5580 Winnemucca is an octagonal loft elevated on a massive pole set deep into a forested mountain slope. Practically invisible from area streets, the home emerges from the woods as you drive up the 200-foot driveway, with level parking for up to four cars. Take the steps up the side of the hill to the front porch deck landing and enter the house. The living room features six floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the tops of the trees and the mountains beyond. Guests can enjoy a leather sofa, a love seat that folds out to a twin bed, a dining table and four chairs, and rocking chairs. Off the living room is a fully equipped kitchen, with new appliances, which opens out onto the sunny south-facing deck. The bathroom provides a large shower and ample soft towels (no bathtub). The bedroom includes a queen pillow top mattress on a handmade Southwestern style bed with matching nightstands and reading lamps, a chest of drawers, glider rocker, closet and bookshelves. The bedroom also has a sleeping loft, accessible up a ladder, with a full-size bed. This loft includes a catwalk to the 'kid loft' where older youngsters can take their sleeping bags.
A laundry room is available on a lower level, as well as a detached room (extra $25/night) with a single bed and full-size sleeping loft.

Hi, I'm Don and I lived in this fabulous, unique little elevated house from 1994 until 2010, when I married Vicky and we moved six miles away to Manitou Springs. I raised my boys in this house, climbing trees, hiking Pikes Peak and using it as our base camp for amazing outdoor adventure. You'll see great photography on the walls of some of my cave exploration. I can provide plenty of information on area rock climbing, ice climbing, caving, and back-country skiing.
Don purchased this house in 1994
We can walk out the door and hike straight up Pikes Peak on the Rim the Peak Trail. We enjoy more than 300 sunny days a year in Colorado. It takes ten minutes to get to the restaurants and festivals of Manitou Springs, or we can head west into the glorious Rocky Mountains and all the outdoor activities found there. And Colorado Springs metropolitan area is 15 minutes down the highway to the east. Centrally located in America's vacation wonderland!
Clean fresh air, starry nights, secluded pines and aspens. Sleep like a log at 7500 feet.
We were in the Loft for a week. Don was always very polite and very prompt to answer any questions I sent. The driveway is a little rough to get all the way up, but there is a gravel patch that was easily accessible for lower cars. It was a nice, quiet, secluded home to come back to every evening. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who is considering it. It's a great location to get to many attractions. We look forward for another chance to come out and stay!
Great location, great price and owner a pleasure to work with. Kids loved the loft and "treehouse" feel. Very clean and neat. Just perfect.
This was the PERFECT place for our family to stay. It was our first time to bring our girls (17 & 13 years) to Colorado. The loft is so conveniently located to all that Manitou Springs & Colorado Springs have to offer. It was so nice to have everything we needed provided for us and ready to use. We loved every minute and will remember this vacation always.
This was our first time in the area and I was hoping to be close to activities. This loft was the absolutely perfect location. It is close to Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, Manitou Cliff Dwellings and other great activities! The space was perfect for our family of 5. We enjoyed every minute of our time there! Thank you!!
We absolutely loved the loft! Beautifully located, very comfortable, and entertaining for children of all ages! Don was super easy to work with and deposit was refunded immediately. We had a family gathering of 8, with ages ranging from 4 to 54 and a wonderful time was had by all . Highly recommended.
We had a great time staying in this fun Mountain Loft. We had 2 adults and 2 small children, and we were are very comfortable. We loved the seclusion this loft offered us, and spent many afternoons and evenings sitting out on the deck, and exploring the mountain. While there we rode the Pike's Peak Railroad, rafted down the Arkansas River, visited Garden of the Gods, and hiked around Helen Hunt Falls. The loft was conveniently located to everything that we wanted to see. Don was very pleasant to work with, and our deposit was refunded promptly. Thanks again for a wonderful stay!
