Beautiful sunsets every night

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time despite the very cool start to our stay. Condo was very adequate and as previous reviewers have noted, the sliding doors are VERY hard to operate. Also would like to see washable rugs rather than very dirty ones on the floors. Would definitely go back.

amazing views

  • 5 of 5

Beautifully appointed condo overlooking a pristine beach. Lovely balcony to enjoy meals and watch the amazing sunsets. Close proximity to restaurants and shops. Road behind condo busy but easy access to beach and fantastic views more than made up for some road noise. Convenient for attractions in the Tampa area - Busch Gardens, The Dali Museum, Clearwater Marine Aquarium etc. We can't wait to go back.

View was great but the unit not so much

  • 2 of 5

While the location was as great our total experience was not. We were told by the caretaker the unit would be cleaned in the few hours the previous renters departed (Sun a.m.) and when we arrived. She even contacted us once the unit was ready. But when we arrived the unit did not seem to have been thoroughly cleaned. In fact, my daughter found a dead palmetto bug on the floor of the bedroom and stepped on a sharp object in the throw rug in the same room. The unit smelled stale to the point I bought air freshners to use during our stay. My children wouldn't sleep inside the beds as they stated the sheets didn't smell fresh. When my husband turned over a cushion on the coffee table/ottoman to use as a tray, there was old candy stuck to the tray. The self-cleaning oven was far from clean, the refrigerator's door gasket was dirty with mold, and the rugs throughout were stained.

Also, I was told the top deadbolt wasn't working but the lock on the door knob was functioning. We had to slam the door in order for the lock to engage. When I examined the knob, it seems this was an old issue that had yet to be repaired. Luckily the building itself has other safeguards.

Since this is an old unit I didn't expect it to be in perfect condition, but, the windows are so old there are large gaps in the metal tracks that allow cold air and rain in the rooms. We happen to have been there in 35 degree weather with strong wind and rain, all of which came in the unit through the old windows. I had to stuff towels into the tracks to try to keep the elements out. One window actually had old duct tape trying to seal the gap.

As previously mentioned by other renters, the sliding doors do anything but slide. Near impossible to open and close, and another large gap in the frame allowed a lot of cold air into the unit.

And finally, a cleaning fee was collected, as is common on VRBO. However, you are asked to strip the beds, load and start the dishwasher, and start the laundry before you leave. Maybe that's a normal practice but it seemed odd to me to pay a cleaning fee but be asked to do part of the cleaning. And as described above, I'm not sure how thorough a cleaning the unit receives.

I did contact the unit owner prior to this review and never received a response.

Sorry Tammy but I think it's time you did some upgrades and deep cleaning to your unit to improve your reviews.

Owner's Response: Dear Kim, I regret that you had an unsatisfactory experience. I am not certain of when you made this post but you have responded to both of my emails. I appreciate that you shared with me that you rent a lot of properties. I only rent this one, which is my own vacation property. This is not a business for me. I take this very seriously. I want every guest to enjoy their beach vacation as much as I and my family when we are staying. I recently upgraded with new furniture. The sliders will be changed out in the next few months. As stated in my email response to you, I regret that you did not contact me immediately. There is a sign posted that states that if you do not find things as expected, to please contact right away. I and/or Jane would have made a visit and addressed on site. I understand that you contacted Jane and informed her the TV was broken. She was able to talk you through the remote control and confirm that the TV was not broken. She states that you had no complaints, except that the weather was bad. We were surprised to receive your complaint over 3 weeks after you checked out. I do expect that the condo is thoroughly cleaned between guests so do not want another guest to have this experience. However, I do not feel it would be fair to terminate the housekeeping team when they have informed me they did their job and the walk through prior to your arrival was unremarkable. I will continue to monitor this situation. I will look into the windows and doors and make any changes necessary. I am not aware of these issues, but will certainly address if there are issues. As eluded to previously, this is my family's vacation home and take this personally as we enjoy our time on the beach. I do appreciate your kind words about the view and location as it is spectacular. I am also pleased that each issue that you addressed is fixable, if upon further investigation, there are issues. In any case, I regret that your experience and weather was less than ideal and I do appreciate your feedback. It will assist me in making sure all guests have the opportunity for a fabulous vacation! Sincerely, Tammy

Beautiful beach location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the condo in January 2018 for a short family visit and had a wonderful time.

Pros: Condo was clean, the view from the living area and balcony is absolutely stunning, the homeowners were available at anytime to answer any questions , beautiful heated pool with a view, plenty of towels and linens, provides pack n play and child feeding chair, as well as beach toys, walking distance to St. Johns Pass.

Cons: Some updating in the bathrooms could be done (although it didn't detract from my stay there at all.)

Overall it was a wonderful experience staying at this condo and we would definitely visit again.

Thank you!

Fantastic view but needs updating badly!

  • 3 of 5

The location and view is amazing. Layout is functional and nice. The place needs some extreme TLC. The sliding doors do not shut fully (not level) and are very hard to slide. Would be difficult for an older person to slide them if at all (my mother was not able too). There is not much silverware for eating so you have to wash them every time. Missing light bulbs in multiple fixtures (we robbed one from one fixture to put in the main room ceiling fan light. Door on the refrigerator is missing it's bottom interior bar which makes that door shelf unusable. Sorry for the not so good review but the good news is these items could easily be fixed with a few dollars and some TLC.
