Full of Charm! Very Comfortable for Large Group Gatherings.

  • 5 of 5

I negotiated directly with the owner for my large party to take over the Inn for several nights during ski season. We were attracted to this location for its close proximity to Wildcat, Attitash and Black Mountain ski areas, ice skating, as well as cross country access from the front door. We were also interested in being able to cook and dine communally. All aspects of this rental worked extremely well for us, and we hope to repeat our experience at this Inn for years to come.

Bedrooms: We were attracted to the Inn by the bedroom pictures, which we found to be an excellent representation. Our party drew lots to determine picking order; and, everyone was very happy with their selection. The bedrooms, each with its own comfortable private bathroom, were all clean and well maintained.

Common Space: The dining room, bar, living room, upstairs and downstairs lobbies and computer room easily absorbed our very large group. While we spent relatively few waking hours in our respective bedrooms, we never felt cramped in common space during our stay.

Kitchen: The kitchen is extremely well equipped and very functional. The owner provided a working tour to ensure that we were comfortable with its operation, and made sure that we would have ample space to store our food in pantries and fridge/freezer. We especially liked the industrial dishwasher that completes loads in 2 minutes.

Laundry: Personal and industrial sized laundry machines were available for our use. Extra linnens and towels were also made available.

Fireplaces: Two beautiful, wood-burning fire places are located in common spaces on the first floor. We enjoyed these during our entire stay.

Hospitality and Service: I found the owner to be very friendly and service oriented. During our negotiations, we were both able to address our concerns in a candid and transparent manner. The owner also flexibly offered a la carte services including meals, daily house cleaning, and discounted lift ticket sales. While we opted not to take any of these extras, I felt that the owner was ready to work to meet our needs. During our stay, the owner was on-call and responsive in dealing with unanticipated issues that came up, such as, participants locking themselves out of their rooms. I found the owner's overall responsiveness to be very professional.

If you have the opportunity to gather a large group needing lodging in a beautiful location with excellent skiing and hiking, this Inn would make an excellent selection.

Crash and Burn...

  • 1 of 5

My family and friends rented this property for the weekend, while on an annual excursion to climb Mt. Washington.

While clean and adequately equipped and prepared, in person the property is a bit tired inside and is in need of quite a bit of repair on the outside when compared with the views offered by the online photos.

We enjoyed ourselves and both the innkeeper, Chris, and the owner, Don, stopped by a few times during our visit to check in and make sure the visit was going well.

BIG PROBLEM: Upon checkout I left my smartphone in my room and didn't realize that I had left it there until I was in transit, on my way home, a number of hours later. I called and left messages of inquiry for Chris at the inn's number, Don at his personal cell number, and I spoke in person with 'Joe' twice at the 800 number, who reassured that he would investigate the situation and get back to me. He hasn't.

It has been three days and none of my calls has been returned.

I am very disappointed that representatives of The Inn at Jackson have not had the courtesy to call me back and acknowledge the problem.

I will leave the reader to draw one's own conclusion about dealing with such an establishment.

We won't be back....

Owner's Response: If you want to get accurate opinions about our property, please visit This review was not even written by Martha Hoey, who was the trip leader, and loved the property and is considering coming back. It's from her sister who has unfairly evaluated the property because she lost her smartphone.
