to see whether anything was needed but was not at all intrusive. Anyone choosing this property is in for a treat.

Great stay in Madison, CT

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved the apartment! Even though we sent in a request for rental on Monday evening, we heard from Gini (the owner) almost immediately. The apartment did not disappoint. We enjoyed all of the great modern art throughout house. In addition, the living room was had skylights, a large fireplace and comfortable furniture and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc. Our only regret: we couldn't spend a whole week at the apartment. Madison was a lovely small town and we had easy access to New Haven. We would like to return in the summer to take advantage of beaches!

Lovely Apt

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment central to both town and beach/water. Very private, lots of space, and friendly owner.

We were left to our own devices, but we were reassured if we needed anything to just ask. Owner lives right across the driveway which is very convenient, but doesn't intrude at all.

Definitely recommend this apartment for a single couple, or two.

Well-deserved five stars

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in Gini's cottage for three weeks in March. All the reviews below are spot on. It's clean, spacious and very comfortable. Nice linens and bedding too. The kitchen is well-equipped and provides lots of room for two cooks. Located in a beautiful and quiet residential neighborhood, the cottage is a short walk into Madison and beaches. While the cottage is on the owner's property, it has a private setting surrounded by woods. The owners are not in the least intrusive unless you need something or have a question. Madison is one of my all-time favorite coastal towns. It's laid back and friendly, with a wonderful art cinema and independent book store. There's a fairly new walking trail from the town to Hammonassett State Park and beaches, which is lovely. Hope to return soon!

Perfect little property

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best self-catering properties I have ever stayed in. We tend to do a lot of cooking and we couldn't have asked for anything more out of the kitchen, which was probably better equipped than our own. There were plenty of towels and linens and, as a previous guest has commented, the bed really is very comfortable. The property has been designed to give a real feeling of open space without being hollow or echoey. Spotlessly clean with good laundry facilities. We found plenty to do in the local area, a tour of Yale University, Gillette Castle State Park and Hammonasset Beach State Park. Madison is a sweet little town with all the necessary facilities, including a train station allowing travel to New London and New Haven and stops in between (and possibly elsewhere but you'd have to check).
