Our house is located in the middle of an old tree-lined, family neighborhood with the Merrimac River and a launching dock at the bottom of the street. Up until this summer, the house has been owner occupied and is fully furnished with all the necessities and then some. The backyard is shaded with large trees and can be enjoyed from the first floor deck off the kitchen or the second floor balcony off the den.
A 15 minute walk through a family and dog friendly neighborhood or along the river will lead you to the historic seaport village of Newburyport. There, one will find countless fine specialty and antique stores, restaurants, an old movie theatre, a live performance theater, a boat dock, river walk and a park on the river with live outdoor entertainment. There is also a bike and walking trail and the ocean is a four mile drive or bike ride away. Whale watching tours and deep sea-fishing excursions are offered from downtown locations and there is a Maritime Museum as well as many other historic buildings and homes.
Within a couple of blocks from home there are two public parks with playgrounds, a baseball and a soccer field and tennis courts. One park sits on the river and has a public docking ramp. Plum Island Beach, Salisbury State Beach and the Parker River Natural Wildlife Refuge are all just a few miles away as is the Plum Island Airport.
Two miles in the opposite direction of town there are two large grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations, a K-mart, the C and J bus service to Logan Airport and South Station and direct access to Interstate 95. And two miles south is the train station that offers service to Boston's North Station where you can arrive in downtown Boston within an hour and avoid the driving and parking hassles of the city.

We are flight attendants and travel extensively during the summer months so we thought it would be nice to share our home and town while we are seeing other parts of the world.
Newburyport is a wonderful city live in and raise a family but the bonus is it is just as wonderful to visit. Situated at the cross section of the Merrimac River and the Atlantic Ocean, the historic seaport village offers delightful specialties shops and numerous dining venues.
Thank-you for your kind review. I was delighted to meet and host you and your sister and group for her bachelorette week-end. Newburyport IS a charming town and you even found the winery, a new place to recommend! Happy Wedding!!
We rented this wonderful house as a place for my out-of-town family to stay for Christmas and my wedding in December. Lisa was very quick to respond to my questions and was very accommodating. Lisa put up a Christmas tree for us and left a box of child-friendly ornaments for us to decorate. My young nephew loved getting to decorate the tree! The house is very spacious and has multiple gathering spaces for our group of 8 adults and 2 children. The kitchen is very well stocked with cooking and baking supplies and is very convenient to downtown and the water. We lived every minute of our stay!
Our group of 10 "mature" ladies, all friends from our high school years, pick a different spot every year for our reunion and this house was perfect. A nice walk to downtown for shopping and restaurants and a good place to kick off our shoes and just relax.
Great property that is close to everything. We had 10 of us stay in the house and an even larger group for a family reunion. Plenty of room for everyone. Close enough to walk to the park and to downtown for shopping. Everyone had a great time!
We had a great weekend in Newburyport! The house had plenty of space for the 12 of us celebrating a bachelorette party. The house also has great outdoor space- we spent a lot of time out on the deck. It's an easy drive to the beach, and a quick walk to the downtown shops and restaurants. Lisa is a great host and gave us helpful recommendations.
I rented Lisa's home for a weekend (Thursday-Saturday) in July to host 9 of my sister's friends for the weekend leading up to her Bridal Shower (on Sunday). She had friends visiting from all across the country (North Carolina, Wisconsin, Utah, Kentucky, Ohio, and Washington to name a few!) and most of these girls had never even been to Massachusetts before! I was looking for a home on the Northshore near the beach that would comfortably sleep 10 girls, and this house was PERFECT! I had never really been to Newburyport before, so I loved exploring the area with our group of friends for the weekend. We walked downtown and did some shopping and had dinner at a wonderful restaurant called The Poynt, and we also checked out a great vineyard a few miles away in Rowley called the Mill River Winery. We also went to the Plum Island Beach on our last day. There is so much to do in the area, and we all had such a fun time all weekend! Lisa was so accommodating and so helpful throughout the entire process. She was easily reachable by cell phone if we had any questions during our stay. The home is exactly how it is described: a large charming home with plenty of space to spread out! It was the perfect size for the 10 of us. We are all still talking about how much fun we had! I will definitely recommend this home to anyone I know looking for a week/weekend vacation on the Northshore! I loved everything about our weekend here and I hope we can stay here again someday in the future! :)
We were looking for a vacation home close to my son and his girlfriend in Medford. We brought with us my sister and her sons, so we were seven in the house. The house was exactly as advertised, spacious, clean, and well-appointed with areas to gather a large group together, but also space for people to get a little alone time. The sun room, patio table and dining table were great spots for our family game night. The location of the house was exactly what I hoped for. Residential, very quiet, beautifully maintained homes; a very short walk to the waterfront, which provided a scenic walkway to the beautiful downtown area. Downtown Newburyport proved hours of entertainment with it's seemingly endless assortment of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and specialty shops. The Tannery complex, which houses Jabberwocky bookstore and the very cute coffee house Chococoa, home of the famous whoopee pie, were an easy walk, and a frequent destination. Michael's Seafood on the river was a great place for us to enjoy our first night dinner out and get the lay of the land. The ride to the train station was short and easy and we enjoyed a day in Salem without the hassle of parking and driving. While in Salem we visited the Far From the Tree Cider Brewery, and enjoyed a flight of ciders on their patio. The train was clean and fast, and the trip itself was enjoyable as the track ran along a canal. We also enjoyed an old-fashioned parade and pre-fourth musical celebration in Swampscott on their beautiful Townhouse lawn. We packed a picnic dinner and enjoyed the free music. My son took my nephews college shopping in Boston, which may have been the highlight of the trip for them. Lisa, our host was welcoming and informative about local sites and events. If we ever have to bring the vacation to the kids again, Lisa's home would be our go-to! Thanks Lisa, for sharing your home with us!
